REsults and Replay Posted

Was late getting home, and had only qual to get somesort of setup, had not turned a wheel before and I suffered for it.
Had some fun chasing down Rolf a couple of times after my many spins  Grin

according to Google translator "sto rosicando" means "I'm gnawing"  I guess that would be... taz

Unofficial LapChart

My, my, the first laps were a bit hectic, weren't they? Looked more like Playstation3 racing game.
Certainly deserved my 'I survived a 21 car race at KnockHill and all I got was this lousy t-shirt' t-shirt.

Start was a bit sudden and spotted the starting lights at the right too late. Part reason for the first lap chaos I guess..

Sorry for not flashing to say thank you to those people that let me past - I had no lights left after a collision early in the race, and was driving a decidedly wonky car! Lucky for me that Frex was behind Geoffers for most of it, otherwise he'd probably have taken 1st prize.

Straight after that it went pear shaped again as I let John (race leader) past but then had tons more power than him up the hill. In my quandary whether to overtake or sit behind him, I followed him into the Alfas devishly short braking zone...no good in the fezza! and I spanked the tyre wall hard at T1 if

If it's any consolation, it was painful watching you have to pull in and sit behind me up the hill (thanks though thumbup1). I was hoping you wouldn't get sucked into my braking zone Sad

Seems that latest catalyst driver for graphic card caused problem with notably higher gpu temperatures and, most likely, overheating ... this morning went back to 13.2 and gpu is much cooler with same settings.

OK mate winkiss

Managed 5th fastest lap in qually, 5th fastest lap in race. Quite pleased with that at least Smiley

Not much consolation for me as I have fastest lap in qualy and in race - with bent steering and climbing from dead last to 7th before disco.

And we both had problem with white Alfa and our Italian friend who spin me and didn`t wait. Not sure was he slow down (probably yes) so no, I will not report that incident ...

Two more apologies to Mark J (missing braking point) and frex (if you are abut to lap me, use your lights please - didn`t see blue flag)

Yes, i wasn't quite sure of the correct lapping etiquette here and whether to use lights or not (couldn't see anything about it in the rules). I prefer not to if possible, and everyone else i lapped was aware of my presence and moved over without me needing to use them.

Do you use name tags (tab key)? It's very useful for knowing who is coming up behind and whether you should be fighting them for position or not.

Anyway, it's no problem. Sorry that you had your own issues in the race.

No, no name tags because it distracts me, actually I use xd (option to have race standings list with gaps) only for training and qualy. For race i have minimal hud only ... i really hope that this was our first and last situation with laping each other  yes

There are no "rules" about lapping, other than a guide that says the guy being lapped should stick
to his line but not obstruct the lapper. Personally I use XD for the gaps and mostly it is obvious
whether the guy catching up is for a place or about to lap me. Headlights are appreciated by some
as well. I have seen people use headlights from the start, possibly because they feel more
"important" somehow, trouble with doing that is that when someone is behind with lights on
you don't easily know whether they are actually lapping or just trying to scare you  Shocked
I would reccommend XD and name tags as a guide, but you deal with it as you like, if there are incidents
because of confusion when not using some aid, then expect to be sent to Siberia for your sins  whistling

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3349.msg65154#msg65154

There was some poor "spatial awareness" last night, particularly at the start, it was a tight track with
21 cars so there is bound to be some rubbing of doors, but it would be nice if people were a bit
less desparate to get in front into T1  eek

On a slightly different tack:-

What part of DO NOT USE CHAT IN RACE OR QUALIFYING is so damn difficult to grasp?

For the record, this includes things like "sorry" "sry" "thanks" "LOL" "Pass on the left" etc. etc.

BTW  I found that I just had to stick my lights on and leave them on because there were so many cars to lap, some of which seemed not to know where the track was, let alone any other cars!  Thanks to the Alpine who vanished in front of me after planting himself across the track.   Grin  He obviously knew that I was there.

Think there was a Ferrari doing something strange and an Alfa sauntering down the middle of the track too; all whilst I had Mogget breathing down my neck.

Sorry for my "chat" in qualifying, but I just wanted to know if the fuel was accurate or not. Yes, I could have done this prior to the qualifying session, but I only just remembered that there was a race on 15 minutes before qualifying started! I remembered not to use any messages when lapping others during the race, but the fact that I have headlights mapped to my "H" key prevented me from using them. Not that it mattered, since everyone that I lapped seemed to be aware of the situation, and nobody caused me any problems.

I would like to suggest (as I have done many times in the past) that headlights are switched OFF during a daylight race. There is no need to have them on whatsoever, so I fail to see why they need to be on when the race starts.

Oh, and a final note to Walter.......you don't need to be THAT generous when being lapped!! Wink

I was not thinking about having lights on rather than one short flash ... Ross was close also in Alpine so I mixed up "who is who" ... despite frex says that we have no problem, seeing that he finished only 3 sec behind John could mean that he was able to give him late "run for the money" ... and he spend almost 2 laps behind me just when my front tires start to play funny things with me and my pace dropped ... that short flash solved situation when, finally, frex did that.

OK, I`m packing for Siberia ...  laugh

Nah, John was just managing the gap i'm sure, plus he slowed down a lot on the final lap. No need to leave for Siberia..  Wink

I was stuck behind someone for most of the last lap Sad A little assistance in getting past would have been much appreciated, but I don't think he realised I was trying to lap him and I couldn't flash my lights because they were broken. I thought I'd be better just waiting for the finish line than try a risky pass with a car that was suffering with bent suspension, could have been different if Frex was any closer though.
