First things first...  Allow me to apologize to Axel specifically and to the general membership at large for my raging outburst in qualifying.  Understand this: Nothing...and I mean NOTHING...infuriates me more than to be working my ass off to get a good grid spot only to be hounded by a hot-shot competitor who has just blasted out of the pits and sees fit to park on my tail.  Grrr...

Second, apologies to Fulvio for getting you tangled up in my mistake on Lap05.  I clipped the horizontal tyre in the last corner and spun and you were so close as to have no option but drill me.  I got away scot-free damage-wise but you suffered damage.  Sorry, again.

Other than the above, it was a swell outing.  Early laps, I had to fend off Fulvio's 289-inch M1B with my similar mount.  Seems were we on par for performance.  Late in the race, I hooked up with Alain for a classic punch-up.  Ultimately, the extra ponies under the bonnet of the Works McLaren told the tale and he vanished up the road.

Not altogether displeased with a P7 placing.  The Lap01 shunt in Esso had much to do with that.  Pleased to have cut a  new personal best for the car.

Fine job by Greg for the win.  Axell a good P2.  Phil cops P3 from Evil Clive late in the going.  Clive going great guns in the 289-inch M1B.

LOL Doni,
you misinterpreted my following you completely,
I saw you were in a fast lap and did not want to bother you, so I stayed behind with cold tires...
but after a lap I thought maybe on the long straight a tow would be helpfull and I wanted to pass you to give one, BUT... oops

For the quali I had a little more agressive setting of the brake (49) so I reduced it for the race to 50 BB, wich gave a little saver front braking.
Car was super handsome but the half second to Greg was lost, Clive was following a while but then it was pretty lonely until the laping.

IMO a great opening of a real fun season. Thanks!

Hello everyone.

I renew my apologies to everyone for my departure.  Undecided

No training and no setup, I choose the fastest car and install a LOTUS 67 setup to test.
I'm lucky because I like the way the car behaves, especially when braking where I find it stable.
I increase the shock absorber values and modify the gearbox and GO GO GO.

Everything is going well and I have a good feeling except that after 2 laps my steering wheel is slipping.
I shift the gears with the paddles and I end up with my left hand down and my right up which is frankly not fun.
Sorry Doni at the end of the race for annoying you but it was difficult for me to adapt.
I have a G27, has anyone had this problem PLEASE.

Congratulations to the winner and podium, thank you to the ADMINS and see you soon.

Alain look here for the G27 fix : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anlvlD9rqcc

It is mostly the loose screw so the comments help:
Quote
Everyone kept saying that my issue was the cracked encoder, And I took it apart and it wasn't cracked. But thanks to you mentioning those loose screws under it, you saved my wheel. Those screws were loose. I tightened them and now the wheel is perfect again.

I've had similar with a G25.  Maybe give it another test & intentionally run off track to trigger some intense feedback to see if it's still ocurring.
If so, then search for "G27 cracked encoder wheel".

I think the G25 encoder is different/has more holes in it,  so if you need a replacement get the correct one (although I did read that similar from an appropriate optical mouse could possibly work).  Metal replacements may also still be available.

In my case, a quick workaround attempt failed, but I already had a spare wheel so didn't bother taking it apart again - which was a bit of a pain the first time.

Good luck!

Another great video DD.

Grats to Greg and Axel who simply drove away from the rest of us. I had chosen the Mclaren Elva with the smallest engine and wondered if it was a mistake at the beginning of quali as the times were so fast. I was running race fuel, but still a few seconds slower than I hoped to be.

