I use the new installation for 66s and the original for everything else.  I am used to the dirty marks on the road for 67s and 65s and couldn't possibly do without just for the sake of different trees.

With the latest mod improvements you can have year specific track.3do's and therefore year specific racing grooves, all in one install.

The dirty mrks on my original tracks have been with me since I regrooved with Dave Wilkinson's 67 Cooper laps when I was first learning how to do this lark.

They have to stay!!!   Especially at Silverstone where there is precious little else to look at.  The regroove at Nurburgring didn't work very well and snakes about on and off the track but it still has to stay.

When using them for 65s I brake about half way along the dirty mark.

I make do without on my 66 install  because I can't be bothered.

I would like a line across the track and a sign at Copse that says "Mike, brake here!"

LOL

My brother, Simon, alias Galiesch Darksoul, (currently in GPL retirement due to his daughter having hijacked his pc) was of the same oponion when it came to brake markers.  For Rouen he used the Racing Line utility to build himself a bonfire of available track markers at the end of the straight.  When I say "at the end of the straight" I mean just that.  Smack in the middle of the track so that he knew when he got there because he drove straight through it.

But if you could be bothered you can install any graphic update and then regroove again with your preferred lap, eg Dave Wikinson 67 Cooper, and you will have your dirty marks back and the different trees!!

And as I say with some file manipulation and renaming you can have a different groove for every mod. It is a lot of fuss I have to admit to go through the process, and you do have to be careful you don't get mixed up along the way.

I'm sure there is a ready made brake marker update for Silverstone but anyone can do it as mentioned by using the TRL utility.

All this smacks of underhand manipulation of the software Roll Eyes!! akin to cheating !! Grin  lol

What happened to driving by the seat of your pants and trusting your own judgement?Huh   Just look at my driving................. then again perhaps its better that you don't Roll Eyes

Seriously I do look at the various objects alongside the track, cos the original racing groove indicates braking about 2 light years before I feel the need to, but usually I find that it is only a very rough guide.
After all if you are travelling at close to 200mph (in 67's) approaching Parabolica the difference in distance available in 0.25 secs as you brake is significant!!! Can you guarantee to hit the brakes with the same pressure at exactly the same point every lap?? Unless your name is Hristo or Lorenzo of course!!!

I can't even guarantee to hit the same point in the sand every lap.
