Track was pure dynamite, unlike my driving...

The Sierras had such a huge advantage in the middle sector, even when i had a 3 or 4 sec gap over Jos or Max they could close it with ease in that sector alone.

Unless Kai and you drove different cars, clock doesn't say lies. It's clear that you were doing something wrong in that sector as you were regularly over 47.0 (apart from a couple of laps) and Kai was lapping regularly from 46.4 to 46.7 when he did no mistakes. He did manage even a 46.1 like my only attempt with the BMW on tuesday with race fuel, so there was definitely something wrong with your lines in 2nd sector.

They layout of this track is great. Just too bad the Beemer doesn't like bumps in the tarmac.

Qually went ok, was sitting in 6th when the time ran out. Just to see my teammate beat me with a tenth of a second without knowing the track that well! Both races were great with all kinds off battles going on. Had Max in sight at one point after earlier battles with MJ, Maxime and Syd. The Sierra of Maxime was just that bit faster and could only manage to follow him home to the finish.

Heat no. 2 was even more hectic with an Alfa beating me off the line. Hard but fair battles where a joy. To bad Kai was a bit too eager and rear ended me twice. Also Jaari made a move into T1 which was never going to happen. That cost quite some positions unfortunately. Still the final battle with MJ and Kai made up for it.

Despite grumblings I hope you all enjoyed that one, I seriously doubt I'd use it for anything faster (60's F1 maybe, that worked well at SRO) - but something like the Fords Vs Alfas series would be amazing here

This track is going in my special folder of "best AC tracks",  its a gem! - tough yes, but so so fun.  I can't help thinking how much of a riot it'd be in the 72D or 917k 

...this dropped me back to behind Max and 5th position. Max very kindly made it easy for me to get back by...

those Italians aint the only ones who can play the team game (no point me fighting you and slowing us both down)

Welcome back to Max, from your pace you'll be back to fighting at the front pretty soon i recon 

eh we'll see, I could roll out some good ones from the book of excuses, but hopefully some more time in the car and AC in general will see me pick up some speed again 

I'm not disappointed, 2 4th places isn't in any way bad when I know the 3 guys in front are all fast fast. I made a few mistakes in both races including a couple of off tracks so yeh, need moar practice to get back into it.

Damn it feels good to be back in AC though

Mark, when you adjust spring strength do you not also adjust your ride height and Shocks to compensate?
If the car became bouncier when you softened it then either the shocks were totally wrong (too stiff if you didn't change them) or the car was too low and hitting the bump stops under compression.

I think you can also adjust the bump stop stiffness in the DTM M3 to give it more travel - I did all of this to the Merc and even before I'd learnt the track it was worth a second and a half.
I did it again this morning to a Brands setup in the 917k and gained 2.5 seconds as it then spent most of the time on the ground (2:06 dead BTW, if you think the DTM's were hard then you need to try the Pork )

i'll be honest and say i just didnt get enough laps in compared to most for this one so was learning on the hoof. Usually i would study some onboards beforehand but as it was a fantasy track so i couldnt.

First race my front springs were too stiff (140), 105 rear so i was getting understeer but it was at least keeping the errant rear in check a bit better. I also had my gear ratio one notch too high i think which meant it bogged down in some tighter corners.
Second race i softened the front springs one notch, raised the ride height and added some dampers to try and absorb the bumps, hence why i was quicker in race 2. But still forgot to adjust my gear ratio...grrr. 

The Cossies visibly closed so quickly in that middle sector that starts with the nasty double downhill off camber left, thru a chicane and then onto a tight left hairpin on the crest. I hated that section. I also think wrestling a 20N DD wheel and H-shift disadvantaged me against some cars, the ffb was pretty fierce here and both wrists and neck ached at race end, despite being a biker! I couldnt release my grip on the wheel anywhere as the bumps would have me off.

Still i got to enjoy some good fights and 7th in R2 so not all bad.

It wasn't the day for the Sierras... But nevertheless, great fun...
I'm going to agree with Tim that this is a great track, but resurfacing it with a new layer of evenly spread asphalt is long due!!  
Race 1 wasn't worth for posterity on my part. Early mistake with a spin and, despite putting good effort to catch up and make the most of other drivers' mistakes, the final accident with Jari put an end to a terrible race... So back in the grid for the second race, it could only get better...

