iGOR

Go to .wine\drive_c\gplsecrets\igor
open igor.ini with editor notepad (just doubleclick)

Is this the first lines?
if not do it
[ RaceListServers ]
IP                        = igor.gplrank.info
___________________________________________________________
Now test Gpl by starting with unplugged wheel - try keyboard to test

1. Is NVidia driver 450/455 active?
2. Can you read the menu fonts?

when gpl starts it wants to calibrate
- just press "ok" on bottom
- assign steering keys to left - right arrows
throttle to up
brake to down
and set the shifting to automatic

Now you can do a slow lap and see if gpl runs graphics ok
__________________________________________________________

G29

Now back to the event option in Wine control -

disable the one with (jst)
reenable the (event)

so G29 (event)  is active

we solve the G29 later- I search the net

Igor is set to the correct IP

I can ping the race server and get 4 good returns

GEM loads GPL fine I can go racing with keypad ( but only numeric keys work )

Graphics are good

With JS I can calibrate the wheel OK but when I go to race screen the wheel and pedals do not work , just no movement at all
In wine control joystick test there is no deflection response on any of the axis

With event set in Wine joystick tests good all axis ok , there is a constant force showing in test FF
In GPL I can calibrate OK but driving is almost impossible with the FF effects very strong , If I let go my grip on the wheel it shakes back and forth like a steam hammer on steroids

Maybe this can be fixed with some better  FF settings ?

Ok so let try the FFB2

Download https://www.sendspace.com/file/uon4cm

Put the file as is into /home/bernie/.wine/drive_c/GPLSecrets/GEM/options

Set the controls  to the values as in my pics - check FFB2

The higher the value in maximum force the lower the strength to steer - just test and try

Yup that's got things working better,  but it needs some tweeking .
I'm getting  no resistance on the straights , then suddenly when you turn into a bend or corner the FF comes in with a jerk  . I never used FF before so not sure if that's how it should be , but I would have thought the transition would have been smooth .

Previously I have had it set without FF , there was always some resistance ( too strong resistance ) to be felt at all times , even though FF  was turned off

If I turn off FF now there is no resistance at all !

Will have to play around with  the other settings and see if its fixable to my liking

With the "no race list " problem I was wondering if its possibly my router blocking the race server , like incoming only ?

I think I can check the router  out , otherwise I have my old PC with working GPL on it , I could try that , it should prove weather its a PC or a connection problem .

Bit of a bugger having no race list

Bernie it's fine FFB works.

Now we can try to optimize

Do not change the 0 in damping and latency!

Try max force up to 450 - 500 even more if needed - as the higher the number the lower the maximum force!
I test it in Monza rumbling the curbs in curva grande and Lesmos!

if Sitting in the pits steering fast (left - right - left - right) gives you a medium-soft resistance than it's ok.

There is no auto centering spring possible,
as GPL produces no force as long you do a straight line
but
in linux we have a better FFB as the deadzone is much smaller!
!!! test it by doing slow snake lines...compare it by doing the same in W10!!!

Doing Curva grande should give you a good smooth feeling of the steering.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Are you ok with the wheel rotation of 900° ?
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

igor racelist is not a problem of the router!

it's a problem of the igor.ini!

What action have you done with it yet?

Open it with editor notepad and check if the path to the gpl.exe is set correct!

Only what you said checked that Igor.ini is OK and pointed to correct IP

I have ping'd the race server and that was OK ( to prove connection to server is OK ? )

I have checked firewall exceptions are OK

I could totally disable the Firewall to check it out but dont feel secure doing this !

No idea atm

You talk of your router firewall?

If you totally disable the Firewall to check it out is no problem in linux! Linux is save

But it's not the problem when you use the same for W10 pc

Great!

Yes linux has own firewall UFW by default - no need to worry - no need to config if nothing special is running.
No AV needed as linux has much saver system derrived from server system unix.

Please can you make a screenshot with open GEM   + iGOR?

just use "printscreen" button - save it to your desktop

and upload it to https://imgbb.com/  by drag and drop the file into the upper part of the page

copy the second choice on bottom "BBCode full" and place it in post

oups

Now please step by step - what have you done? Any difficult input like strange path?

Where was the Wiesbaden install file wich folder?
(I first move a windows file from downloads to .wine\drive_c - and run it from there, Linux has other filesystem than wine!)

Often it helps to shut down the PC and let it start again, then Linux sorts it...

to be prepared I installed manjaro

3 clicks for Wiesbaden
