Round 1 of the Group C Fun Trophy

Ideally I'd like to run a Group C version of the Prototype Potluck series from this time last year - Sadly we don't have the numbers currently to justify that Sad

Instead I'm running this as a 'taster' if you like - The tracks are suited to the cars and are quite easy as a result (Even in the 3 low downforce LM variants!).

Rules are very simple - you must use each car only once. Up to you where you run it, but you can only do so once!
As per the last time it would be very helpful if people let me know a day or 2 before the event what they intend to run so I can ensure the server has enough of the relevant cars.

We will have a x2 fuel and tire multiplier for this series, so we can at least pretend we're having proper endurance events.

Brutal and delightful !  Cheesy

Just I was asking myself : wouldn't it be more profitable to take a better advantage of your series building work by waiting for a better attendance than these days ? Maybe we could consider running again some isolated fun events in the meantime ? There was a new racer @Bathurst but he didn't show up anymore unfortunately. Jos explained to me that he was away from home for a while but was planning to get back soon, though I didn't get more news since that time. I hope he will be back very soon though.. The Finnish boys seem to have gone pretty far. Geoffers looks to still have AC loyalty doubts appearently. And who do I forget about again ?

Don't take me wrong Tim, I appreciate very much your organising/building work, just I'm trying to think about ways to take a better/greater advantage of it thanks to better fulfilled grids..  Roll Eyes

Group C  drool

Def needs heads up on peoples car choices though, as much as i love these cars , i dont want to do a series of 50minute hotlaps with nobody to race because the car choices are too varied each round, needs some collaboration. That happened a bit in the last series of a similar format, great as it is seeing a variety on track. Though still have fond memories of racing that 917 around Sebring chasing Tim  wub
I wouldnt even mind if the car was pre-selected each event.

Top of my head (without testing) am thinking:-

962 or Mazda - Barcelona
Grobnik - err, same or Sauber
Highlands - Sauber
Monza - Longtail

Tracklist was full in the Series link at the top of the page - I don't have time for the photo yet never mind writing out all the race posts!

The lack of bods won't change if all we do is run fun races - This is basically a fun season in cars that may help drum up interest.
I'll then likely run one or 2 fun events before kicking off a longer season in the Cobra trackday jobbies given how popular they are Smiley

Currently it is my least enjoyable sim. I race 4 nights a week maximum which at the moment consists of GTL here on Mondays, RaceRoom (my current favourite) here on Thursdays & RaceRoom elsewhere on Fridays & Sundays. So unless one of those goes under I am afraid there is little chance of me joining the AC races in the near future. Sorry.

Monza modern GP and Highlands Long, right?

Def up for that. I tested for the previous race a few weeks back which I couldn't make and that car is blast, I'd race it till my hands bleed

I'm not sure it would really change anything if we can't line much more than 6 or 7 drivers up I'm afraid. Even if we were all in the same car, because in these beasts I think one can easily experiment huge laptime gaps with himself, not to talk about different drivers. I could be wrong but I'm afraid we mostly might just be racing ourselves.  Undecided

I loved practice this Merco though.. After this little run, I felt like being a man, you know, I mean.. a man.  Grin laugh

I was more thinking about spamming some PMs here and there trying to collect nice, fair and gentlemen drivers than about the kind of events.  Wink

Gave these cars a quick run around Barca and Highlands last night and while I wouldn't describe them as fun, they are challenging and immersive which is just as good in my book.

Haven't decided which car to take where as yet but as Tim says, the stronger cars are stronger everywhere so that makes choice less critical over the series and will probably lead to better racing than a spec series.

Good decision to go for a mini series now, fun races won't do as much to attract numbers. Not sure I'm up for the Cobras, not my favourite cars and predictable outcomes for most races.

I've just thrown some indicative laps up - all cars on Hards with 50ltrs of fuel and the highest safe boost for those that are adjustable.

The order is exactly what I expected, although I'm actually quite surprised at how close the 3 low drag cars are!
Those gaps will start to grow on the faster circuits, but other factors will then start to come in just throw the odd spanner into the works Wink

So we're going to need a stop for fuel. At least in the Mazda.

I think you're gonna need to pit every race anyway, at least for tyres  Smiley

I will prolly go shorttail / 787 / sauber / longtail  in that order
