Damned  Angry Angry was struck by some strange mismatch in the middle of the qualification ..... I tried to reenter, loaded about 8 cars and then the game crashed :'(

Doesn't really encourage you to practice for a race, when you never know, if it's gonna work or not  Undecided

Grrrrr....... if only these cars and tracks were available in LFS. When I raced LFS I never experienced all those stupid online mismatches that both P&G and GTL produce.

Sorry to hear that mate. Try downloading Game Booster. It can sort out a load of troubles.

Grin Another interesting race. Ade and I were on Team Speak and both decided to take the Tina's out for another spin. We bet on the Jags running out of rubber. Everyone was fairly close on quali times so it looked to be a close race.  Grin

I battled for many laps with Sid and Gold Top, Gold top was quick to beggin with, and we swapped places a few times both trying to size up Sid's Jag, but Sid was having none of it!  Smiley Eventually Gold top dropped back but try as I might I could not close the 4 sec gap to Sid. Ade was having similar problems with Geoffers and Mr J and by lap ten we started having discusions about exactly when the Jag tyres would go off?  Huh Luckily for me I saw a big puff of smoke in the distance which marked the end of Sid but by lap 25 Ade and I had given up all hope of the Jag tyre theory and we were now banking on a forlorn hope of the smell of Jag engine cooking gently over a hot BBQ.

Lap 30 came and Mr J's engine had had enough.................P1 for Geoffers, P2 for Ade, P3 for me  angel Well done guys and thanks for another great event Tony.  Grin

Just checking, this is on Monday right  Smiley

Should be able to make this one  Smiley

As for tonight's race, a nice battle with Mark for many laps until I just clipped the grass on exiting Stowe and I was off lawn mowing. Made a couple more silly errors trying to chase back and ended up running alone for 10 laps or so to the end  Roll Eyes

Those Jags make good barbeques.

It was nice running the old school Silverstone. Haven't been there in awhile and it brought back some nice GPL memories Grin. I had a OK start but got passed by Geoffers before turn one. I was able to get back by before the end of the lap 1 and then Geoffers and I were dance partners for the rest of the race.. Well... 29 3/4 laps anyways Embarrassed. I was in the lead for about 1/3 of the race and then realized there would be no way to make it at that pace with the fragile Jag. So I started shifting earlier and Geoffers was able to get back by. I ran the tallest gear in the Jag. 2nd and 3rd gear matched up pretty well with most corners but 4th gear was just a little too short for the long straights. At some point a small off by Geoffers allowed me back by but it was still a balancing act the whole way with race pace vs engine life. Geoffers got held up a bit about 3/4 through which allows me to save a bit on engine life but slowly but surely Geoffers reeled me in and on the 2nd to last lap I had to push pretty hard to stay in front and when I started my last lap I noticed 1% of engine life Shocked. Gulp!! With a half lap to go it was 0% and I just waited for the inevitable :'( That said, Geoffers clearly deserved the win as his race pace was better than mine and if he had not gotten slowed a bit he would of passed me much earlier and sailed on for the win. So big Congrats to Geoffers for a well deserved win and thanks for the fun battle Wink. Grats also to Ade for second and Mark for a solid 3rd place. Look forward to the next race. A gem of a track called Crystal Palace Cool Hope I can make that race.. Cheers all Grin

That was a fun race, battling with Navin for (nearly) the entire distance.  thumbup1

I understood the Jag engine was a bit fragile, but when I tested it offline it was no problem, stayed at 100% health all the time! Strange that online it is prone to blowing  Huh. Anyway with that in mind I didn't even try running it with manual clutch as I thought auto-clutch would be kinder to the old girl. Got a good start & grabbed the lead at Copse, ran a bit wide at Abbey & Navin went past. Thought I may have a job hanging on but was able to stay in touch without much trouble. At about 1/3rd distance I got a good run out of Stowe & took the lead & tried to get away but it seemed whoever was behind had the benefit of the tow & could keep up quite easily.

Noticed that the engine health was going down quite quick so like Navin I started changing up a bit early. At 2/3rd distance I ran wide at Woodcote & Navin got back ahead & a couple of laps later we caught Bill at just the wrong place & I lost a couple of seconds. Having lost the tow I thought the chance of the win had gone but I managed to close the gap & was right with Navin as we started the last lap. Tried hard to find a passing place but coming out of Club Navin's Jag went up in flames  Shocked. So cruised home for the win.  Grin

Congrats to Ade & Mark, bad luck to Navin & thanks for a great battle.  thumbup2

I was in a solid 4th place when the engine blew up on lap 15. I guess those Jag engines are as bad as advertised. Really narrows the car choice to just the cortina for almost everyone.

Not so. If you have XD installed you can monitor your engines health and keep the revs down accordingly.

I was going to take the Jag or Daimler myself but after testing the Cortina (and having not run with it this season) I decided to go with it.
Glad I did as I had a truly excellent race chasing Bill Thomas now, after he barged me off the track in one of the earlier corners. Then tried to catch the two Mini's of Alex and Sandor but they were too quick. Then found that I had Tibs approaching fast and diced with him for a few laps. I did pass Tibs (I think he made a mistake) and even caught and passed Sandor (I think) but then on the final straight I clipped one of those wicked kerbs, which gave my car a massive swerve and after trying to compensate I left the track and headed, at speed, into the infield collection of hangers etc. More dicing with Bill followed and tried to catch Sandor (or was it Alex?) again and although I got the gap down to single figures, the race finished and he was saved.
Fantastic to see such an authentic mixed grid. Hope to see you at Spa on Monday or if not at the next ECCC which looks like being a very interesting event to choose a car for.

Can't quite remember what happened in the race atm, so I'll comment on that later. I know I made a couple of big mistakes but I can't remember when.

You were managing to scare me for that section of the race though Tony. You were warping about a car length back regularly and I was trying my best not to punt you off because of it. That and since I've moved my FOV forward I've now got a nice 90o blind spot directly to either side. Shocked Time to muck about with my .plr file again...

Sorry to hear about the warping Tibs. Was it all the time or just sporadic? Anyone else see me warping?

Constant. It could have been me, but everyone else seemed fine apart from you, Tony, which is what made me think it was you rather than me. Nothing major just made it a bit more difficult to fight you.

Unofficial LapChart

Expected a quit night of racing in the Mini but got entertainment all the way!
At the beginning had some nice fights with the usual suspects and Tibernius.
Then teamie started to build a gap and got haressed by Tony. WT ventured past me eventually (yes, it was I, not Sandor), but then I was witness of the Mother of All Tankslappers when Tony careered across the straight at full speed.... just a couple of meters in front of me  Shocked
Then it was a steady race with gap and keeping me honest to the end.

Yes, especially at the beginning.
