GTL Originals Cup Standings here

Grid/server capacity: 22

Practice: ~19:20  (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (14 laps)

Track: Spa Francorchamps, Belgium. (Standard GTL Track)

Cars allowed: Any original GTC-TC-76 class car

Car restrictions: None

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: Not required

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

I definitely will miss at least this one.  Sad

There are different options concerning my G25 as power LED is blinking and wheel does not calibrate:

- power supply is faulty
- something inside the wheel is broken (e.g. optical encoder: https://de.ifixit.com/Anleitung/Logitech+G27+Optical+Encoder+Replacement/42113)
Have to open the wheel on order to verify.

Ordering a new power supply and/or the encoder (https://www.ebay.com/itm/60-Slot-Steering-Wheel-Optical-Encoder-for-Logitech-G25-Driving-Force-GT-/264059495927) and try the reparation

or buy a new one.

Ok - the optical encoder is broken: https://www.mediafire.com/view/0aa77mbacj63in0/IMGP3647crop.jpg/file

Very detailed instruction for repair here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCSTOb28Ero&pbjreload=10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhYpWAmZVjQ&pbjreload=10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23ahB-YfkC0&pbjreload=10

It can be tried to glue the damage but a new encoder (brass instead of plastic) can be ordered from here: https://cmlaserservice.com/index.html (around $ 40).

Delivery from Thailand could last two to four weeks  Sad

Have to look whether it's available here in Europe or in Germany too. I hope it will be worth to buy it and repair the wheel.

I still have a very old steering wheel which I will try to connect in order to be back earlier than scheduled.

I hope that you can get your wheel repaired Kurt. Maybe the power supply will cure some problems, but if it is the encoder disk that is broken, that will require some dis-assembly to correct. I'm afraid I cannot suggest a source for a new encoder disk, but $ 40 sounds a little expensive.

From my experience earlier this week,  can say that it is not difficult to get access to the encoder disk, it just takes a little time and a lot of screws!!

The disk itself is a very delicate item which simply slides onto the motor shaft. Because it is a slotted disk which works with an optical encoder, it would cause problems if some fluff or any foreign objects found themselves onto that disk, so maybe worth stripping the wheel down and cleaning things.

Thanks Clive. The wheel is already disassembled  Grin and the encoder in the picture is mine.
Found an even more expensive supplier of the Thai product with ebay Germany (€ 45) but would be here during next week.  Smiley

€ 45 is a lot cheaper than a new wheel Kurt  Wink and I guess that you have already worked out how straightforward it is to fix.  Grin

Can anyone let me know the original car makes, models and car numbers in GTL GTC-TC-76?  helpsmilie

I have downloaded so many mods and skins (it runs into hundreds) that I now don’t have a clue what the original cars were. I have just checked out online practice and all I have been getting is a “car not present on server” message. I hope the originals are all still there in my GTL Folder. I have tried about twenty of the most likely to be GTL originals and found only one so far. I shall now do some practice with that car but is not the one I would normally chose. thumbdown

I wonder if anyone else is having the same problem.  Roll Eyes

Thanks Geoffers and Tony.

I spent an hour or more online finding out the cars that were useable by trial and error, could have saved my time and practiced. I didn’t realise how few skins there were for the cars in the original program. In case I have some missing I will transfer the downloaded folder to my GTL PC. That runs windows XP Pro, a bit out of date but the old programs run fine on it. I can’t connect to simracing.org on it now as the Browsers no longer support XP.

Hope to see you on line tomorrow. sweatdrop

I was also using Firefox. After a recent automatic update it was a problem, I had videos with no sound, some sites would freeze up or go slow. Firefox said it was not supporting XP any longer.

I have installed again an earlier version of Firefox supposed to work with XP but still have problems so I uninstalled it and tried Explorer and Opera. They work OK but won’t connect me to some sites one of which is simracing.org as they say they can’t provide a secure connection. I only get this problem with XP. If yours still works then it could be down to another problem with my system I guess.
