Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 51s

Baracus brakes far later than those around him into T1 and, despite his best efforts to avoid contact, hits the back of Ruskus very hard. It was only through a mixture of luck and Ruskus's driving skills that a very serious incident was avoided. Credit goes to Baracus for admitting his mistake and apologising accordingly.

Server replay time: 53s

Steve Holmes gets a very good start, overtakes a few but brakes much later than those around him, and probably too late, into first turn. Unfortunately, he clatters into Dan Minton, effectively ending his race and causes chaos for those behind. Much to his credit, Steve has owned up to his mistake and apologises for it.

Both these first turn incidents share the same underlying problem which needs to be addressed. Both Steve and Baracus appear to be trying to gain places whilst those around them are proceeding with great caution, hence even two of our best and fairest drivers were caught out by the careful and slightly early braking into first turn. We want to continue to see the same common sense and cautious approach to the first corner and, now this issue has been raised, we do not want to see the same mistakes that featured here again. Yes, race and take places into first turn but equally, be very wary.

  • Steve Holmespenalty — Penalty - Rear end shunt — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 1123s

Ade spins whilst trying to hold off PR into first tight chicane. To be fair he ends up in an awfull spot right on the racing line and you can almost sense him mulling over his options. Unfortunately, he gets it a little wrong and reverses into Tin Man whilst being unsighted. Considering no damage was done, the tight spot Ade was in and how TinMan is willing to let it pass then no penalty is necessary.

Racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 2000s

After the unfortunate first turn incident Dan expresses his displeasure via the in-game chat. Whatever the provacation, there can be no excuse for this behaviour. Considering the language used, perhaps this may have been passed over without the similar later incident and Dan has publicly apologised for his mistake so this will only result in a warning.

Warning-abusive language.

Server replay time: 2000s

After another incident, in which no blame has been apportioned, Assassino expresses his displeasure via the in-game chat. But he uses much more colourful language and is far more personnal in his abuse than the earlier incident. Again, there is no provocation that can justify this reaction. As this is a more serious offence than earlier incident, reluctantly we have no choice but to exclude Assassino from this event.

These two incidents have shocked and suprised us all and will not be tolerated again. This time, we have been inclined to be somewhat lenient in our punishments but if anyone errs in this manner again the penalty will be far more draconian. No one wants to see it and we will not accept it again.

I guffed my race on the start getting a False Start Stop Go. I came out of pits, did a good lap, then came out of the chicane to a 3 car spin out. Somehow I sped through the wreckage without a scratch, untill I drifted wide and hit the curb causing me to flip.

Was a fight to keep my car tame whenever I would turn right after that, and finally as Ruskus was comming to lap me I clipped the curb comming out of the pit chicane and flipped a good 20-30 times in the air before landing outside of the track. Sorry if anybody clipped me during my airborne racing.

Did anyone else feel like a turd being chooted out of a colon on this track?  lol

I am dying to see the replay and see where i start according to the replay...

Hope you all had a fun 17 lap race

hmmm.. got the same thing with a quick race when I started 24th... you actually start outside of the track.

Shame, because with you're new found Karma it could have been points....  Grin

I'm frankly disgusted by some of the abuse hurled out on chat during race tonight Angry It may be a cwap track or maybe some cwap driving but we have a system in place to deal with that. Hopefully the two people involved will have calmed down a bit by now and be man enough to apologise, privately, for it.

Really is unacceptable. And, as Bob said, don't discuss it here.

Well that was the worst race i've done for a long time. Not happy with myself atm :-(

Series of errors induced by the Ferrari! I want to love it but its so unforgiving it makes it hard to Tongue

It had the pace but as soon as you get even slightly off the optimum line/throttle/steering inputs ur in trouble.

Really sorry to JR about the ram into T1 - completely underestimated the uselessness of the brakes particularly when cold and with lots of fuel!

Had a decent few laps getting into the flow but pushing too hard and hit the barriers once too often and the handling was getting worse and worse until it was so bad that the brakes did absolutely nothing other than pitch me into the barriers again - giving me a puncture. Limped around (coming off at every bend) for a 147 second repair pit-stop. Carried on for the fun of it but it bit me again :-(

Guess I will console myself with fastest lap for the Fez Wink

Really tough track but I did like it. If we could go again I know where I went wrong - rematch anyone lol!

