and having no Chassis Restriction to start off gives me the perfect start.
I hate to be the one to break it to you but last time I checked, you were a part of "Coopermen" team and lo and behold, they drive Coopers So its a Cooper for you, now, tomorrow and forever You should have stayed with Soggies, we have a variety of different cars... AH but please note Sir, i did win Kyalami in the Cooper! https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4269#event1356 Be afraid , Be very afraid

Bit of a disaster this one , couldnt join server or anyother with igor, tried all things and decided to do a sys restore back a few days and it sorted the problem , only had 2mins to qualify and only managed a 1:22 someit for 11th on the grid, got off to a good start passing 4 or 5 cars into t1, passed a few more who spun or went off at t2, was in 4th but i could hear my hard drive goin crazy with activity and it had my framerate down to 32fps and this was enough to put me off, made a mistake and then decided to pull up as it was not running smoothly, shall be back for next round guns a blazing:), grats to podium

Race replay and reports available here As for me, I was pleasantly surprised to grab 3rd place in qually with my last lap It was also pleasing to see Crash N Burn Racing dominating the qualifying session with 4 out of the top 5 positions going to CnB Racing. From the flag I made storming start and managed to grab second briefly from Will. Shortly after I spun off and was back to 7th or 8th. After that I just kept my calm and worked slowly but surely through the field. Found myself in 3rd place chasing Bernie. I managed to close him down and put some pressure on. After quite a few laps of this Bernie eventually slips off and I sneak up to second. Managed to hold on there for a while. Art was ahead not showing any signs of slowing down! Will was in 3rd behind me and slowly gaining. Eventually I could no longer resist the gravitational pull of the grass and strayed onto it. Will sneaked through and I had enough time to rejoin in 3rd. That how it stayed. Great consistent race from Art who had all 24 laps on track according to GPLRA. Grats to Will for second, and of course Grats to Phil for 6th place which means CnB held 4 of the top 6 places. What a great start to the season Crash N Burn provisionally score max points Great racing all round, had a great time chasing Bernie down for second. See you all soon, Bully.

REED, MARQUE, LEARN: THE JACK O’FERRALL STORY
Kyalami March 30
…’Sir’ Tom Gresham was there, the Reed financial director- that is, he knows how to file Loot’s g and ts as lubricant purchases and not to waste the readies on engines. It won’t get him a knighthood, though. Our Chief Engineer imagined that he’d put one over when he managed to pass his latest 16-cylinder reverie off as a cheaper alternative, because it was ‘just two V8s put together’. Unfortunately Loot then bet he could down sixteen drinks, and after he got into a ‘good mood’, Harry Weslake sold him a V12 as well. Bell could have had twice the budget out of Tom.
He greeted me, but the cheers of the old-timer fans interrupted us as Bernie entered the paddock, or rather, was led into the paddock. The pit allocation left the Soggies with the biggest garage for their one car, while the ‘CrashnBurn’ area looked like a salesroom forecourt. One of the minor teams was using their space to flog the enthusiastic locals an assortment of what looked like very lethal weaponry. I wondered aloud to Tom whether that sort of thing was ‘on’ in open-wheel motor racing. “We need the interest, Jack,” he replied “It all helps to pay your bar bills. In fact, Loot has decided to market your talents as well; he’s got a couple of scripts lined up for a fantasy movie. How does ‘Jack the Conqueror’ grab you?” I was somewhat surprised. “Who’s the leading lady then- it has to be one of the ‘big two’- April Bosoms, or Busty May?” “It’s fantasy, Jack, not adult fantasy. You’re one of the best swordsmen we have. You’re to defeat the wicked wizards.” That was a fantasy. “Yeah, Tom, maybe later. I’ll just look the car over.” “Don’t upset Gerry about the engine again, you know how long it took before we could get him to admit that he’d eaten the registration.”
Bell must live in a garage; he was hanging weights off the engine and writing them down in his little notebook. A more generous driver might have inquired if he was compensating for some new horsepower advantage. “Hello Bell,” I said, “the suspension seems fine and the brakes are working very well.” I shouldn’t have gone on to the brakes. “You mean the car’s slow. If it’s slow it’s because we don’t test enough, because we can’t test in the mornings because you’re too hung over, and we can’t test in the afternoons because you’re still too hung over.” Usually because I’d got pasted after the engine exploded on the fast curve the day before. “Costin and Duckworth decided to couple two engines to the same crank,” I mused “How about that approach?” Luckily two of our orange-suited mechanics were there, so the shaking and the fierce light in his eyes weren’t translated into brutal hatred at just that point in time. You’ve got to worry for the drivers of the future, though- how will they prevent the ghosts of the likes of Bell from haunting race meetings, spitefully destroying engines? Anyway, he scuttled off and I got the car onto the track, it went quite well, under 1:23, only two-and-a-half seconds slower than the Lotus then. Handling was okay, and the car’s built well enough. Even the engine ran smoothly in its band, must be some good magic about too, because our records suggested that it was very shaky. If it was a choice between one of our engines or sitting in a fuel bath, I’d go for the engine, that’s just me though, and I’ve never sat in a bath full of petrol. Each driver has to make his own personal decision about what is safe and what isn’t.
Kyalami’s one of the best tracks if you’ve got good acceleration, you can cope with the hairpin and esses and get up to speed quickly for the long straight. However, I had tenth on the grid and Ian was twelfth, and our more immediate problem was that my poor start would block him and not some other unfortunate. I began better than usual, and he swung out from behind me, and with some more avoiding action on his part we got around the first lap okay, despite my failure to find second both into and then out of the esses. I didn’t glimpse the leaders after the first lap. Occasionally a Ferrari or Lotus would run off the course, I’d pass them and then muster my best pace out of Leeukop in a doomed attempt to hold them off on the straight, but they always outbraked me. I considered somehow blocking the inside, but that might have risked my only card, so I left it for the closing stages in the firm hope the occasion wouldn’t arise. At least my engine held up, Ian’s exploded at the first opportunity. “That’s an engine I owe Lord Loot” was his terse comment. I almost suggested that it was in fact two engines, vaguely coupled together, but I could sense his pain. I might suffer for the omission, and seventh won’t please Loot either. Champagne for Art and ‘CrashnBurn’, off to the temple of the conquistadors of the classless society for me and Reed Racing….

