In the words of Montserrat Caballé, "BARCELONA!!!". The teams' transporters head to northern Spain and Montjuic mountain, overlooking the Catalan capital. This track proved popular but extremely challenging during the pre-season test race. Montjuic can be downloaded here http://montjuich.speedgeezers.net/download.html. PLEASE NOTE there are four different versions, unless you have a powerful PC I strongly suggest you install the LITE version. Race list | iGOR | Server | UKGPL_T7_2 | IP address | 62.149.202.168 | Date | 01-07-2012 | Race time | Race starts at 21:30 UK time | Qualifying time | Between 30 and 60 minutes, starting no later than 21:00 UK time | Track | Montjuich Park | Mod | 67 | Damage model | INT | Race length | 31 laps | Replay | Available here |
Reserve drivers please note; you must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes, to allow full timers to join. The red zone will be fully moderated for lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start line to the exit of turn 6. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only. The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Just a quick reminder; this race will start at the usual time and therefore WILL CLASH with the final of the European Championship.

I could understand that !!! If the start of the race would be delayed of 30 minutes, it could be nice

I vote for delayed start too , likewise I'm not a footy fanatic but it seems fair on our overseas guests who want to watch the big fight

Sad for PWB - and as Paul Whitfield 'Badblood' (PWB maybe?) and a fellow Waza, I feel a connection, but look on the bright side Paul. You got me some points I joined after Italy went down to ten men and shouldn't have, I was like Bambi on ice. The boys kept me interested until I started to feel a bit more confident and dumped it into the armco - didn't bother with the S/R. Dreadful. Sorry to whoever I totalled at T1 in qually - I hit the clutch instead of the brake.

10 mins or so to go in qually and I set a PB in that suprisingly turned out to be fast enough for pole Felt drained after that so sat waiting for the fast boys to topple me but I think the spanish squad were rooting for me Those who know me might remember my history of starting from pole slot , one example ( Spa ) causing a mighty pile up on the start line , some ( few) were succesful , most have been disasters , this one would be one of the latter kind got a great start but too late on the brakes into the hairpin had me knowing just how Jack Brabham felt on his penultimate lap at monaco in 1970 , by the time i recovered I was practically last , the rest of the race was spent cussing to self and recovering ( mostly cussing to self ) . After a few more offs and spins I managed to settle down and later pass Phil for 4th place ( which must have annoyed him as he seemed desperate to get the place back ) fortunately I was able to pull out a gap and get a much needed breather . did me best after that but the next car in front (Hendy) was 21 seconds or so up the road according to prib and I was fading fast so 4th it was , a better result than I had expected t get here so can't complain . Grats to Martin , Dave and Hendy and all who finished , commiserations to those who didnt and those absent friends who were no doubt drowning there sorrows elswhere

Grats Martin! WD and luck, no disco!
Grats David and Hendy!
As a rookie in the 67s I found a pretty good setup for the Braby, but I knew I was not able to keep the pace a long time. This track has no straights where you can take a breath, so it was a question of time when the first mistake will come... And it came, unlucky inside the first corner with my nose to the armco. So my quick decision was to not cause more trouble to others, an ESC...

I loved my 1st experience at Montjuich in 2009. At that time, I was still braking with the right foot and I am actually very surprised that my times have not improved as much as my control since then (no comment please) . My opinion about the circuit has not changed a bit.
I watched the replay because I wanted to know what happened when I was hit before T1 a few laps before the end of the race. I was waiting for Darwin to lap me before the hairpin, I slowed down too much. The replay tells me there was no consequences for either of us and considering the reputation of the Lotus, I had the most solid F1 ever released by the Lotus Works.
Watching the replay has told me something: T1 and T2 (T3 if we count the right hander in between) are definitely hairpins even if we have the feeling of a 90deg when we are still in the braking zone. To my knowledge, there is only one hairpin in GPL that looks like one when you're at the wheel : Mexico. Looking at the map and watching a replay with cameras 1 and 2 are the best ways to learn about angles and slopes which are kind of erased or diminished by the cockpit view . The slope after Breitscheid at the Nurburgring is a typical example.
Seeing crashes in the replay has convinced me the T1 hairpin didn't get all the respect it deserves !
Anyway I hope you had as much fun as I had with what I consider the best city circuit ever used in F1.
I hope there will be a spot on the grid for me at Zolder.
