Here's an example, though not a great one. It's a race Geoff and I had last night in practise.
Linky.
He was on Pole and I wasn't. Again.
Anyway, I got off to a much better start (at the risk of an engine) but due to bad driving or whatever on my part, he didn't appear in my mirrors until we were almost at T1R.
Had I been better I would have moved left a little, slightly earlier and maybe seen him sooner. Though as we know, squeezing in GPL is a bad idea.
As it was I didn't know if I was clear or not which I was, by some margin, and I could have taken the racing line and the corner, but I didn't, I lifted to keep a tight line and he drove a wide line getting back on the power earlier and even though he entered the corner behind me he came out in front by the time we got to T2L.
Like I said, not the best example, but I think the racing line is the best side for Pole.
Unless you're Alain Prost in Japan maybe.
Maybe some Pole sitters will have something to contribute.