Back to the pits and a few tweaks on the setup. A rolling start was actually a huge benefit with a 4 speed gearbox, because I could set 1st gear very high and then use 4 gears out on track, some mods to bump rubbers and brake balance also helped and I squeaked into 3rd on the grid.
I was fortunate on lap 1 to miss the carnage at the chicane, but still had a very eager Phil on my tail with his extra horsepower. On cold tyres my car was certainly a handful and I was trying to be careful, but still keep Phil behind....something that he did not appear to agree with lol. I was surprised that my less powerful car was slightly quicker out of the corners, but he quickly closed up on the longer straights.
Then he had a moment. Phil's car was closing so fast that I actually thought he was going to make a pass on the inside, so I stayed a little wide. That almost ended in disaster as Phil simply missed his braking point and flashed across behind me as I turned in  scared

With a comfortable gap behind I was running in 3rd with Axel up ahead and occasional glimpses of Greg. I could almost match Axel for pace but it was risky at that level of commitment, but Greg was pulling away steadily and unless he screwed up he had the race won. So I eased back and focused on steady laps whilst I watched the gap back to a recovering Phil. 3rd spot in the "slowest" car in the deck was better than I had hoped for.  Wink

Everything was running perfect until the last 3 laps, when I decided to engage cruise mode as I had a big gap back to Phil. Bad mistake!! The rhythm that I had in race mode had me drifting through corners using the gas to balance the slide, after half a lap of cruise mode where I simply tried to steer the car through the apexes it all went horribly wrong!!

A snap oversteer sent the car over some tyres and sent the car off track, rats!!!  but Ok as I still had a good lead. But the contact with the tyre must have damaged the suspension/steering because the car I now had was a nightmare to control in the right hand corners and the damage was putting extra temp into my left rear tyre ( that did not help at all) . Phil could smell the chance of 3rd spot and was clearly in chase mode. I should have simply nursed the car home but I tried to maintain a big gap....bad move again and another spin put Phil right on my gearbox!!  The at the start of the final lap the car refused to turn in to T1 and ran wide..Phil did not need to be asked twice and swept through. Ok, well 4th ain't so bad...until I had another spin on that last lap and Tris started to get too close.
It was fortunate that the last 2 corners are left handers as I could carry some speed through to the flag.

Grats to Greg, Axel and Phil on the podium and to all finishers.

I wasn't sure which car to take for this race. In fact even with consulting the spreadsheet with all the car data, I'm not sure which is the best car. However, given that I like this track and it has a couple of decent straights, I thought I'd pick a car with a bit of grunt Huh?.

But the power is no good if you can't lay it down on the track. When I was chasing Clive, it was a bit too easy to get carried away and smoke the tyres. I totally agree with you Clive about backing off to be safe, it doesn't work. When I made my first mistake I decided to take it easy and consolidate 4th but that just made me make more mistakes. So I decided to push on to try to catch up. But if you hadn't made a mistake, I'd never have caught you.

These cars are great fun to drive but I haven't a clue on what to pick for the next round. I'd better do some testing. I've not driven most of them but this format where we have to drive every car will remedy that Huh?

Looking at the drivers list, I saw I am the only one to choose the Lola T70 Ford 305 ...and the only one to have Dunlop tyres !
It should explain my poor result  Grin Grin

More seriously, I tested all the cars here and I was quicker only with the McLaren M1B but I find it too hard to drive ...

With some experience with these cars and the then new tyre model, we see the tyre temps are changing rapidly.

So if you decide to go over in cruising mode your temperatures will fall massively
- just watch DD in his last laps when he pushed to maybe gain a place, his temps raised to nearly good...

This is why I made my front BB higher for the race, to have better temps not pushing hard.

PS

Maybe we find someone who is able and willing to make better virtual mirrors, all cars have one in the car folder but imo the are nearly unuseable,
maybe they can be resized and moved to a better space...

Nice video and comments DD  Wink
You can find virtual mirror for these cars, if you want. I don't recall the site to download, but I can send you the file, it's only 1,6 Mb.

Thanks Fulvio, I will definitely be happy if you can send me the file. Smiley

Also thank you guys for the great comments about my video. I create them with passion and I love driving and commentating. Smiley

One more thing. Is there a way I can be promoted from reserve driver. When I registered for all the championships this season, I was not really aware that the poll decides this. I will definitely be trying to make at least 8 rounds in every championship, so I will be happy if I can be promoted as I don't wanna miss any race with these great mods.

Thanks Axel.

So I was rearended by Matt (phspok) on the first lap.
As Matt retired on lap2, I will not report any incident. It would be useless.

By the way, Matt, I saw you were stuck in a bush on lap 2 and it seems you forgot to reset (one reset is OK in this serie, only one)...
