And this is where it gets interesting! Which car can get you a decent number of points but not cost you much out of your budget? We won't all be close together, but it should mean that over the season everyone has a chance to run up front and also battle hard in the midfield.

I agree and I really believe that it will be very interesting.  Cheesy

Are you able to join us for a couple of races then Ruskus?
If you are, you can be fairly confident your token count will be about the same as Ayrton's (46 tokens) or less  laugh.

Will be great to have you with us! Cool

Well consider yourself on 46 tokens for the season then Jeff. I'll stick you on the official list with an official total after your first race.

Right, I recommend everyone better go do some practice to keep up! LOL Wink

Hi Burtoner, will be good to see you too.  Smiley
I'll unofficially pop you on '70 Tokens' for the season for now & we'll see how you go in your first race.
After your first race I may be able to give you more (or less) tokens. Keep an eye on any laptimes people post in cars they think they will likely drive... you can then gauge what cars you could drive to be about the same pace.  Smiley

Still got any questions about it, let me know.

I came back today, and noticed the small amount of tokens assigned to me Sad... I hope that the race spirit will be the same and that cars like GT40 (especially the Terrifying Gulf) and similar monsters, will be cut off on the available car choice for this race. To make an example, today i tried for 35-40 laps with the 289 roadster, and i managed a PB of 2.08.9 (2.08.1 for Ayrton), then i tried with the Gt40 Mk I Gulf and after 4 laps and I've done a 1.56.0 (1.55.1 for Ayrton). That means i will probably be lapped on this race near the lap ten losing at least 10 secs per lap...
My idea is to make a section of available cars for this race among 1 to a maximum of 15 tokens available to spend for the car choice. The other idea is to put a time limit... like... don't know... 2.04.0 or 2.05.0?!?! maybe could be a good idea. I think that if the target remains having some close races, some limits should be put in every race.
Moreover we are in times of economic crisis, and the purchasing power is falling down for the Italian fellas... try to give us a little help Smiley Smiley Smiley
I wait for your opinions. Cu Smiley

I think the tokens method is spot on for this type of series. Surely only a fool would take the Gulf and spend all those tokens.

anyone got a decent setup?

I think that if the target remains having some close races, some limits should be put in every race.

I think that this Token system might be a very reasonable and fun option.
As for the close races, 99% of the races I just don't practice a single lap.
Some drivers practice 200 laps, how can we make this more fair also?
People can say, if you don't practice it is your own problem. True.
But people can say also, if you have less Tokens it's because you practice a lot therefore
have more time to tweak setups and learn each track driving lines better.
Token system trys to match and make things more similar for all.
Lets not complain for now. The main spirit of Tokens is to try to have a more fair championship
and a bit of strategy (which I really love) chosing the car depending of what we want/can spare.
Lets applause Master Legzy and Tony's work for their P&G and GTL fantastic seasons effort.

  • If you fail to score a point in a race (or attend at all), you will still lose your average number of Tokens*
So if I decide to be prudent and take the TR4 (1 Token) but I am too slow to score any points it will cost me 8 (56/7) Tokens?

Thanks Manteos, I've already thought of those two ideas before. But this is the first race with the tokens & I wanted to keep it as simple as possible for everyone. Upper & lower spending limits may appear in future races if they appear neccacery. Same goes for target time zones.

For this race at least, we'll see how it goes. Smiley

The problem with your example Manteos, is that any driver of your ability (& capable of getting near your 1:56 laptime) who takes the GT40 will find themselves is the Alpine for the remaining races laugh. Anyone that can budget the tokens to take the GT40 should be considerably slower then you (that's why they've got more tokens) & are also less likely to bang in consistent laptimes. I know I like to take trips onto the grass regularly  Wink
