1st race in gtl and probably the best race i will ever have.sumhow got pole with a Pb early doors, then having to wait to see if Keith could top it.
Luckilly he didn't as i needed to be as high up the Grid as possible as i am laim at starts which proved to be as i was quickly swamped.
Luckily a clean 1st corner and a misstake buy fellow panterea let me back into 2nd which just left Keith to catch, finally did and we overtook eachother a few times, with some clean crisp takes. Then Keith got a couple of seconds gap which soon turned to 5 seconds when sumone left as i was on an apex which caused me to go off ,5 seconds behind now i decided to consolidate 2nd place until 3 or 4 laps left when i just went for it as they tyres were surprisingly fine closing the gap to around 2.5 seconds the the race was over , just needed another 2 laps to make it interesting.
Anyway congrats to Kieth on a great win and a superb clean fight, luck forward to racing next season with you all  laugh

Another amazing sunset, i didnt realise GTL graphically was that good!

Managed to get a half decent lap in qualy early on then just tried circulating but didnt really improve at all. After a tweek to the dampers, first lap out and i improved to 6th, which turned into 7th eventually. Great! all i need is a good start Roll Eyes

Just in the middle of the countdown i realise i have no idea what to do! Got far too much wheelspin and took the easy route of change up to second but i bogged down and ended up back around 12th. Then got a bit confused and hit the barriers when the two prodigy guys infront decided to take both the inside and outside lines through turn 2! Then spent the rest of the time trying crawl back up the order but twice spinning after getting too wide at the slow left hander meant i was nowhere near anyone and just carried onto the finish.

Good race for me, finished 4th and great result for Legends with 3rd and 5th places also won by my team mates  Cool

Only two other guys i was really racing tonight bizzarely. One was Mr Oilly, my only real competitor as we ran 4th and 5th for first 10-15mins of race both on the same pace until whilst trying a bit of pressure on him, i pressed the brake pedal just a tad too hard and got an almighty tank slappper down at T1 that saw me embroiled in the catch fencing. That was the end of that chase as i lost about 12-15 seconds and had no hope of re-catching the top 4.
Unluckily for Oilly he appears to have had contact and i claimed 4th a few laps later in race.
The rest were still about 7 seconds behind me for last 15mins odd, so i was pleased for the company of Will in his Green 'Hulk' Pantera even though he was just trying to unlap himself  Tongue Thats the first car ive seen look good in that disgusting green paintwork !  Grin Wink Looked like he could have had a decent result with that pace other than going off a few times.

The race felt like an enduro to me oddly, no one really near me on track and a good case of keeping concentration and consistency to bring the car home in a good position.
In the end i coasted home to a fairly easy 4th place and fastest of the non-pantera crew  Cool

The sunset across Kyalami looked absolutely superb, great work gents, very atmospheric  Kiss

Grats all, got to take my hat off to you chaps in the Pantera's. Was convinced you'd have to make a mistake as the tyres disappeared and victory would be mine!  Grin Unfortunately it didn't quite go to plan!

Couldn't believe your early pace either Jonzo, that 906 was keeping up nicely even when I felt relatively hooked up so fair play, 4th well earned, shame we didn't get to carry that on a bit longer. I couldn't believe my luck when you dissappeared from my mirrors but my left front was cooking up a storm and wearing heavily with 10 laps to go so I think it might have been closer than it first looked.

Bit gutted about the outcome obviously, not going to moan and apology accepted but would be really good if it didn't happen again  thumbup1

Good to see ya back Will, thought you'd pulled a blinder for a moment there into T1!

Cheers for another quality sprint season all, they just seem to get better and better.

Next stop, a little bit of something for the Kent massiv and ting  punk

yeah it was good fun for opening 10-15 mins Oilly, i was enjoying keeping your more powerful Capri honest and the leading panteras were only a couple of secs ahead at that point.
Like you, i was thinking okay just keep in touch with the panties ahead and their tyres will surely melt in last 10 mins of race and/or they would get lairy and have off's and Victory would be mine !!...but alas, they never blinking did  Roll Eyes

Great season again, top work chaps !  Cool

Firstly I’ve gotta say great drives from both Sooty & Mark Jonzo (fastest non-Pantera)

My quali went well – could have been better I guess, but what-the-hell 2nd is great for me.