Was happy with a PB in qually.

Didn't know about ingame fuel calculations so I started with a full tank (80L) just to be sure  Roll Eyes.

At the beginning had Assa and Bara behind me and it was close. When that gap increased I kept it slow and stay away from trouble.

I have one question about this track. Why was this time of day chosen? It's already a very dangerous track, so why make it even more dangerous with a blinding sun?
Also, were there enough grid spots on this track, because Sandor started in the park?

I agree with you on the chat SBG, check the moderator's board for the discussion Smiley.

Crikey that was nerve shredding Smiley

Baulked a couple of times in quali but wouldn't have gained a place anyways with the great pace up front. Just drove well within myself until I could assess what was happening. And to be honest nothing much happened at first, with a big gap in front and behind. Then Bara and Mike both slipped up and I felt duty bound to race them Wink. Bara was to fast for me and duly slipped by but Mike I could just about hold up. I had great fun trying to out think and hold him up but it was wrecking my nerves. A backmarker slipped a way in front I got cautious and Mike slipped cleanly past. Congrats on pulling the French thing up there Smiley

Backmarkers were excellent as Mike and I came through, and throughout race Smiley. Apologies to Sid for the scare as I went to flash my lights to thank you but almost clobbered you instead. Congrats to JR, Mike and all that finished. Back to the wide open spaces next week Smiley

I have one question about this track. Why was this time of day chosen? It's already a very dangerous track, so why make it even more dangerous with a blinding sun?
Also, were there enough grid spots on this track, because Sandor started in the park?

Atomsphere, and I didn't think it was "blinding". However, it certainly made it more tricky which was a mistake. We will not make the same one again when the next street circuit race comes around, next season some time Wink We did, of course, test full grids and all seemed well and can only apologise to Sandor if that was the case we won't Porto again if it was.

Great fun Cheesy

Surprised at my grid position, and knew that some of those big-engined monsters would be past me before T1 , and so they did.  Ended up in 4th though and was looking at quite a lonely race when I mis-shifted at T1 and spun.  Lost a place to Ginsters.  No damage, so I plugged away, reduced the gap and then spent quite a few laps wondering how the hell I was going to pass a Healey around here   laugh I could get right on him through the turns, but onto the long straight the Healey pulled effortlessly away!  I had to keep the pressure on and try and force a mistake, I finally got one which let me get a run on him and outbrake him into T1 and 2nd place!  Shocked

The French thing is good fun to drive I have to say, even if it won't pull the skin of a rice pudding  Roll Eyes

Congrats Jeffrey and everyone who finished!

EDIT: Why don't the cars from the skin pack show up on my replay??

Guess I couldn't have picked a better circuit for my first race with you - figure it can only get better LOL.

Actually I thoroughly enjoyed it but was taken completely by surprise at the effect of the low sun.  I just couldn't see the edge of the road well enough to put in a lap time any where near what I expected. In future I'll remember to practice at the same time of day.
Starting from the back of the grid I managed to avoid all the carnage at T1 and someone on their side heading for T2.  Only hit the wall hard once and don't think I got in any of the front runners way when being lapped.  Just a note on being lapped - some of you were difficult to pick up in the mirror as it was pretty dark, think it would have alerted me better if you had flashed me (your head lights that is not the other  Grin)
Congratulations not only to the podium but everyone still running at the end.

Where can I find the replay as I need to study some of those incredible Alpine lap times.

Great race and well done to all the finishers. Besides the "activity" at the first corner I didn't witness any bad driving at all. I managed, early on, to glance a concrete wall which spun me around and I subsequently got smacked a good'un by another unsuspecting driver. This twatted my steering but didn't prevent me from finishing a rather quite race.
Wouldn't mind driving here again, it was ok.
One thing tho... why is it that doing off-line practise my times are better than on-line? The on-line track just seemed really slippy. I've noticed it before but last night I found it really obvious.

Don't think difference is quite as marked as GTR2 where offline pracci is almost pointless for me. The server has next GTL track running straight after race night (cheers Bob) so, as I don't have much time for pracci, I tend to do all mine online.

Again the standard mixed reaction to street circuits Smiley Whoever does S6 will no doubt risk another one and I think it would be a shame if they didn't. Gotta say, apart from 1st corner mess, everyone did their best to make it work  angel. Ta.
