Smiley Another great race for me, this can't last, Qualified P4 2.03 got a good start passing Legsy and closed right up on Geoffers.  Grin I could not quite understand why Geoffers was so slow on lp one and to be honest it threw me, do I  attempt a pass or not? Then on lap 2 he hit the grove and just buggered off into the distance,  Roll Eyes nice one mate and that was the last I saw of him and Goldtop. Congrats on your podiums guys.  Grin I then settled in to my some what slower grove and was soon hotly persued by my team mate Legsy  Smiley we were pretty much swapping places for the rest of the race (the best kind of GTL racing) Legsy was right behind me on the last lap and only a tenth begind on the line (top racing mate). Very pleased to get the last step on the podium, this championships hotting up nicely, great racing guys.  Smiley

Thanks Tony, good fun.  Decided on the 904GTS as you said it would be popular and like Matt wanted to drive it at lease once in the Series.

Practice went well, qualifying was disappointing but when I looked the car in front, Sandor, was about 2 sec quicker than my PB so it made no difference.  Tony gave me a touch of the OMGs at the start and he passed me when I went too deep into a corner and he sailed by.  After that I set a new PB chasing him and just about caught him up battling with Alex and slowing each other down.  Tony's pass was bit like a scene from "The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift".  Tony then sailed off into the distance leaving me to try and get by Alex.  I think someone gave him a copy of the DVD for Christmas, I don't ever recall Alex driving like that before.  I spent a couple of laps trying to get by at the penultimate corner/last corner.  I think he was trying to block the track he had such acute drift angles.  Lifted first time to avoid hitting him and went off, caught up again and tried to go past on the inside without success.  Kept on his tail around the lap and the went for it from the penultimate corner and touched and spun him on the final turn sending him into the kitty litter.  Waited for him and crept away and after what seemed an age accelerated  up to speed found out at the end of the lap that he was still going but I slowly pulled away from him.

After a few laps on my own, I amused myself by trying to set a new PB then cut the penultimate corner lifted to get back on line and hit the wall - got a warning.  After that I tried to avoid doing it again and had a few offs on the outside of track and eventually had a big one allowing Alex through again.  Still it was good fun.

Just a quick query on the results Tony, Sqter is shown in a TR4 & as a DNF. Didn't he drive an Escort?  & in my results he finished 6th.  Huh

These are the results from the reply section (DNF for Sqter in lap 1):

Unofficial LapChart

These results are from my local drive, including Sqter:

Even Less Unofficial LapChart

Bill, I hope that I didn't do anything naughty. Still haven't seen Vin Diesel exploring some parking lots in the far East; It was just silly me trying to get some speed out of the 275..
Tried to give you some room in the last corner but noticed too late because the 904 are such low cars; you simply disappeared from my rear view mirror  Undecided

After the spin I got stuck in the gravel. BIG apology to the Porsche driver I gave a scare by spinning in the middle of the track. Had some trouble getting unstuck from the Spanish beaches  Embarrassed

Nevertheless I enjoyed the race. Like to thank Bill and Eifelman for the competition, not always side-by-side but watching the gaps on the pitboard spurred me on!
Congrats to Geoffers for winning and my teamie for a solid race. I know your days are long and nights are short  Wink .

Thank you Tony for the car choice. Although not always evenly matched, I quite like wide selection including some new cars.

No Alex you were perfectly correct. you held your line and I had responsibility to make a clean pass.  I made three attempts on consecutive laps and failed.  On the final one I tried to run through the penultimate turn as fast as I could to get by in the final turn but misjudged the effect on my line and speed.  When you turned in my nose hit your Ferrari about the front edge of the door - clearly my fault, sorry.  I know I should have waited for you but I lost sight of you and didn't know what was happening so I waited a while and then started to creep away waiting for you to go by eventually I thought you might have quit so I continued.  Still you got the place in the end.

My reference to Tokyo Drift was merely my attempt at humour - to be honest I'm carp at drifting and wish I could do better.  Occasionally, on a day with the right car and track, I do a poor impression of drifting.

I think that's a compliment  Huh Wink

EDIT: Bill, just tried to find this action on the replay but couldn't. Any clues?

When you passed Alex into turn 1 and 2 - that's what it looked like from my car - perhaps I exaggerated a bit but you both looked like you were drifting in sync.  Roll Eyes

PS Having viewed the pass in overhead I was clearly wrong - it was a beautiful outbrake down the outside no drift what so ever.  hammer hammer hammer

Shouldn't that be the "Even More Unofficial Lapchart"? Wink

BIG apology to the Porsche driver I gave a scare by spinning in the middle of the track. Had some trouble getting unstuck from the Spanish beaches  Embarrassed
No Problem, had to do a bit of a nervous swerve to be sure to avoid, but just added to the thrill of the event laugh

and was soon hotly persued by my team mate Legsy  Smiley we were pretty much swapping places for the rest of the race (the best kind of GTL racing) Legsy was right behind me on the last lap and only a tenth begind on the line (top racing mate).
Yes, another very very enjoyable outing in GTL again (when we going to upgrade to weekly races? Tongue)
Had a superb race with my new team mate Mark C. I think we were pretty even round most of the course, but a couple of corners particularly I had a decent advantage (particularly the final couple of turns & the one leading onto the back straight where the 2nd time check point is) & there was that one left-hander just after the first time check point that he was stealing a ton of time on me every lap Angry Cheesy.
Anyway, it all led to some great driving, racing & overtaking. Mark just didn't read the team orders memo before the race obviously nono Wink

p.s. I've avoided the obvious car choice in the 1st two races & stuck with the Porka in all three events. I'm the only driver to have used the Porka in all three events & think that my loyalty to it should be rewarded with a final drive in it (for me only) at the next event. What say you Tony? whistling ninja shifty

Glad you posted that - the server was utterly convinced that he was in the TR4 - no wonder it failed to record any of his laps (and wrote something like 20 megabytes of junk in the results export!).

Hopefully the results are now correct.

Didn't expect that the A110 was so much uncompetitive, but race was fun but a little
bit confusing due to Sqters positions displayed on my table.
Behind me on the grid (no quali time), in a displayed first place during the first lap but behind me
in reality (sorry for holding you up due to my first turner of the race. Didn't expect you there due
to the displayed first position) then one lap behind me and so on. But luckily all has been solved now.

Had a quiet race in last position always trying to pay attention to the faster guys lapping me.
Was able to improve my personal best about 1.5 seconds, realized during the last few laps
that Bill was getting slower and tried to catch him right
before the finish line but during the last lap I had another turner.
So last - but finished.

It's the taking part that counts!

See you next time.
