Well that was kinda successful for my first league race since getting the G25 to get 9th. I used manual clutch and H-pattern throughout and only badly cocked up twice. Once I spun and pressed the brake instead of the clutch so the car stalled and I spent a while working out which button I'd assigned to restart the engine and get it into the right gear and so forth. Second time I managed to press the right pedal and kept the engine running. Had a few scarey moments with not blipping on the down-shift causing the car to pump out it's ass in style, but overall seemed easy to catch slides with the G25 than the DFP, maybe I'm not going fast enough. Shocked 40 mins of practice made my lap times go down so I was obviously doing something right.

Had a few other scarey moments with a number of Falcons deciding they want to do impressions of whales across the track, but always managed to somehow avoid getting collected. laugh

So next week the question is will the real Baracus please stand up  Wink as his title is under threat with Jeff closing in fast!

Some good fun battles then Grin

Started making headway and had a good little tussle with another alpha...wasn't sure who it was as I hadn't turned tabs on by then. Made up three places when two cars ahead had a coming together and I started past them only for one of them to bump me and send me in a spin. Back of the pack again.

I think I was in that pack too .. it was good clean fighting until one person tapped you on the back ( and it wasn't me  Wink )

After that had a bog accident with a Legends Alfa I believe and my apologies to the Grey Alfa who had to go to the grass to evade me ..

I then enjoyed a lenghtly pit-stop (around 2 minutes to join the race at the very, very back) but enjoyed the track too much to give up !!

Thanks again for the good fights!

Thanks for the track/car combo choice Wink
I really enjoy it.
A huge congratulations for Jef, astonishing driving  thumbup1
And to Madd for the second place  thumbup2
I had a good start, the Falcon power helped me to jump to 3rd in first lap.
After that, i saw Ruskus and Madd-RIP running away (1 second per lap)  scooter
Meanwhile, i had to hold 3rd place from Mike attack, followed closely by Zacari and Backo.  Tongue
Then....during lap 17 (i guess), i saw Madd spining at last right corner  shifty
i thought....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....and.....hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhm.....
overtook him and i was very happy indeed, but.....he got close to me and managed to
took back the second place (deserved, as you were faster Madd)  yes
during all these thrill, i thought several times, that dude (Jeffrey) never spins? Yep, he didnt spun
one single time  Grin
Great behavior of the lapped guys  I Am Not Worthy
Great race.
Cheers

Sorry Madd, didn't mean to cause any offence. Just looking at the standings, Jeff is the one making the late charge so it looks more likely if you look at current form. If the real Baracus comes back out his shell I'm sure he's sewn it up anyway, but it's definitely now a 3 horse gallop.

Yes indeed!  I gotta stop taking these cars i've never driven before and with no practice! Smiley

That was a cool race tho. Had some intense action sorting ourselves out the first couple of laps but spent most of my race chasing John K not making up much ground! Tyres went off from abou lap 13 which i'm totally not used to dealing with, and a went wide a few times. Struggled to get 1.40's so feck knows how you were getting 36's up front!!!

I'm trying very hard not to use forum-banned expletives, but...

I was using the WRONG DARN (thought ***'s might be a little dodgy on second thoughts) VERSION OF THE TRACK WITH A LOWER GRIP FACTOR!!!!!  Angry

I wondered why I was so slow, watched the top few lapping in qually and thought hold on, same lines, just later braking and quicker apex.  In the race I was consistent 1:42 and every time I pushed a little harder I ran wide off track. But I was DRIVING ON ICE.

Through the altbierbude auto updater I had several versions of Oulton, but one loaded up automatically with the server with no mismatches, dunno why as the grip factor is 1, compared to 1.16 for the 'real' one I downloaded this morning.  Also has the wrong circuit layout on the load screen, shows the full circuit with the extra section beyond the hairpin!

So the moral is ALWAYS DOWNLOAD THE TRACK FROM THIS FORUM AND OVERWRITE ANY EXISTING INSTALL  Wink

Damn shame, these were my preferred cars and my 'local' track, well the one I've watched the most racing at and even bought my girlfriend a driving experience at last year.  Know it like the back of my hand...oh well, my own stupidity.

spent most of my race chasing John K not making up much ground!

Aaah, so that was you!
Although I think you could be more considerate about those driving in front of you, I spent the first half of the race looking in my mirrors watching you get that beast loose at sick angles  Grin Grin Wink and it was VERY distracting  Cheesy
All in all I'm a very luck chap to have 6th here as there were faster guys behind, I can only assume they were caught up in battles that held them back.
Other than watching Baracus TV in my rear view mirror I had a pretty dull race all by my self  :'(
In the last 5 laps or so Syd came hurtling past like a rocket ship and the little Prost on my left shoulder said "let him go, otherwise we'll both fall back into the grip of those behind", and that was that.
Grats to podium, and that Ruskus dude is insanely fast I Am Not Worthy

ah bugger...think i had the same track as Steve H then  Undecided  I too couldnt figure out why i was upto 5 seconds a lap slower than people in the same car !  (no comments please Jeff  Wink ).

Admittedly i only started practising about 20 mins before the event and had never raced Oulton before but even so i'm normally upto speed enough to compete in the top 10, especially in my trusty Alfa.
I was getting constant mismatch errors...another sign or wrong track version and also got ct'd during qually once. I already had Oulton on my HD so assumed Srouk were using same version by same author but now appears not Embarrassed ...D'oh, lesson learnt !

Fantastic track layout and graphics, which is why i was even more bemused to find myself 21st on grid and unable to go faster than a 1:42.??.  I too watched someone upfront do a lap and thought 'he's doing nothing different to me in brake points and lines'  Huh
Silly sausage  Embarrassed

Those Falcons looked great being driven hard, congrats to podys  Cool

A very frustrating end to a largely enjoyable race for me.  Qualified waaay up there considering the Lotus was the slowest piece of rubbish round there, started well and had good battles with BACKO and Mike throughout the race.

Then I managed to 'roll' the car in the hairpin (very very silly physics at play there Roll Eyes) and lost a place there to BACKO iirc.  Then a few laps from the end I rolled the car in the chicane, with the unfortunate result of catapulting over the armco and into the infield Shocked Shocked Sad Unlike most normal tracks, there were no gaps in the barriers to rejoin, so I ended up trundling round the entire infield back to the pits where there was a gap.  That lap wasn't counted so I ended up having to do another lap aswell, which cost me a total of about 4 minutes Angry quite funny looking back on it, but damn annoying at the time!  Just for fun I rolled it on the last lap too laugh

Shame as I'd have easily kept my top-6 place Sad grats to the podium guys as always Smiley
