Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 300s

Allsorts going on here.
Legzy runs a little wide and loses a bit of momentum allowing Spanner a chance up the inside of the long left hander.
Spanner gets good overlap...in fact he actually gets slightly ahead before locking up a wheel on braking.
This sends him wide and there is contact with the front of Legzy's car which spins him out and causes problems for others further down the road.
No penalties have been asked for so none given....but both drivers could have used a little more caution so early in the race.

You may recalll that I actually asked for the Lotus to be banned. .

Yeah, and then you went and drove it Tony, so I couldn't really see your point.

Why does anyone care what car anyone else is driving?. I couldn't care less what other people drive, or whether all the cars on the grid are the same make. That's partly the point in skinning the cars. As long as the racing's good (and this season it has been very good)what does it matter?

Rant over.

Think TC is probably right, although it was a shame there wasn't more variety it doesn't actually detract from the racing.  We could alternate races with predictable car choice then next time exclude the Cobra/Elan, that would make for interesting choices, TVR, Daytona, Vette.  Smiley  To be fair to all the people that took Elans (and Cobras), I only took the Corvette as a challenge in a championship I'm not trying to score points in, just have fun, and anyway I really enjoy driving it. If I was racing for big points I might have taken one of the same two cars as everyone else.  So extra credit to PR who was well up in the championship and still grabbed the gorgeous e-type.

I'd say that restricted car choices do work best, definitely in GTC65.  I don't think we could really do different sub-classes, could end up with only 2 or 3 in some groupings, be a bit lonely.

Oh, question - if I manage to drive into the pits in qually, will the position of my pit box be the same as it will be in the race?  Yes, this is how little preparation I've ever done for pitstops.  Still gutted that I simply couldn't see my pitbox hidden away behind the pit entry wall as I entered the pits, after battling incredibly hard for every tenth to catch 6-8th to then lose 20-odd seconds driving through really hurt.  :'(

Now the race post.... Grin

TBH, my thoughts just before join the server were: 90% Elan´s, 9% Cobra´s and my E-Type,
(ofcourse these % are just random)
i was wrong, there was a Corvette too.  Cool
I really don´t blame the individual choices, the options were there. But got a feeling that, some
drivers choosed a car that weren´t really confortable in, just because is a fast car (theoretically).

As for me, you already know that i like the challenge of a (theoretically) - man, i wrote 2 times now this
word, i hope its correct.  Tongue
- lower performance car.  wacko
But, this is a personal option, i´m weird....hmmmm....maybe.... lol
Example: next LeMans race, i will drive the BMW, not the 1000hp Corvette or the 999hp Pantera  eek

But quali was not bad, 17th spot and there we go, first lap i was in a respectable 10th place
(luck, but i was there), lap after lap, i began to loose some places as the Cobra and Elan lads,
recover their places.
Had a first fight with Jebstone, nice one, a second (longer and cool) with Ade and a third with Spanner.
I hope you considered my driving defence fair, got a good exit corners, but a bad entering one.
Elan´s just go inside so well.
After the close encounter with the spinning Jebstone car (sorry but i really couldn´t avoid you),
all corners to the left had must made slower, suspension damage, cost me ~2 seconds a lap.
Late pit stop (as almost usual)  Smiley and a final lap struggling with no fuel and no rear tires,
i didn´t changed them, despite during pit stop they were with a rear wear of 30ish
Very fun race as usual, but no doubt this is a Cobra/Elan track. They should have a class
of their own as long as they don´t race together at Monza.
The things are not very easy to the last race to Ghostspeed team, Assassino quit and Baracus
didn´t show up.
Congrats to Dan win and to Mad and mr_oily for the podium.  thumbup2
Nice jump on the points table SBG, nice 4th overall  Wink

Hats off to Steve Corvette choice.

I spent 10 hours writing this text, but i made it, i hope with an average understandable English

Cheers guys, i love to race with you all

Because I could. Actualy had the circuit stayed as Jarama I was trying different cars out like the Merc and the GT350. But I hate Phillips Island and simply couldn't be bothered to learn another cars handling for this one track. I'd already had outings in the TVR twice this season and nothing else worked for me so I chose the Lotus.

The only thing that Kept me from driving the Aston Martin was the fact that Prodigy doesn't have a paint for it.

I'm a team player, and I like to wear my colors. The TVR wasn't an option as I didn't feel like fighting with it for 80 minutes (this likely being my only race this season), and after remembering how it was last time I was in Australia, it definately wasn't tickling my fancy. The GT350 - well, it's a FORD.

