Season 44 F1 1967 PRIVATEERS – Round 7 – Mont-Tremblant
The seventh race in the 1967 Privateers Grand Prix series finds us at Mont-Tremblant. It is a 4.218 km (2.621 mi) race circuit located approximately 130 km (81 mi) north of Montreal, Quebec, in the city of Mont-Tremblant, Canada. It is the second-oldest existing race track in Canada, and was originally known as Circuit Mont-Tremblant-St-Jovite until it was renamed in the 1970s. Set in the shadow of the Mont-Tremblant ski hill, the twisting fifteen-corner track uses the natural topography and elevation of the land.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 19 REGISTERED DRIVERS IN THIS SERIES, SO :
The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please READ CAREFULLY THE RULES :
A driver must cross the start line in order to register the use of a chassis, participation in qualifying is not sufficient.

The tokens system will be used with drivers being awarded tokens for starting the season and for starting each race. Each car will cost a number of tokens per race.

Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Drivers must complete 50% race distance to score.

Conngrats Ricardo, a fine drive!

Tried to keep close enough in case there was a major mistake,   but didn't happen!

Unlucky Pepe,  presumably on the frid you had latency issues & quit the race?
I saw you come & go a couple of times whilst awaiting the start.
I kept to the left in case you came back in again, but soon guessed you had exit.

I did very little pre-event running & had to use the Q session for quick race-fuel calculations.

Also changed to another setup (not mine) ifor Q with full fuel in case that helped me not go off at T1 into the barrier (figured that maybe T1 here may be slightly similar to Zeltweg T1...).   That bit seemed to work out surprisingly well, despite a little twitchiness compared to my goto Mosport setup (again, not mine).

Hopefully server connection was fine for the other drivers.
I was looking at the rear of Ricardo's car most of the race & that seemed stable.

Cheers,
Dave.

A season to forget. If not eliminated by someone, there are the engine failure or the strange upload of the default setup at start.

Unfortunately, yes. When I was dropped onto the grid for the start of the race, I saw immediately that the cars of Ricardo and Mikos in front of me were blinking in and out. The Q bar in the latency meter was high. I had to make a quick decision: Stay and probably be a danger to everyone behind me, or <ESC><CR> before the green flag and hope that I'd be given ten credits for an appearance. I decided to exit and was rewarded for my sacrifice. Too bad. It took me two weeks, but I had that little Cooper pretty well dialed in. It isn't often you see Coops sitting 1-2-3 on the starting grid.  Smiley

I did a quick search on racing history to see what my PB is at this track. Into the 1,41's a few years ago. Best I could do this time around was 1.42 in qualification & 1.43 in the race.

Commiserations to Pepe - it's very frustrating when your race is finished before crossing the start line. With retirements & a better start than Eric I was into to podium places early on. I managed to annoy Eric by staying ahead for half the race until he capitalised on a tiny error & nipped ahead.

Congrats to David & Riccardo - looked like you had a huge battle from start to finish for the top spots.

Whilst researching previous races I did find one of the more amusing excuses for failing to start a race, courtesy of Phil Thornton in 2016 -

My wife has just found the vase that I had accidentally chipped. She wasn't happy, I had to quit to try and make peace.  Sorted now, the vase is still chipped but my PC is intact!

When I started gpl oline for the first time it was in 2012 and out of curiosity the track was St Jovite, I finished the race last with 4 laps behind, and I wondered how fast the drivers were, as I always heard from the more experienced ones that they only learn by practicing. I was surprised by my pole, because there were several fast riders there, in which case Pepe was blinking too much but he still had a great time and rhythm and soon after Miguel and David and so on, with little difference in times, I already imagined a race difficult, and it certainly was. It was a shame that Pepe disconnected, then Miguel made a mistake, then the adrenaline started with David, an entire race running at the limit without being able to make mistakes, I had to manage the cooper's engine because in practice the engine had blown out so I couldn't push too hard and David With your Brabham stuck to my rearview mirrors, I couldn't open it for anything, it was very tense for me, when I saw the checkered flag I couldn't believe it, our dispute from start to finish was incredible, I just have to thank you for participating in a great league and with fantastic people, man. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this.
