Cheers Navin....'twas not too difficult to get it up and running. gotta pull my pedals apart now, brakes are not releasing fully at times that I trailbrake.....hard to make the cars pull against dragging brakes. Enjoyed the race though all the same....should have stayed with the faster car though....it was a tad lonely.

It's not often I'm disappointed with 2nd place, but I threw away a good chance of a win at Riverside. :'(

Got pole after several attempts resulted in mistakes near the end of the lap. Got away fairly well & just tried to not make any mistakes in the first few corners, got to the long straight, looked behind & there was no one to be seen. Was worried I might have had one of those discos where you get left on the track circulating on your own!  Huh  Kept going & was relieved at the end of lap 1 when XD showed I had a 6s lead.

Then just concentrated on putting in consistent laps & not making silly mistakes which went well until about lap 20 when I caught Matt at the tight right before the straight. Matt looked to be on a wide line so I went to go inside him, when he got a little sideways I braked which tightened my line & I hit the tyres!  Roll Eyes 17s lead down to 4s! Over the next 3-4 laps I kept the gap to Ross constant & then caught Matt at the same place again with the same result!  Shocked Matt looked to be keeping left to let me pass but I guess he didn't see me & again I had to brake, lost the rear a little & clipped the tyres. My own fault, if I had just been a little patient the 427 would have passed the 289 on the straight.

Anyway Ross went past & on to win, well driven Ross.  thumbup1

Congrats also to Syd & to Navin in the first 289  clap

Pretty well what Geoffers said. At first I was not expecting anyone to try to lap in that
tight right/left onto the straight when the 427 would have breezed past on the straight
but kept a bit wide just in case the orange car (at first I thought it was Phil unlapping himself)
went for it, didn't seem to be happening and my right view showed no one there so I turned
in trying to still leave some room, but off line was a little unstable, both times it happened
I could not understand where the orange car went, I was going down the straight furiously
switching right and left view to make sure I didn't turn in at the end as i couldn't see another
car, and had not seen it go into the tyres.... "Where the pilchard IS HE!"  I watched the replay
and other than stopping, not sure I could have done much else, especially as I was sort of
trying to chase Mark Cinderby and didn't really want to lose any more time than I needed to.
Was a shame anyway, and must have been frustrating, I guess I got called some names
at the time...  Shocked

Sorry for missing this one but I'd spent 8 enjoyable hours travelling to/from hospital and being directed from one dept to the next, chittie in hand, to join the new queue like a displaced person seeking recognition.  As result knackered with no time to down load track or practice - still it's worth it I quess for reassurance that I'm OK.

Was a shame anyway, and must have been frustrating, I guess I got called some names
at the time...  Shocked

I must admit a few choice words were forthcoming & the steering wheel was nearly ripped from the desk on the second occasion  Shocked
I actually thought it was the last lap & eased off after the last turn thinking Ross had won, only to cross the line & find it wasn't the last lap.  Roll Eyes Then put my foot down again & nearly spun losing any remote chance I had of catching Ross!

The car is a Honda S2000 which is my latest chariot for Hillclimbs and Sprints this year
(and road car at the moment) The 106 is "resting" in my garage.

had it's first outing on Sunday last, I lost horribly to my friend who also has an S2000
but beat off a challenge from a couple of MX5s (it was a very tight and twisty track
where the S2k couldn't really make good use of it's 240 bhp) That's my excuse anyway

I assumed all S2ks were the same, but they are not, the suspension setup changed quite
radically every 2 years, and mine, which is the last of the Mk1 (known as AP1) has a horrible
setup with a soft front ARB and a stiff rear ARB, the damm thing feels like the the back is
on a wet track, and the front is dry. It seems i need a front ARB (much stiffer) off an older model
to get a decent baclance. I was opposite locking for fun, good to watch , but not the quickest
way round the track.... Roll Eyes

Smiley Qualified P10  Shocked Roll Eyes....Got a great start and found my self chasing Navin.  Smiley  Pushed as hard as I could but did not make much impression we were about 1.5 secs apart for at least 11 laps.  Grin I then became aware of a certain Mr Ade B in another 289 closing the gap on me and around 2/3 distance the pressure was to much and he passed me.  Roll Eyes  A few laps later and I nodded off through the eases (what a mistakea to makea) Shocked Shocked  and had to throw it sideways to miss the barrier which allowed Phspok to close right up to a 4 sec gap. Regained my concentration to finish P6 in a pool of sweat.  Grin

.After struggling a few weeks ago with Mustangs and or Falcons here I wasn't too keen to come back here. The cure for this track was apparently Cobra's Grin. Great fun sliding these around here. The start was a little scarey as I could see all of the lagging Oly's car was having. Once through some of the struggling 427's I settled in and tried to get into a rhythm so not to have anymore recent brain fade moments. Riverside isn't difficult but does have some technical challenges where you must grab some of the inside of the apexes to keep the car from understeering on exit. Plus that last corner where you never feel like you get all of it. Either go too deep and drive up the banking and waste to much time in the corner or enter it correctly and it feels like you left to much track on the exit and you should of gone in deeper. Frustrating! Undecided. During the race I felt tag teamed bye Mark early and then Ade in the second half Shocked. Ade found some extra speed during the race so it was pretty much at my limit during most of the race. I really need to change some of my sets to have more oversteer at the beginning of the race because Ade's always seem to be much more neutral at the end of a run while I'm struggling with understeer. Big congrats to Ross for the win. Also grats to Geoffers and Syd for their podys. Great turnout and nice to see some new faces Grin Cheers

PS What a great powerplant that S2000 has hey Matt. 9000 RPM! Holy moly !!  Shocked Nice ride  Cool