The Blotus was my only remaining option Smiley

I was going to drive the GT350 but my best time with it was 2:00.something. If I'd have driven that I'd have been dangerously slow.

I agree that with an enduro you need a car you're comfortable with - it's many laps.  Cool I had battles early on with Sandor and Alex until I over cooked it.  Roll Eyes My pit stop went OK - I tend to drive conservatively at the pit stop.  I've lost more time shuttling back and forth or with a stop and go cursing
 than I lose being carefull.
Apologies to Tony for racing you - I thought you were the car shown a few seconds behind me.  oops That's why I flashed my lights after you mussled by.  It was only when a Corvette overtook me I realised my mistake, I confirmed it with the lap board and lifted off to let 2 of you through.  Sorry, hope it didn't affect your result.

Near the end Alex had an off and I got by and managed to hold him off until the end.  Only 2 laps down - that's a first.  thumbup2

If a lot of people are unhappy about the cars theat some people take, then why not do more single type races ( I find these extremely good fun). Apparently the merc sprint you all did a while back was quite good, so lets do a few more, I'm not bothered about trying different cars. (GT40 or Escort one make races/championship)

In fact that is what I've done in the last couple of races, Pantera and Cobra have been used instead of my Capri and Elan.

I tested both cars (Cobra/Elan) extensively for setting up purposes and came to the conclusions that decided my race cars.

Hopefully next season with a possibly larger selection of cars will diversify the field again, but people do have their favourites and must not be lambasted for continually racing them.

Would any people here be willing or interested in a one make championship for example, I know the workload of the organisers is high enough already but would it be viable option perhaps?

PS priberio I missed our usual scrap, even though oily kept harrassing me!

Apologies to M. Cooper I forgot that the Cobra has such censored brakes. Embarrassed
I did a drive through on the lap afterwards, but I think you'd already retired by then.

I'm not sure we really have to justify our car choice when the whole class was available for anyone to drive. I think we all knew beforehand it was going to be an Elan/ Cobra fest so no-one can really moan when it did turn out to be one. Why would i pick a car i'm slower in when we all want to do as well as i can and pick the car we're fastest and consistent in.

Can't say i was particularly happy about this track in practise beforehand so wasnt really looking forward to the race, almost hoping to get taken out!
Anyway, managed to get a good start trying to thread my way through everyone and turning into the first LH'er seemd to have most of the pack fanning out behind. Seemed to end up running surrounded by Team Oldie initially and with Tinman understeering wide into turn 2 i tried taking a tighter line and nearly managed it but you tightened up and we hit with you spinning off. Sorry about that Tinman. But you seemed to catch back up as i was up behind Blunder who seemed to be struggling in the slower stuff as i nearly hit you a few times.

Later on i could see Ade getting closer behind me and couldnt really keep him behind but he caught Pribero which held him up as i manged to catch the two of them which lead to some close racing but i thought i'd pit as he was slowing me a bit. Managed to come out on my own and ended up 8th after a few others pitted and then on the final lap i get distracted wondering if its the final lap or not as i cant read the Hud and completely forget i have a corner coming up! Luckily there was plenty of grass but by the time i came back on Ade had gone past! I was hoping to close the points down to him but i seem to consistently 9th at the enduro's! Hopefully that will change as i cant wait for Lemans.

Did my best but was snapping at ya heels only Madd, was shocked to even be doing that seeing your pace in practice, was getting more and more frustrated watching those lap times drop as mine climbed lol! I'm not sure I'd do a one-make series purely due to time but I'm definitely up for more mixed one-make events thrown in to the mix - a great way to use the add-on cars. Escort a must, haven't had the pleasure in a SROU race but would love to.

Just my opinion but I don't think people's car choice is such a big deal, throughout the course of a season I feel like I get the opportunity to drive everything from washing machines to ocean liners. I hear the grumble re the time invested in add-on cars but if you ask me they've been a success. Ok not week in week out but I bet there's not many who haven't enjoyed the Aston, M1 and 250 at some stage and will continue to do so over time. As for one model racing, I thought the Abarths were hilarious, the Mercs were a real giggle, the pre-season Astons at Hockenheim again were lots of fun and I think those events work well.

I'll happily drive anything but the reality is that on some tracks it looks very tricky to produce a car choice where there are more than two or three realistic race winning models. Less so with TC-65 but last night I felt pretty confident that only the Cobra or Elan were competitive so nothing else appealed. When a big part of the appeal of well organised league racing is the thrill of the competition I don't think it's that much of a surprise people don't fancy the slower stuff.
