I did the same as Bill (and Henry just behind me) slowed well in advance of the hump before the first turn. There were cars falling off the track all over the place. Like Bill say's "Why?" It was always going to be a long race.  Roll Eyes

I don't know why Quicksilver appears two times  Huh  I'll look into fixing that later.

Totally agree with what Bill said, what's with the suicidal driving after the start, people? You don't win on lap 1, but you sure lose it. I kept it cool and calm after the start, perhaps I was lucky GTL put me on the front row, and then people were going off all around me, but fortunately I was not hit by anyone. There was someone challenging me after a lap, but he too went too hot on the brakes into T1 and off into the grass.

From there on I kept increasing the pace gradually and improved my lap time consistently, posting fastest lap for 5 laps in a row or so. That was enough to build up a comfortable gap over 2nd place, but I also had an off which cost me a couple of seconds, but nothing major. I had filled the fuel tank to its limit and it was enough to do 16 laps, with the tires almost gone by then. I pitted and I don't know why but the pitstop took 51 seconds, dropping me to 3rd place. On the next lap those in front of me pitted as well, so I was back in front, but it seems they had much quicker stops as 2nd place was now just under 30 seconds behind me, as opposed to over 40 before my stop.

I pushed really hard because I wanted to do a very fast lap, and managed to produce one that felt quite good, but then the tires immediately lost performance and I could never get close to it again. I had a scare with a backmarker who spun in front of me, but we managed to avoid each other. Grats all who finished!

Was fun though frustrating. I took the Elan because (having practiced the wrong track...)
I was faster in it than the Ferri, was expecting the Trevor to need more fuel and eat tyres
so avoided him. Saw some brightly coloured vehicle coming in too fast to make the corner from
behind at T1 so went on the grass to drive round the melee. I think it may have been the
same brightly coloured vehicle that punted me in to the fence hard later in the race.
Ah well, car was damaged but drivable, became less so  with low fuel an I fell off every
couple of laps. After pits was easier to drive, 95 secs damage repair so opted not to, and not
enough laps left to do much, so chased Tony, who very politely gave me an easy pass by
falling off  Grin

Oh, and what a superb track it is. I joined the online prac and was on one of the eastern european
tracks I can't remember the name of, I had a gdb mismatch so race night I reinstalled and joined
the race to find I was on a completely different track  Shocked

Congrats to podium finishers. What an insane fastest lap Hristo.
I got 13th of 14 places at the start. Since I was in a ferrari, I got by a couple Elans before T1 when when I saw cars going all over the place there. One reason could be, people of very different speeds were thrown close together by random grid. Random can be fun, but it requires a lot more careful driving into T1. Anyway, on the other side of T1 esses I was in 4th, and soon even in second. After a couple of laps of fighting, Ade and Geoffers were through, and I was back in 4th. By that time Mark was behind me, but had a mistake somewhere and I had a over 10 second lead on him. From that point I settled down, and kept driving towards inevitable pitstops. I had fuel for about 14.5 laps, so stopped at the end of lap 14. I saw the front tires were pretty spent, but rears were only used up maybe a third of the thread at most. So I fueled 80 liters and changed only fronts. As soon as I was out, I saw my mistake, I put too little fuel, was half a lap short (xd information) of race distance. Now I would need to short shift to save fuel for the rest of the 12 laps. But I thought I had good lead on Mark, somehow 15 second lead before pits was turned into 30 second lead. But I was also jumped by Henry, who went from 20 seconds behind to 10 ahead. I don't about others, but I don't do so well when I'm intentionally trying to take it easy. That's when mistakes happen. Couple that with my failing rear tires toward the end, and I had two big spins losing over 20 seconds, giving away my 4th place.
In the end I barely made it to the finish, my engine cutting off before t1 after finishing line.

I didn't change tyres Hristo, so that is why your stop probably took longer than mine.

Started 12th on the grid & was a bit slow away but passed a couple of Elans before T1. Braked in plenty of time & had people coming past me on both sides only to end up off the track  Shocked. Fortunately no one hit me & I picked my way through the melee & came out in 5th place.

