Just so you can understand the gulf -people are grumbling that they can't get below 1:27 - I can't do better than a 1:45 and after six laps I had to stop because I got a violent bout of motion sickness! I know I am not being brave enough about what is possible and so the tyres aren't warming up so there is no grip so I am being cautious etc etc - Catch 1:45 you could say.
Tough tough tough.

Wow 1:27.7 is fast. I got the Cooper down to 1:28.1 but that's about it for me I think. Will be interesting to see what the others do.
Tom.

I'm in the 30's and staying there, doubt I'll get any more than that. See you all at T1

After a quick practice last night, I'm finding it very difficult to find an ideal setup for the Brabham. The nose keeps on understeering and the back end gets very nervous whenever I try to put the power down. It the moment, my best time is a 1:30 dead, a few tenths off my time in the BRM . This is going to be long race!

From memories, it was very consistent over the race distance, so give it a go if you want.

I have a good proven Brabham setup in my pack. I can only see Honda setups for Jarama in your pack Hristo, that Brabham setup would be very useful if its available?

Hmm, OK, I'll look for them in my old GPL folder and update the pack if I find them. It's been 3 and a half years since I had that race...
EDIT: OK, found the setups and added them to the pack. Also added my current Honda qualifying setup. I'll try to do a guide tomorrow, but it's probably going to have a replay lap recorded rather than live driving. I find it very difficult to do a fast lap of this track while recording and having the steering wheel visual turned on (I have it turned off normally).

Is this really a kart track- it's tight enough! Just had 20 laps practice, the best being 1:35. Lots of broadsliding into those tightening corners and wild fishtailing coming out [need more clutches!]. But it seems to be quickest, smooth doesn't work here for me. 10 secs a lap behind the fast boys means being lapped after 8 1/2 laps ?. Good job we have our Private[er]s slot.

I find that my fastest times come from very neat, very tidy laps, without going too wide, but carrying a lot of speed into corners and accelerating early. A very difficult thing to achieve, but mandatory for the race to avoid cooking the tires. Even 1 or 2 bigger slides seem to eventually lead to bad overheating at the rears, especially on the left side. That said, I have to make my setup quite responsive (aka loose) to produce a fast time, so it becomes a matter of controlling the available "looseness" and only using it in some corners where you benefit from it.

Very challenging track & I can't see me finishing without a few trips to the scenery.
Fairly happy with my BT24 set up which is behaving quite nicely but due to my limited ability is around the 1.35 mark. Happy to share this if anyone is interested - send me an e-mail address by PM.