Race 2 (https://youtu.be/2LkOVkP-15g) was much more fun. The fight(s) with Mark J were the highlight of the race. He was defending with teeth and nails but I managed to squeeze my Sierra after a well-crafted attack  . All to be thrown away three turns later in that over-complicated way of entering the straight...   So back to the charge and now with two additional cars to overtake... T1 helped me a bit with Stefan and Jari having a struggle that gave me again clear sight of Mark J...  
The objective was clear and off I went to get him. It was going well when I saw my teammate struggling on the grass after T2... We both hesitated (who should be ahead!?). I had to get Mark again.   I was feeling furious after managing the first overtake, having lost it in such a poor way and I knew that with Maxime in front, things would get complicated... I went ahead and, thank goodness didn't waste time for either of us. Reached Mark soon enough and went ahead after the beemer failed to keep pointing to whatever the heck the car should point in that sort of corkscrew the track has  . All was going well and I realised I was confronting "you shall not pass" Syd   in his 4WD red Alfa ahead...
With Maxime breathing now on my neck, I had to put as much pressure as I could on the 'Lancia'... And..., I'm pleased to report to all of you guys that I broke the wall and passed him after forcing his resistance to unbearable levels... Or so I think... but, he and only him will tell the true story of events.
With the job done and reaching as far as I could... Although Max's merc was awkwardly dozing and close enough to be considered for a hunt with a few more laps... but with not enough time to reach him, I found myself starting the final lap with a speed deficit (again  ) with Maxime that, this time, really had had me... He lifted mid straight though. I guess we were engaging in teamwork but that got me confused, lost my concentration and a few turns later went wide and opened enough space for him to go through... It was right though. He was the fastest of the two Sierras yesterday. I was quite content with a well-earned P6  .

For sure it's an extremely well made track, love it, but I fully agree that if the tarmac was a bit less bumpy/rusty it wouldn't hurt my feelings. 

It was a bad racing for me yesterday, some physical weaknesses, arrived too late in the server, and with such a difficult track the punition(s) couldn't be far, with plenty of small, medium and even big mistakes.

Qualif was so bad as usual, never did a flying lap.

Race 1 : Sorry Syd for my skid at start, I was hoping to get full control back earlier. Sorry Max for our contact upto the hill, I reviewed it on the replay and I hadn't missed my braking point, but your mid-lane defense forced me to put a weel on the grass as I hadn't enough room to place my car on your right. I lost a bit the full control of my braking leading to front left wing contacting your mid right side, it disturbed your end of braking so that we both lost a bit of time and Kaï was happy.  Also sorry Stefan for my little tap on your back  thankfully you managed to nicely keep control and almsot didn't lose any time ! But this race my driving wasn't as clean as yours, sorry for that.

Race 2 : Was even worse. After a quite satisfying outlane pass on Max (I believe ?) in first few turns, I still didn't get focused enough and multiplied the mistakes again, untill the one where I spun in first triple left. That was quide bad yet but then I did the basic-angry-noobish mistakes, failing twice to recover from it. Laughable, ridiculous. Jos related the rest of the action yet. Mate, when I lifted off it simply was because I thought the race was over, lol. Sorry for the disturbing gambit strategy

Good post and fantastic vid Jos, really captures our battle well ! 

I can see my derrier skipping sideways in the video  also see you had a lot more grip in the downhill camber turns where my car wanted to wash out to the outer edges where dragons lurk. 

Nice to see my team mate was attacking you while you attacked me too  shame he got wiped out by Jaari as soon as he got past you. He could have been a good tail gunner for a while when you returned for another attack. Shame i got spat around on that exit kerb over the crest or our battle may have continued until the end.

Hah, I made a bad start, saw you coming and blocked the inside but when you went to outside in T1 I decided I didn't want to crash that soon and let you have it...   I did have a little chuckle a few laps later at you pirouetting in anger after your off in the same place,  but I know that feeling too, so

Yes, I saw you chosing to def the inside, so swapped for outside, wasn't really an attack at that time, just "put some pressure, wait and see" as I knew racing rules wouldn't allow you to change your defense that late then... But there was room for each of us, from my pov, so it's fine.

About the little chuckle, fair enough, I can't blame you for that !  I was really naming me you know...

This track is great. I ran here on SRO with the F1 of '66, but I had a disconnection (problem that I have often on that server).

The Alfa team put some pressure on me, as I wasn't having decent results. So this was the right opportunity, to push and make a good result.

Race 1: I managed to defend myself from Tim halfway through the race, but then the tires started to lose effectiveness and I lost the position.

Race 2: my start was crazy. 1-2-3 gear like a rocket. I started so well that I was near to pass Matteo too, but I preferred to don't do stupid things.
Tim has been fighting since the first laps, and at the hairpin he tried (knowing that I wasn't perfect in braking).
Luckily for me he made a mistake and this gave me breathing space for several laps. Towards the end my tires ran out and my car was trying to kill me in some corners (once I had to go full counter-steering).
Tim approached quickly and there were still 3 laps left, I thought I couldn't do it. He had a better pace and he had also hard tires. For some miraculous I managed to resist the various attacks and finish second, to the delight of the team Alfa. First 1-2 of the season!

At some points on the track I had to slow down a lot due to the awkwardness of my Alfa, but the exit from the corners was always great and allowed me to win the battle.

Matteo "Larini" ruthless as always has won two more victories, congratulations!

I think all cars simply get mesmerised with such an amazing plethora of pedals' inputs and lose half of them in perplex admiration of their new master... this reckoning on their part makes me definitively slower than I actually am . I swear, if cars were really capable of processing all my pedals inputs, I would be invincible...
