As the Novices are staying at home in these straitened economic times we are not running two servers at the same track so it would be REALLY tough to join the wrong server on this one! Ha! See what you get when you edit the GT Race posts

Is there a short version of the Porto 58 track or do I have the wrong track or maybe the race should be like 21 laps? After all the UKGPL record is 2:20.096 and 34 laps would be like 80 min.

Actually, now you mention it, that's a good point. Based on the GP default of 50 a normal 'long' race would be 15 laps. 34 is approx 70% of the full GP distance and, at my current pace, it would take me more like 90 minutes

Really - maybe it was my maths then, I worked it all out as soon as I finished (crashed out of) the historics race I'll trust Goran as I don't have time to work it out again, if it's wrong blaim him

Firstly, good job Tim FMG on firefighting - seems the racelist was 'is it or isn't it'. Well that was a disaster - at the back and decided to keep well to the right to keep out of any trouble and haybailed it. Race over after a few yards. Zero points, definately nowhere near 50%. My goal this season will be to score something, anything so I can join the current magic circle of eight scorers.
PS: well done Raoni on a scorching qually, sorry to see you took an early bath as well.

Well, first race report starts here, and only 2 laps gone. Had the pace to win this one i think, which is rare for a Pro race. The first 2 laps i found i was able to brake earlier late than those around me and had the speed as i qualified 2nd, but was unable to safely get past Ronnie in 2nd place who defended well. I had Evil closing and knew i had to make a move sooner rather than later and chase the leader down, but unfortunately the engine blew up. Can't complain as its one of those things, but shame not to continue a run of podiums. Think thats my 2 weeks at the top of the table gone, but the view was nice up there whilst it lasted. Cheers

ah!! I wondered why you suddenly slowed I almost ran into you , but just jinked it around you expecting to lose a wheel or get clipped into the wall. Eventually got past Ronnie and set off after Natan and managed to close him down far sooner than I expected. Once I had caught him I discovered why. He was quick on the straights in the BRM but was almost 2 secs slower through the twisty bits. The trouble was trying to find a passing place soon enough in the twisty bits, to prevent him regaining the place on that dammed long straight!! The Cooper and BT7 brigade were certainly handicapped here lol, and I followed him for quite a few laps looking for an opening. I made a small mistake and clipped a wall, thus losing some 200mtrs and was closing up again easily when I allowed my concentration to wander did a pinball impression. That contact caused some damage to my suspension that bit me back at T1 when I discovered a distinct lack of left turn stuff . A velcro straw bale made sure that I progressed no further

2 laps after Clive impaled himself I also found the same wall Maybe it was a Waza magnet and hadn't been calibrated enough to ignore me? Was going well upto that point, despite a pinball impression on about lap 8 I was steadily (If slowly) closing on the leaders and everyone in-between. Clive being the odd one out here as he was managing a very similar pace until he caught Natan. After numerous spins, crashes and retirements from the field I found myself in 2nd and still slowly gaining on Natan - than I found Clives haybale when I missed the apex in T1 (Unusual for me as I normally found the apex the hard way and went over the kurbs! ) Shame as I was starting to remember the track and enjoy it again

One of my shortest races ever The Honda was really great on this track, flowing so good at the high speed turns. Then I managed to get a sub-2:20, which put me on pole-position. After the start, I went down to 3rd, close to Clutch and Ronnie. At the second straight I caught Ronnie's draft, but he did me the outside lane. When I started braking, I caught some of those tram tracks, lost some braking power and went direct to the haybale, staying there. A dumb mistake of mine (well, my Pro Trophy is being full of dumb mistakes... ) Anyway, let's try to improve next time, where I really hope to complete at least half of the race

Not run here in 65's before and struggled a lot on pace , big problems with braking points which I found impossible to judge , so took the safe option and braked early , sheer perceverance rewarded me with a podium finish but not happy with the way it was earned . Sorry to Nathan ? near the end as he entered the long straight after the S/F he came across my Lotus extracting itself from the haybales and completly blocking the track , was glad to see you scrape through (please can I have my painty back ) and dodge the lamp posts , hope the incedent didn't contribute to your departure a lap or so later , sorry to see a sure fire win went all pear shaped Grats to the Podium boys and all who finished ( ooops! thats just us then )

You shouldn't say that Bernie, I wish I had a little more of your endurance. I didn't get enough practice in here but I love the track layout, shame that the scenery is so unforgiving. Started near the back and, like Vos, was trying to stay out of the way when I went wide on cold tyres and got stuck in the bales. Goran got tangled up in it as well, pleased to see it didn't affect you too much Well done to the podium boys, looking forward to Silverstone next where I hope to get a finish.

So, finally p1, I wonder how that happend? Must have been something like solarwinds or cosmic energy that made you all make it possible. Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you, Honda for the car, Achim Kraft for the engine sound and the rest of you for staying out of the way . Think thats my 2 weeks at the top of the table gone, but the view was nice up there whilst it lasted. Cheers Yes Clutch4, now it is my 2 weeks at the top @Bernie, I say enjoy your podium, you managed something only you me and Ronnie did, we finished the race and that is the most important thing after all. @Ross, sorry if I pushed you further into the bale, looking at the replay I think I should have managed to avoid you, Göran

Like Goran I say enjoy the taste of the champagne. Who knows when we will taste it again in this illustrious company Bernie.
A lightning start got me up to second and the speed of the Lotus on the straights helped me defend my position for a while, but not long. I like this track but it is so unforgiving and any lapse in concentration can and did end in disaster for some. A few lapses and I suddenly found myself down the order a little. Then a trip the wrong side of the haybales after the start finish line scared the life out of me. A quick U turn and I threaded my way back to rejoin the track. As the speed merchants ended there races one by one I was left to try and chase Goran down. I got him in sight towards the end but he kept me at a safe distance to win, well done. Great to finish second but the highlight for me was re drafting/passing Clive down the long straight earlier in the race. It certainly brought a smile to my face, although I'm not sure Clive saw it that way. See you all at Silverstone.
