Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 206s

Spanner passes Sandor at the hairpin but the Falcons power sees Sandor back infront by the braking zone for the chicane.
Sandor does move back over to the racing line a little too soon and almost imediately has to hit the brakes for the turn. This gave Spanner little or no time to react and the inevitable rear contact occured.
This incident would have been avoidable if Sandor had stayed on the line he had passed on and not moved back over to the racing line directly in front of Spanner.

Server replay time: 862s

Dan is lapping Jimmer (racepace) and catches him on the aproach to the hairpin. Dan goes to the right to make the pass but Jimmer seems to lose the rear end of his car slightly and this sends him to the right also.
Just an unfortunate event that ended with no harm done to either party.

Racing incident.

Server replay time: 897s

Sandor, in a falcon, was much faster down the s/f straight than Legzy but did not gain quite enough on him to attempt a pass before T1. Sandor seemed to realise this a little late and hit the brakes in an attempt to avoid contact, but he had left it a little late and clipped the rear quarter of Legzy's car.
No damage was done and Legzy kept his place.

Server replay time: 1047s

Not quite as simple this one.
Again Sandor is faster aproaching the chicane and brakes slightly later to get on the inside of Legzy. Whilst this move was possibly not the ideal place to try an outbraking manouver in a Falcon vs a 'Tina, Sandor does actually get around 1/3 overlap legitimately and therefore has every right to be where he was.
Legzy actually moves right, almost blocking Sandors move, a fair bit earlier than he has done on previous or following laps and turns onto the apex normally leaving no room whatsoever for Sandor and forcing him into the tyre wall.
**NOTE**
Passing and being passed appoaching corners, the critical moment is the turn in point, not the braking point. The earlier the overlap the better, of course, but if the intent is telegraphed with an early move and a reasonable overlap achieved before the lead car gets to the point where it has to turn in, that should be good enough in a gentlemanly racing environment.

  • Legzycaution — Closing the door on a car with overlap
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Racepace is being lapped by Ade (who gives him a nudge in the chicane). Rp accelerates away normally and starts to move to the right when he realises Ade is still there, so he straightens up and lifts slightly to allow the slower accelerating car through.
This move caught Syd a little by suprise and he tagged the rear of RP's car sending him onto the grass. Syd then moves wide and accelerates away but unfortunately gets a wheel on the grass which sends him into a spin. Both Geoffers and RP are close and have to slow substantially to avoid Syd's car.
Evert is aproaching up the hill under full acceleration but shows no sign (no lift/braking etc) of any awareness or caution to the incident ahead and runs full tilt into the back of RP.

Racepace, whilst trying to do the right thing by assisting a lapping car through, caused a few other problems with his actions. ONLY lift off when it is safe to do so....unfortunately, the lapping car will just have to wait :)

Upto then I would consider this a racing incident.
However Evert's lack of caution must be penalised...regardless of who may be the initial cause of an incident you CANNOT aproach an incident under full throttle causing additional mayhem.

I've hit 1:40 once & can't get near it again. Oh well, I guess I'll be way down the pack... But I do enjoy driving the Falcon, great fun  Evil

So many easy replies to this but so little time!

You'll be pleased to hear that I think I might be able to get on line for some practice a bit earlier tonight. But you keep your eyes on the road & your hands on your wheel.  Grin

Found a bug earlier: If you pick the Mustang in Black with Red stripes, you're invisible to everyone else and you stay invisible until you restart GTL. Changing car makes no difference, you have to restart it.

Don't know if this is a known bug or not. Undecided

Thats odd I've, and others here have used that Stang with no problems I recall. If any of you experience same problems at least you know what to do now, and do report them here afterwards.

Hope the race is as much fun as pracci session tonight Smiley

Twas fun thiugh...and I learnt that there is no way that the Tina can compete here with the tanks....it just gets eaten on the straights and there are ONLY straights here.  Roll Eyes

Are, the hidden "stealth" option.

I'm getting a new graphics card tomorrow. I am HOPING to have it installed in time for the race. (Gonna be tight. I'm going to have about an hour to do everything.)

Yeah, it could be frustrating for Cortina drivers - it's quick, prolly as quick as the Falcon, but in all the wrong places.  I hope no-one in a Cortina gets stuck behind my Stang tonight, I'll feel guilty holding them up the entire race.... Wink

Slowly getting down to mid 38s, the question is how much more grass is reasonable to take through the chicane section.   Grin

What are the rules for that? Is it the same as other GTL: 2 wheels on the track?

The key to that chicane is tailbraking. Put brakebias rearwards a lot and lock the rears under braking, kicking the tail out and pointing the nose in the right direction.
It's also great fun Grin.

yep, this is definitely a very rear brake bias track...and it's also fun controlling the rear end as it swings from one side to the other mid chicane.

I've been pretty conservative taking grass on the left of the chicane, take another foot or so and your left wheel bangs the kerb and launches the car onto its right wheels, both Tony and I did that online last night, amusing, but not fast.  The high grip also causes the front right to stick and you end up on your nose then your roof.  I reckon there are better ways.  Unless we are going to award time bonuses for style? Undecided

The question is whether you can keep the right tyres on the tarmac whilst totally straddling the left hand kerb and therefore not getting launched, experimentation needed.
