Bring back GTR2!

Hi all, hope someone can help me with my FF problem?
I've got a G25 & I'm very happy with its setup for GTL & GTR2, but as soon as I get in a GPL car... the idling revs alone are enough to shake everything off the desk!!! Sad When I start accelerating it just gets worse.
In windows game controllers I currently have it a 134% (which works well for me in my other games) & I'd rather leave that were it is if I can. Is there a GPL game setting I can turn the FF down? Huh

Ah yes, I had the very same problem. I used to have the overall effects strength on 100% but the spring, damper and centreing spring on 0%. This is fine if you like the car with very light steering but if you, like me, prefer to have a bit of weight behind the wheel, try 80% overall effects with 10% spring, damper and 50% centreing spring.

That's my preference anyway; if you have any better settings then please tell me Smiley.

I thought you could set a game profile for each and every .exe using Logi profiler .

Also think GEM can be used to adjust some settings !

Not sure myself cos I dont use FF with my G25 , well not yet anyway unless someone can convince me its any better then using no FF   Smiley

I used GEM to soften mine. Changed it from standard setting of 250 to 140 and my triceps are glad of the rest. I also had to alter it in iGor .ini as well or it will return back to standard setting for online stuff.

I look forward to clashing with you on Tuesday  Smiley

Another method is an alteration to the second section of the core.ini text file in the main GPL folder.  The default values are there, commented out, if you want to revert to them.  Torque controls the strength, but some claim that an alternative figure for latency produces better feel.

[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1                      ; Use FF if device has it 0 = No *  1 = Yes
force_feedback_damping = 40.0000000           ; force feedback damping coefficient - Default = 40.0
force_feedback_latency = 0.0850000            ; force feedback latency (secs) - Default = 0.085   0.0040000
max_steering_torque = 225.000000              ; steering torque in N*in giving max device force - Default = 225.0
                     ;FFB steer vibe freq mult = 0.2000000

I use the following settings in the Logitech Profiler.  Set these to be the persistent profile and ALWAYS have the profiler running when you are using GPL locally or via GEM, IGOR or VROC.

Overall Effects Strength = 80%
Spring Effect Strength = 10%
Damper Effect Strength = 10%
Enable Centering Spring - ticked and set to 100%
Report Combined Pedals - Unticked
Degrees of Rotation = 200 degrees

And in the core.ini file in the sierra/gpl directory I use these settings:

[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1                   ; Use FF if device has it
force_feedback_damping = 100.000000         ; force feedback damping coefficient
force_feedback_latency = 0.125000          ; force feedback latency (secs)
max_steering_torque = 500.000000           ; steering torque in N*in giving max device

Using the above settings should ensure you don't feel like you're driving in the Kobe earthquake.  You can then tweak those settings to get the feedback you are comfortable with.

I use a Logitech DFP, which uses the same profiler.

My settings are completely different and I don't want to burden anyone with them.

The thing that I have discovered lately, thanks to Ken, is that I can set the wheel to 500 degrees rotation and then use steering ratio of 5:1 instead of my usual 13:1. (Can only get to 7:1 in 67s)

Think it gives me more feel when the little blighters are sliding.

Clive, you can get 5:1 for the 67's if you use GPL Setup Manager.

One thing to note with the FF settings is that increasing the number for max_steering_torque decreases the forces on the wheel and visa versa, decreasing the number increases the force. So I'm puzzled by the post that mentions decreasing from 250 to 140 lightening the steering?!