My race began well enough after the transporter finally managed to find its way into the track, after being misdirected a few times by the race director, who insisted on us using the rear entrance to the circuit .
For once I made a half decent job of qualifying (4th is very good for this driver )which left time to check the race set up in preperation for the big event .
Come race day and I couldnt beleive my luck after finding myself in P2 at the end of the openeing lap.
It was half way through the next lap when the truth dawned , I just knew by the way the car handled that my race mechanic had "cocked things up" and I had the short fuel quallifying set up installed instead of my well practised race setup !
The outcome was quickly overheated tyres soon followed by the dreaded low gas stutter and then having to make the first of 2 pit stops for fuel !
All in all I was lucky to recover a place or two and finish a lowly eigth and a much wiser man after the event .
Grats to Art and the podium , looking forward to a decent race at Spa and becoming the thorn in the side of the crash and burn team .
Bernie

Well the qually went better for me than I ever would have thought. P2 behind fellow teamie Will and thoiught that'll do but with around 3 mins left I just thought one more try and by some miracle P1 at chequered flag and a nose bleed. I have been practicing my starts for such occasions but I feared that I'd cock it up like mynormally do but to my amazement I took off pretty well and kept Will and co behind me. Had a bit of a scare as I saw some rocket start coming down the inside but I covered the inside line and got around T1 safely. After that not a great deal to report apart from a good job from the backmarkers and thank you for being co-operative. Had a bit of a scare when I was coming to Lap Mr Robey's Fezza and was behind him for a few corners but apart from that a clean race for me and a and even more important 1, 2, 3, for Crash 'n' Burn Racing with Phil in 6th as well. C ya all at Spa.

Moderated race results are published Hi Kruger, I'm trying to understand the penalty points applied to Steve Bird and Bernie. What are they exactly? Unlikely to be the old YCP for a missed pit stop so I'm a bit lost. As usual.

Hi Clive,
I got caught out with the rule my self as I found it to be new for this season (I think). I find it to be an improvement as it sounds fair to award a bigger penalty for a missed SnG when there is clearly no doubt that SnG was required as opposed to driver not taking SnG not being sure whether he was entitled to a no fault SnG. See below an excerpt from the UKGPL rules referring to this particular point.
In both these cases, SnG was required beyond doubt.
Cheers
Kruger
A driver is required to make a Stop and Go within 2 laps of any shift R, unless the shift R was necessary as a result of an incident that was entirely the fault of another driver. If the driver is culpable in any way and has not chosen to make a Stop and Go then for situations where the shift R was taken as a result of an incident involving another driver, a 15 second time penalty will be awarded. For situations where clearly no other car was involved (e.g. mechanical problems or becoming beached on a banking) a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Specific Rules for Clubman's Cup As per Historic Trophy but Shift-R's in the pitlane are not allowed.

Steve and Bernie shouldn't have been given a penalty. I've amended the results it it's OK now. The rules haven't changed from last season so the penalties are as Clive remembers them from his modding days . It takes a while to get to know how LM2 works and Kruger just selected the wrong option in the drop-down menu. Remember "Time Penalty" is not the same as"Penalty". "Penalty" only has a meaning in the context of the yellow card system. Sorry I should have noticed the mistake earlier, but it's fine now .
