Season 44 F1 1967 WORKS – Round 7 –  MONT TREMBLANT (St JOVITE)

The seventh race in the 1967 Works Grand Prix series finds us at Mont-Tremblant. It is a 4.218 km (2.621 mi) race circuit located approximately 130 km (81 mi) north of Montreal, Quebec, in the city of Mont-Tremblant, Canada. It is the second-oldest existing race track in Canada, and was originally known as Circuit Mont-Tremblant-St-Jovite until it was renamed in the 1970s. Set in the shadow of the Mont-Tremblant ski hill, the twisting fifteen-corner track uses the natural topography and elevation of the land.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 19 REGISTERED DRIVERS IN THIS SERIES, SO :
The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

More than a little miffed!!
Looked after the Lotus and slowly climbed up to 2nd spot after others made small errors. Pat was well ahead and sure to take 1st and I had a small lead over Jonny who was pushing hard.
With 3 laps to go I was feeling comfortable until a momentary screen freeze sent me off track and ripped a wheel off  taz taz taz taz taz

Grats to the podium and all finishers,

I was on the right side of the grid which proved to be the safest place because I could stay tight and avoid the squeeze on the left side of the grid at turn 2. I found myself in third place but I couldn't stay with Pat and JonnyO, they gradually pulled away and so I concentrated on trying to stay ahead of Clive and Tris. I held them off for 5 or 6 laps but then I had a slow 360 at Namerow and they were through.

After that I tried to circulate without errors but about half way I made a mistake at Le Diable. I lost time and that allowed Syd to get onto my gearbox. The rest of the race was a game of cat and mouse with Syd hassling me all the way. I had to be on the top of my game to not make mistakes. I held on and crossed the line a few metres ahead of Syd. Great racing Syd.

It looks like Evil and Tris ran into some bad luck and what was a hard fought 5th turned into a lucky podium for me in the last couple of laps.

I'm not sure what happened ahead of me on lap 1. I was passing under the bridge going into a blind left hand turn when suddenly there was a car in the middle of the road. No chance to avoid it, and after I hit that car someone hit me, and as far as I could see lot's cars after that piled up behind. Somehow, I don't think I suffered serious damage, outside of time I lost. For a few laps I could see Tristan a few seconds down the road, and there was a cooper behind me. But eventually Tristan pulled away, and cars behind dropped further back , and I was on my own. Than I saw yellow flags, and Phil was 2-3 seconds ahead. From that point on I was always closel, a few times even very close to Phil's car. I had one chance for overtaking at right hand loop, when I was on the inside but Phil held it well on the outside. Rest of the way Phil kept it tight and didn't give me another chance to attack.
Grats to podium.

I just wanted to post these 2 screenshots from Evil's online stream on Twitch, where apparently he wasn't reading his own chat, so myself and Dimi took advantage to fool around for a bit Grin (use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the second image if the chat isn't showing fully, or open images in new tab)

LOL Hristo.

I was too busy wrestling that Lotus to read any chat messages and anyway I do not have chat visible whilst I am racing because my brain cannot multitask...my wife has told me that many times!!!

Happy with the win, but a little surprised. I was 8/10ths off my PB Brabham in qualifying, so it was an unexpected pole.

Sorry about Dulima after the start, probably the GPL crashbox, as I don't think we were both touching.

Well done to Jonny and Phil for the podium, sorry about the DNFs.

Bravo Pat !!!

This track is always challenging and I never really feel comfortable on it, so this 2nd is the result of a lot of luck, really. Firstly due to the many abandonments during the race, Dulima, Tristan, and especially Evil who mysteriously disappeared, perhaps abducted by a UFO. Congratulations to Pat, at the beginning I tried to keep up but he opened 50 meters per lap and trying to keep up almost took me out of the race, in fact I made a mistake 3 times during the race, this second place served to add a little excitement to the championship!!!!

Circuit Mont-Tremblant.  Never a venue I've cared for and after 28 arduous laps here, I hope I don't see it again anytime soon.  All too rather gimmicky with the multiple instances of 'up the hill to find a blind corner at the crest'.  Way, way over done here.

Nice job by Patrick to score a fine victory.  Jonny a great run to P2.  Phil ditto for P3.

After the Lap01 nonsense, I was second from last with only Axel behind me and soon, he disappeared.  Clay very kindly gave me a wave-by on Lap06; thanks, amigo.  This let me attack Andreas and the prospect of another fine battle with AG was on the cards.  Lap08 and I bungled the braking coming off the back straight and had to take the infield grass to miss Andreas.  I made the pass but it was stoney lucky and not in the least kosher.  I immediately gave back the place.  Lap10 and Andreas had difficulties approaching the first set of twisties and I made good a proper pass.  From then on in, it was just mind my P's & Q's and not make a hash of things.  Gutted to see Evil Clive fall victim to a glitch at the cost of a podium.  Grim.  Last lap and I came across a Cooper down in the far loop going very slowly.  This was Bot who short-filled and now paid the price.  These last two DNF's elevated me to a handy P6 so not altogether a bad showing.

Very satisfied with my race with the Honda here. It seemed, even before the start, that we were going to repeat the Zeltweg battle with Andreas, in which he took advantage of a mistake of mine in the Rindt curve and passed me after a hard fight that lasted the whole race. After the various spins and off-tracks of the first lap, I found myself with Andreas in front and Doni behind. It made no sense my dear friend to complicate your life when there were more than 20 laps to go, so I moved aside (if there had been only 2 or 3 laps to go things would have been different  Grin), and I set out to watch the fight between Doni and Andreas, hoping to make some profit. But I made a mistake at La Diable, and lost ground. As the car seemed to me to be in one piece (later the ReplayAnalizer told me the opposite), I drove all the laps flat out, until I finally got to Andreas (Doni had disappeared in the distance), and he returned my courtesy of Zeltweg losing the car in turn 10, and I was able to keep the place. Thanks Andreas for the fight, it's a pleasure to race with you. Congratulations to the podium (for me on another planet) and thanks for organizing this championship.

Everything ok Cornu, to be honest I was pretty frustrated at the time

In my replay you touched me, but in the server replay, you can clearly see that it was a game error

GPL stuff

It was definitely going to be a good race, I had the Lotus in my hand

Just turn the key and move on to the next one

Looking at the replay, we were at a very reasonable distance, you weren't to blame for anything
