Round 4 of the Group C Fun Trophy

To end the fun series we're off to modern day Monza.
Lap wise I'd expect the short tail 962's to be very strong here, but the tight chicanes will also play into the hands of the light-weight spin-dryer brigade too.
Or will the better-than-average fuelling of the C9 hand victory to Sauber?
There's only one way to find out Grin

Rules are very simple - you must use each car only once. Up to you where you run it, but you can only do so once!
As per the last time it would be very helpful if people let me know a day or 2 before the event what they intend to run so I can ensure the server has enough of the relevant cars.

We will have a x2 fuel and tire multiplier for this series, so we can at least pretend we're having proper endurance events.

Only managed a handful of laps last night as my new GT4 series starts tonight and needed some last minute practise for that too!

Sauber sounds a lovely beast and handles like one at Monza,  Shocked really wish i could devote an hour or so setting up this combo, as it deserves it.  Cool Will try and squeeze some more laps in tomorrow at some point. Was surprised to be on a similar pace to a few (for now) despite lack of laps.

ps there is no comparison in visceral feel and aura comparing some laps in ye olde AC running a grp C car v a modern GT4 in iR, it was very hard to motivate any interest in the GT4 after just a few laps in the Sauber  wub but ive got an hour long race to get through tonight first.

pps, glad your shifter got fixed thumbup2

mother trucker

that was going well,  until it didn't change my tyres at the pitstop (I know, my mistake not selecting them in the setup, but so mad because I had fuel and pressures set up), and then didn't even get the chance to select it when I tried again a lap later  cursing censored

race ruined, and I think a podium of some flavour was on, which would have been a great result in this car...

edit:  also, much apologies for lap1 T1, but once you take the sausage bad things happen,  so I hope everyone escaped unscathed  Shocked

I think there is something bugged about the pitstop strategy. I set the second stop for 23 liters, and yet when I stopped for the second time, I still got fuel tank of fuel. Not that would change where I finished, but just saying.

Did you select the 2nd tab on the stop menu? It doesn't cycle automatically like in ACC.
Also it will add the fuel quantity shown as opposed to filling that amount which can make mid-race fills interesting when you add too-much/too-little Smiley

I had fun in that - I started off running low boost with a fair bit of lifting. @60% boost I knew I'd have enough to be safe (Was very close on fuel using stock boost).
Once Fabri and then Lorenzo passed me I made good use of their cars and drafted them while also coasting back up behind them again in the braking zones Grin
It was only once I re-passed Lorenzo after his error that I returned to 70% boost and left it there for the rest of the race.

This was enough to let me run a lap longer than all the other C9's in the first stint and gave me somewhere between 23 and 15Ltrs of 'spare' fuel to play with through the 2nd stint.
After my tires had warmed up I ran a couple of test laps @ 80% to see what the consumption and engine wear would be like and then waited for the end of the race so I could go full-retard just before my rear tires ran out of grip, and while my car was nearly empty.
I was on for knocking an additional .5 out of the race lap record on the final lap and then locked a brake to finish about a tenth down instead -great fun either way as the fuel burn forced me to drive drive the thing as they would have been in the real events (Remember Group C was essentially a fuel saving formula - only 600l/1000KMs were allowed).

Next week if we have enough people to have bought the RSS historic endurance pack I'd like to run that - It's currently our best chance of attracting some new talent as it's a brand new car...

I set stop 1 and stop 2 on strategy screen. Stop 1 was for 99 liters and change of tires, stop 2 was for 23 liters of fuel and tire change.
When I stopped both times, I didn't do anything on pit window that shows once you're in the pits. Was I supposed to do something on it, even though I selected before the race what should be done for first and second stops?