Made a mistake on lap 2 which let Ade through & then followed him for several laps as we got up to 2nd & 3rd well behind the flying Hristo! On lap 13 Ade went off at T1 handing me 2nd place & then pitted at the end the lap. Must have had some problem Ade, as you were still there when I came around next lap  Undecided.

Pitted on lap 16 & only took on fuel as the tyres didn't seem too bad. Came out still in 2nd, 30s behind Hristo & 10s ahead of Henry, both gaps got bigger as the race wore on & I came home 2nd with the tyres pretty well finished.

Congrats to Hristo & Henry & well done to all that finished. clap clap clap

Grats Hristo  thumbup1 Geoffers & Henry  thumbup2

Practice:
Did'nt know this track & car choice said Lotus - the only one I knew I had been running at Snetterton & therefore had setup. Setup was useless for this track & I split an ELAN setup completely from the Online Folder, but never got the rear end to hold firm.

Race:
Wildly exciting raffle starting place, a place I knew would not hold back, especially with the pit stop is certainly not my strong point. Entertaining race...until I got the first bumps, the car became even harder to keep in turns. Many things happen in this race, but 2 things I remember most is Mark (I hope you had fun just like me with tight race Grin) ...& unfortunately a mistake on my part. Spins around in T'last, Henry looks close out at grass, I pull into & discover too late that Henry is going on inside...damn, I hit a Team mate  Angry

Green Light:
For discussion of T'1 crash, I give right to be careful...but for me starts a race at the green, no matter where I start from. Since we are a restless mixed field & running with our own style of driving (each with their braking point, some might not) in my opinion it will never be avoided & that is part of the race. Nobody does it on purpose (I hope) but back on the horse...there is a new race tomorrow.  Cool

Huh I was in a bit of a quandary for this one, do I drive the fractionally slower Lotus that will probably do the race on one set of tyres, or drive the 250 GTO what just sounds fantastic and with my set up eats rear tyres? The beautiful engine noise won out Grin

I started mid grid and due to some errors from Halley whom got a Fernando Alonzo start and flew up the field and then hit Effeblitz causing a major fall off.  Sad  I managed to miss the carnage and gaining a sweet P3  Smiley then P2 when Pelle went off.  Shocked  Gobsmacked and wildly excited to be gaining on Hristo at the end of lap 1 and managing to get up the inside down the straight into the T1 complex. Unfortunately Mr brain was not fully engaged at this point snd I mistook T1 for T2 braking to late and not changing down to 2nd.....Exit Cinderby stage left   Grin (sorry if I scared you Hristo.....heat of battle and all that)  Grin

More cocks later and I had a catastrophe in the chicane ending In a spin and dropped to P6. Car was ok though and drove hard back to P5 involving a great little game with Pelle called who can go off the most number of times in the most comical way!!  Smiley Grin Grin.

I only had one ace left up my sleeve and that was the pit stop.............I ran the car on a full tank during practice and found it would do 17 laps on a tank (not being caught out by that bastard GT6 like last week)  Grin Anyways pitted on lap 18 splashed some fuel in and changed my now worn out tyres.  Cool The car was transformed..... I was 35 sec's down on Syd in P4........I pushed and pushed and got a PB of 2.11.1............Syds car was obviously not good because I made up the time in leaps & bounds and eventually passed him.  Wink Finished P4.

Congrat's to Hristo, Geoffers and Henry you all drove a great race.....How H got a 2.07 I will never know!!

PS Did the tyres last the race for the Lotus boys?  Huh

They were fine for me, just put some fuel in at the stop, although I was driving on my own at that point so it could be it wasn't wearing the tyres properly. Huh

Ahh, that explains it. I really have to install some addon to show me exact tire wear and fuel amount. I was worried I might get a puncture, so I opted to change all tires. Also, in all the hurry to fuel up, I didn't notice where it shows you how long the pitstop is going to be in advance. Didn't practice pitstops as I said I would, so my fault on that one.
