Got more laps in last night and finally getting the gist of this track, took a few off road excursions! I must be running almost 4x4 suspension ride heights and spring rates now  Tongue  Must have been terrifying racing an F1 car around here back in the day!  Shocked

Good to see a couple of other cars practising last night  Smiley

What's the general rule regarding the 'racing line' here? At least two wheels on the tarmac at all times?

i hope that was on softs?! i havent run them yet as i do all my practise with my intended race setup on hards.

I got some more laps in last night expecting to improve further but couldnt even get in the same second as my pb  Huh  Stupid cut warnings kept constantly ruining my laps otherwise sure i would have beaten it several times  Roll Eyes

45mins around here will be tricky without making an error and its generally a big off if it goes wrong  Shocked I ended up upside down sliding down the road after cart-wheeling through the terrain at one point  Undecided

@Les :- yes two wheels on the tarmac at all times. Not sure where you can gain by off roading here, not recommended !

@Syd:- raise your ride height, soften springs, increase front and rear arb's to get you through the twisties. Increase rebound dampers to help with the bumps. Higher downforce front and rear to keep your tyres on the undulating surface (also helps to not be spat off when accelerating out of some of the corners.

Maybe it was, or maybe it was 2-3 laps into a race run with hard tyres and a LOT of fuel.  You decide   /twiddles sandbag laugh

Although right now it looks a good time,  there's a suspicious lack of laps from Fabri and Tim, have they been off at a secret training camp and are about to go full  alien alien alien alien alien alien on us...

You can easily gain some time by keeping only 2 wheels on the track in the fast section here. In my humble opinion we should just drive in a realistic way : occasionally, by accident, we can have 2 wheels on the grass but it shouldn't be intended, even if it keeps a risky habit.

@ Lesn : By the way, what was feeling my hardware setup proposal at your end ?

IDK, when I mess the line up and take a bit of grass, generally I cant help but lift for fear of dying, and that's not faster!

I've been experimenting a little, but it's hard to tell the difference here  Huh

Well what a great combo that is.

Qually went pretty well and I couldn't have gone much faster, but I knew Tim had more and right at the end he throws down a 2m50  (and I know a 49 was on  Cool )...     2nd place ain't so bad though.

Race:   I got a lovely launch off the line, then promptly threw it away forgetting to use the clutch for the next shift  Roll Eyes , lucky the initial launch was good and I managed to hold 2nd place to the top of the hill, but Tim was already 2s up the road LOL.  After that I just drove at a steady pace aiming to consolidate 2nd place, knowing it would be hard to catch let alone pass Mr Hunt,  but still made a couple of stupid errors. First at T3 at the top of the hill I look down to see how much time was left in the race and promptly drove straight out onto the grass and up the bank, no damage but 2-3s lost.   Then a few laps later I outbraked myself downhill into the first hairpin (T8 ?) and again took to the grass, luckily I slowed enough I didn't hit the barrier but another few seconds were lost.   Ultimately I was going to finish maybe a dozen seconds back,  but on the next to last lap Tim had some issue and I was suddenly 2 seconds behind, so we had a nice run to the flag. I tried (but not too hard) but it wasn't enough, and 2nd place it was.

Congrats to Tim for the win, and to Fabri on the podium. And of course to everyone else who survived, fun though it is that's a hard combo and so very easy for it to end in tears...

My worst race of this series by far  Sad I didn’t enjoy that at all and even from first practise I just didn’t like this combination.

Qually went surprisingly well and bagged 3rd on the grid expecting a good race with Fabri and Max. That lasted as far as the tight right hand hairpin before the hill descent. Vva was all over me and it distracted me just enough to brake too late and I slithered towards the fencing. I didn’t lose much time but as I descended the cold fronts went light and round I went. Sadly Maxime had no way to avoid and collided with my half span car Cry  we both got aero damage, except I didn’t know I did until the car understeered into a concrete wall later in the lap  Sad
From then on the car was an under steering pig and bit of a handful. Plus the lead 4 were already now 23 secs ahead. I made 2 or 3 more errors throughout the race including clumping poor Maxime again in a clumsy contact at the hairpin. I waited for him and we recommenced our long on track chase until he ran wide later. I then set off after Stefan for 5th taking big lumps out of his lead and agonisingly for him, he gave it too much loud pedal out of a corner and I was past for a hard earned 5th place just 3 turns before the end! Bad luck team-mate.
Was glad that was over with. Well done to Tim and the podium.

Apart from the opening lap it was a though but enjoyable race. Hard to believe they really raced such cars around here. Crazy stuff!

Hehe, I can clearly see how my front wing aero was missing.

That was my worst race since the start of the championship, at home track.. :/ When you loose some of your front aero and then suck in the esses/hairpin etc but you still have rear wing span to keep you slow in the fast sections.  Cry  Cheesy

Awesome laptimes from the alien guys, congrats podium and thank you all for racing !