As for the race?
Wow, I got 1st …. fantastic! I’m sooo  happy Smiley  Had a good start, P1 by T1….Sooty repassed me few laps later….but that was no big deal and I was happy to follow closely behind.
Mid race my car seemed happier in the corners than Sooty’s, but I guess he had taller gearing –  so it was hard work keeping up on the long straight. Took a while a get a better exit on to the straight and finally pass under braking in to T1.
I managed to keep in P1 until the end – the time gap was coming down at end but my car was stable, with no big tyre issues (i was easy on them during the race) – I probably ran late 1:26’s in the final laps?

Well it’s been a while since I’ve got 1st in a league type race – last time was Bude’s porker Cup earlier this year.

1st in simracing league race, mann that’s better than getting a Gold Star in BF2 for POOdleSquad  Wink

** Thanks to [POOdle]Andy for practice battles in the build up to this race. **

That was a little bit of a dull race after the first half lap, just trundling round keeping it very safe to get 3rd, which was all I needed to get second in the championship with PR and Ginsters missing.

Start was fun, I got a good one, was looking to get into 2nd behind Keith after Sooty's slow start, but the gap closed and I had to lift, so all momentum gone.  Then Will came flying through so I braked easy for T1 and off he shot like an Exocet.  Shocked  Settled into 3rd and stayed with Sooty and Keith for several laps until I noticed Oily's Capri slipping back so I eased off and that was it.  No point pushing to stay on Sooty's tail, I don't really have the speed in the 76 cars to challenge for victory, so I just took it easy and kept close enough to benefit from any mistakes the top 2 made.  But tyre wear on the Pantera was very light, so the car never got difficult to drive.

The only interest was occasionally picking the pace up if I noticed I'd done a good 1st sector just to try and beat my fastest lap.  That was definitely the most strategic race I've driven, and consequently one of the rare mistake-free Pantera drives.

Sorry to pip you by 2 pts in your absence Ginsters.   Wink

Grats to Keith for the win (try raising the rev limit to 7000/7100!!) and Sooty for a great debut.

Thanks.  My problem appears to be that I try not to impede the overtakers and move over and take a tight or wide line into corners often getting cutting track warnings.  I'm sorry to say I've now had 3 incidents,  including this one, by taking a tight line and having probems with kerbs .  I think in future I'll wait until after corners when it's safer.

Once again sorry.

Yeah no worries Bill, I always used to find it a nightmare being lapped, particularly if you're trying to run your own race.

Personally I found it started to get a bit easier when I flashed my lights once when ready to be overtaken, just took some of the uncertainty out of it. The others might think differently but from what I can gather its just a case of being predictable. Even if you don't move much and just drive your normal line, that's a whole lot easier to deal with for the person behind...there are some SROU guidelines knocking around somewhere if you're really keen Wink

Yeah, I saw you run off track in my mirrors when you let me through Bill.   Undecided

You only need to pull offline after exiting a corner and lift slightly to let lappers by, or do like Oily says.  We all (I certainly do) appreciate the consideration of cars being lapped but honestly no need to ruin your race by getting out of the way too suddenly.  I would hope all of us when lapping are perfectly okay with losing half a second or so through a corner behind a car, better that, than a lapped car falling off track and making everyone unsure what is going to happen.

But thanks for being thoughtful, just don't ruin your race because of it!

I just love this track  Grin
I'm not good and this is the first race I didn't make an error . So it must be the track laugh
Had a fun race with my first ever top 10 finish . Hope to get my levels a bit up before next season start so there will be more of these races from my side.

 Shocked

Great result! Even some points for our team !! (now that''s a first...)

Think we have to paint more cars with single malts  Wink
