For sale:- One very beat up Ferrari 250GT
but the old girl got me home in 9th despite steering damage and plenty of missing body parts
That was a tough long race, felt more like an hour than 40minutes!
Couldn't string a good lap together through most of qually and was languishing down in 15th until about my last 3 runs of the sesh which clawed me back up to a more respectable 9th.
Race start was hard as don't think anyone from 7th on could see any lights
Then I got assaulted from behind by an Alfa that thought it could smash its way past me
Got past the chaos at T1/T2 only to then get spat off a kerb at T3 into the path of Legzy and another
sorry about that chaps,
lost both my headlights in a fezza kiss with Legz and many places :'(
Made some recovery passes only to get punted off from behind by another Alfa
got more damage and lost time.
Rest of the race went well once I got clear track and I pursued Nik for a long time, closing him down to a few secs when he quit.
Straight after that it went pear shaped again as I let John (race leader) past but then had tons more power than him up the hill. In my quandary whether to overtake or sit behind him, I followed him into the Alfas devishly short braking zone...no good in the fezza! and I spanked the tyre wall hard at T1 :'(
Lost my hard earned 9th place to Ross? in his chasing Alpine and about 20 seconds with a now damaged suspension car.
Last 8 laps were hard work and finished a decidedly average 9th place. Not too bad considering the escapades, contact and quick drivers about.
Apologies and thanks to all the backmarkers who moved over. I couldn't thank you with a courtesy flash as my headlights were laying in the sand somewhere
Well done to the podium and all who finshed a tough race.
