Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Pm WT for series download

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (29 laps)

Track: Monza (GP), Italy (Standard track)

Car restrictions: Check your car availability here

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: x2
Pit stops: May be required

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Got rid of my 1 remaining Jelly mold drive with a useful result, so that's good.
I thought Clive was going to emulate Geoff's 0 Stop with the beemer, but I counted 3? stops
something didn't go to plan then.... Roll Eyes I was trying very hard to get 40 secs or so in front
in case he didn't stop, but didn't need to  Cool

You got it in one Matt.  Undecided
As is the case most weeks I had done little in the way of practice, but the BMW was the first car off the transporter during the practice session and once I had tweaked the setup a little I could see the possibility of a no stop race. The rest of the preparation time was spent trying to work out the strategy.
I soon became apparent to me ( and my lack of driving finesse) that running higher ratios to get to 29 laps was just too marginal on fuel. The tyres looked like they would make it with a little care.
So the plan was to run the gearbox ratios that would give me some decent performance and comfortably reach 24 laps on a tankful of gas, then stop for just 25 litres of fuel and no tyres. Brilliant plan.......poorly executed!!!

The early laps were encouraging as I kept Paul, Tony and almost Matt in sight and each lap that they were visible played in to my strategy. I picked up a cut track on Lap 2 I think after I got sucked into one of the chicanes in my eagerness to stay with the pack. But it all fell apart at around half distance when I forgot how to drive the ruddy thing for 2 laps, probably distracted by cars going into the pits on HUD. 2 cut tracks and SnG !! and that really screwed everything. that lost 25+ secs killed any chance of sneaking past Matt and made catching Tony and Paul a much bigger challenge.
After my very quick Splash and Dash I was trying too hard to maintain the speed and with some very iffy tyres ran wide and got another SnG, game over. Just to cap it all I also picked up a speeding in pitlane on the last stop  Sad.
Paul did a DNF after some hard work hassling Tony and if he had kept trundling would have caught and passed me in my multiple pitstops.

One of those pretty boring races that you are relieved when it finishes.

Very happy to get under 2m in qually but the Holden was no match for Daz & Erling's Sierras. Beat Erling off the start only to have Tony coming steaming past into the chicane, with the speed he was carrying I was sure he would overshoot but no he got around it fine  clap. Then at the second chicane I did overshoot & picked up a cut track (fortunately my only one) & let Erling past. He & Tony then had an argument about who would go through Ascari first which slowed them up & enabled me to pass Tony going down to Parabolica. And that was about it for any excitement, never really saw another car after that. I did gamble on not changing tyres which gave me a big cushion back to Matt after the stops & although the car was noticeably slower towards the end there was never much of a handling issue.

Congrats to Daz & Erling  clap clap. Maybe I should have taken the Sierra too, but the Holden sounds so much better.

The Holden is arguably more fun to drive as well Geoff, so I've saved it for a more fun track.

Was always going to be Sierra here, not too many corners to worry about. I couldn't nail the setup in the time I had, the last gasp effort in quali was the very best I could do. Race start was ok, and I saved fuel for about 10 laps or so, but then on tyres that were wearing a bit I started to make too many errors which brought Erling back on my bumper. I stayed out for 2 laps longer, which definitely helped. Came out in the lead, and then was just bringing it home. Happy to get Monza out of the way, never been a favourite, too much kerb hopping needed.

Like Daz, I never considered anything else than the Sierra; seemed like an ideal track for it.

Surprised to be on provisional pole for almost the entire qual, but cosmic rules won't be bent, so in the dying moments order was restored as it as usual went to Daz instead. Couldn't match my offline best of 57.7, but that wouldn't have been enough anyway.

Race was hard; after being so encouragingly close to Daz in qual, I decided to hammer it as hard as I could for the entire race.  Start in the Sierra is either bog down or excessive wheelspin; at least I haven't been able to find a middle ground between these. Lost a place to Geoffers as he mentions, and then one more to Tony at the first chicane, where I braked conservatively, to make sure I didn't take anyone out, but he apparently had no such qualms.  Geoffers then let me past as he said - thanks, and later on L1, a move saw me past Tony and so I was free to chase Daz.  By now he was already 5 secs up the road.  Brought it down to 3 secs, and then he had an off late in the first stint, which removed the gap.  A couple of close laps until my pit on L15, while Daz soldiered on.

After Daz' stop, the gap was a little over 6 secs (have to whip my pit crew into shape...).  Had it down to 5 secs when I hit traffic at an unfortunate place, forcing me on an non-optimum path into Parabolica. That screws up not only the lap you're on. but the following one as well.  This gave Daz another 3 secs, the gap now over 8 secs, which I had no hope of recovering. A couple of slow laps on my own accord further aggravated things, and with no immediate pressure, the chances of a mistake from Daz were slim indeed and never happend.

Grats to Daz on the win & Geoff for completing the podium.
