The moderators have been discussing the use of the Pit Stop Patch. In the opinion of the moderators, the patch does not give a guaranteed performance advantage over a race distance. It does allow driver to run a lower fuel load and hence achieve faster lap times but the time taken to refuel tends to cancel out the time saved by the faster lap times. To remove any confusion and to allow all drivers to have the benefit of refuelling rather than failing to finish a league race because they have run out of gas, the rules page has been updated to explicitly allow the use of the patch.

Thanks to Lee for writing the patch - another little GPL gem.
If we get chance at the end of the season we might run another endurance race where there are compulsory refuelling stops.

Hey, Billy! This is keen. Yes, I'd like to see the patch used for the GT's as per our recent LeMans du Noir round. However, I think a clarification is req'd to identify the patch more suitable for use. There are two available. Patch 1.00 has a standard refuel rate across the board. Patch 0.22 has a rate for all mods expect the GT's where the rate is much, much slower. I used it successfully at the LeMans race. I mean, Lee didn't write both without reasons if you follow me.

...the time taken to refuel tends to cancel out the time saved by the faster lap times... Exactly my take on it (there's no advantage to it at the race distances we run, but nice to have it to cover the occasional "oops"). Thanks for the clarification.

Given two identical cars each making a pit stop at the same time for a refuel and given that the patch procedure is properly followed with no gaffes, if one takes some 4-1/4 times longer to get back in motion, there's you answer, Dean, as to whom is using which patch. The refuel rates for GT's is much, much slower and for a race nominated for GT's, I think that's the one(V.22)that should be invoked.
