Summary
The faster cars proved their worth here with Pelle taking the win in the Eagle followed by Greg in a Lotus. Tristan claimed 3rd spot on the podium with a very creditable drive in the comparatively underpowered Brabham.

Lap 1 – Dr Tiroch Kurve – Dave Curtis, Andreas Gebhardt, Fulvio Policardi and Phil Thornton
Dave runs slightly wide at Dr Tiroch Kurve and Fulvio takes advantage by squeezing through on the inside and whilst he doesn’t hold the tight line through the apex, he manages to avoid hitting Dave’s Eagle. However, he does get very close and whilst there is no contact on the server replay, Dave does experience a bit of warp contact. This slows Dave down significantly which catches Andreas out and contact is made. Andreas bounces to the inside out of the way but Dave spins in the middle of the track and is collected by Phil Thornton who has nowhere to go. Phil managed to slow down sufficiently so that contact was minimal, and all drivers could continue without needing a reset.
Whilst Fulvio could made a cleaner pass by keeping close to the inside kerb, no contact was made so this was a racing incident possibly exacerbated by warp.

Lap 2 – Rindt Kurve – Dave Curtis and Andreas Gebhardt.
Andreas is fighting with Francesco and he takes a look up the inside on the approach to Rindt Kurve but he decides not to bother and pulls back in behind Fran. At this point Dave also tries a move but there is not very much room on the inside and in order to avoid contact with Andreas, moves across too much and puts his offside wheels on the grass. This is disastrous, Dave loses braking performance and steering control and he inevitably careers into Andreas.
Francesco was not as far left as he could have been, and Andreas was wise enough to realise that there was not enough room for a pass at that point. By the time Dave realised that it was too late, he was committed and unable to brake safely. Dave was easily a car’s length ahead of Andreas at turn-in so it wasn’t an Impossibly Ambitious Overtake. Dave would have made the corner, so this is closer to a Marginally Ambitious Overtake. However, Dave is responsible for the incident as it was his misjudgement that caused the collision.
