I thought I was fast, until I saw Clive, Tris, Axel and Pete's lap times in race conditions.  Grin It looks like I was the only one doing qualifying with low fuel on board.

I was very happy with my Q though, as I was able to improve by about half a second per lap. Everything was doe to Clive was too fast and I wanted to challenge him for pole-position. Until I did a perfect lap and was about 1 second behind him.  Grin At that moment I knew I had no chance. However, we had a decent fights with Bot and Axel for P2 and P3. We chancged P2 with Bot few times and at the end Axel was able to take away P3 from me as well.

At that moment I was feeling a little bit tired and decided to save some energy for the race.

At the start I dropped the revs too much and was challenged I believe by Pete for P4, however, I was able to just stay there, which was vital for my chances for a podium finish.

Soon I realized that I am maybe the 5th or 6th fastest car and some of the guys are faster than me by at least half a second per lap. However, they tempted to make mistakes, so I was just concentrated on my driving and my plan to finish without making any mistakes.

And I was successful on doing this. Unfortunately all Cookie, Pete, Phil and Bot were making mistakes and I was able to steal P3 at the end. It wasn't easy though, as Cookie was chasing me from P4 and was about half a second faster per lap in the last 15 minutes.

At the end Clive and Bot were too fast for me, however, I am very, very happy with my first official podium here, the good points I took and the tokens I was able to save.

Grats to Clive for out of this world pace. Same goes to our P2, Tris Bot.  sorcerer

WOOHOO!  My Blue Moose teammie was not to be denied!  Great job by Evil Clive to roar home to a fine victory.  Seems the Lola/BMW was the car to have.  Smiley

I spent more than my usual time in qualifying to dial in the BT14 to have a better run up the hill at Valley.  Stretching 4th gear over several test laps seemed to help keep the Lotus/Ford Twin Cam in the power band and lead to my best lap time.  I could even hold it right to Anson but the revs were getting a bit too high for comfort.

I poorly judged the incident up ahead in Cuckoo on Lap01 drilling poor Bob in the tail which sent us both to the back.  Lucky to have us both survive that.  At the end of Lap02, I tangled with Colin's Dino in Hood as he was having a gruesome day.  Didn't cost me too much time but he got inverted.  Ouch!  Got running well making to hook up with Bob and feared that I took his bit of road going up the hill at Valley but it seems that he just ran a bit wide on his own to cuff that wickedly placed haybale and prune off a corner.  Bad luck there, Bob.  Based on lap times, I expected to see the leaders come up on me around Lap15.  Pretty much on cue, I noted a Lola/BMW in my mirrors and Clive swept by to put me a lap down.  Chasing him down through Engineers Corner, I clipped the curb on the left and picked up a little suspension damage according to GPLRA.  I didn't feel any detriment to my performance but it did annoy me no end to have bungled that.  Soon, I had others come flashing by but I did manage to get to the finish without going another lap down.  Job done.

Blandford a fine track and nice to see builder Pete get a worthy P5 finish.

Off to Rouen next.  Should be fun!  Smiley

I forgot about T1 incident, sorry Doni.

Engineers was massively difficult for me due to frame drop (60 > 25ish) approaching and through it, did anyone else have that?

With my (WEAK!) machine I was getting a definite blip on turn-in when alone on the Ams server.  I find that corner hard enough to see, so did not help.
I already had an appropriate nVidia profile configred - which was confirmed by my GPU clocks ramping up as expected with GPL running.
I dropped my GPL detail level down a bit (just checked on GEM+  is at 76%) and seemed better afterwards/was fine at racetime.

I can't remember the exact details, but depending on which installer version you used - it may be worth re-installing if using earlier than 1.08 / 1.09 (I think there were some later draw-distance adjustments which were more related to potential CTD,  which mainly seemed to be affecting me at the time - although at a different part of the track).

No, sorry. Solid 60fps on my ancient Linux machine.

Can my points be assigned to Arf in the standing rather than "Colin"?

I've tried but I think I need Phil to help out.  Wink

Hi,

I couldn't join this race as my F2 mod is broken. I'm on W10. I can get into the game but when I hit the green button to enter the pits I get a CTD, just as you'd expect when DEP permissions not set. I've made sure that the F2 exe is on this list but still no joy. Does anyone have any ideas what might be going wrong?

Check your sound files, Will.  This is a classic indication of something not quite right with your engine wav files.  Hope this helps.

Just in case,  have you tried deleting your gplcf2.exe from your GPL folder  & have GEM+ build it again?

Yes Dave, I've tried that aswell.

Just tried running the F2 mod on a clean GPL install and still no joy.
Starting to think it's not anything to do with GPL and more something to do with Windows... Angry

At the end of last year, I had CTD with mod55 when trying to join the track. I'm on W10, too
With the help of Phil Thornton, we could solve my issue.
I can't remember exactly what I did, it was related to DEP and/or to Nvidia GPLinspector.

Maybe (surely) Phil could help ?  I know he wrote something related to this issue, somewhere in UKGPL site ...

Seems to be a recurring thread.
I had similar trouble last year, and Phil, and Axel, I think, made suggestions that sorted it.. If i can remember I will shout up.
I had possibly similar issues this last weekend. I run from two locations, I was in SOuthport and I have a G29
which actually suits 55 mod, as the brake pedal is really hard, and I can press it gently without getting a red light
then press hard just before the corner. But I had CTD after half a lap or so when I was testing the Maserati
so I went to Gordini and Connaught and they ran fine for lap after lap. I went back to the Maser, and yep it CTD after less than a lap
I then drove to my place near Rochdale where I have a Thrustmaster T...something which I have never liked much
as it feels not so precise (which is silly as it's a belt rather than cogs) but I couldn't drive the Gordini the same way
I was all over the road, and the braking was much more difficult. So I foolishly swapped cars to the Connaught
but that was no better. I should have just left and not done the event, I need practice with this rig particularly
with this 55 MOD which I find more awkward than the others. Thanks for point about DEP, I wasn't aware of that  thumbup1

The race where we discussed this problem was Brno. Reading back through the posts it looks like David solved the problem by adding all the executables in the GPL folder (including gpl.exe) to the DEP list (as posted here). It looks like he also used the profiler to import the nvidia graphics profile (as described here, there is a link on the New Drivers topic).

I think it is also a good idea to delete all the mod executables (i.e. gplc55.exe, gplsf2.exe etc but NOT the original gpl.exe) to force GEM to rebuild everything.

But reading the posts above, it looks like Will has already tried all the DEP options and even reinstalled the F2 mod on a clean installation of GPL.

I suspect this is something to do with the graphics options. That is the only thing that would not have been affected by a new installation. I suggest unticking all the options in GEM and going back to a very simple 36fps low resolution setting to try to get the mod to run. You can then start to increase the FPS to 60Hz and gradually increase the graphics settings.
