Bernie you should rename the GEM.ini and then just start the GEM shortcut on the desktop. Then you will be asked again for the language and where the gpl.exe is.

Yes , that is what I have done,  but GEM does not right the the files , there is no GEM.ini folder , it is still as if I had deleted it  Shocked

This may not be it at all Smiley  but from running winecfg,  on the 'Applications' tab, is it set to mimic a particular Windows version?
Maybe the GEM.INI would be found in another directory?  (maybe search under your 'drive_c' directory).

I think for example. that WinXP mode will write the GEM.INI in the GEM+ folder where the GEMP2.exe is located.
Later Win behaviour may write that somewhere under .wine/drive_c/users/xxxx  as mentioned elsewhere

So may be as well to check whether there is another copy in another location.   Otherwise, maybe re-run the installation for GEM+ again.
I've had to do that before where adding a mod broke something & re-installing GEM+ got it working again.

Otherwise, I'm probably out of ideas, so back to Axel Smiley

Cheers,
Dave.

Yes, some posts before I told where the gem.ini is - I think it's the same place in all Windoze versions Wink

/home/bernie/.wine/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/GEM+/

If there is no gem.ini GEM+ will build a new one when started.

OK I got it to re write GEM.ini

I can access the "seasons" file

when I go to close GEM I get the box GEM+ has changed the following :-

GPLC67.exe
GEM.ini

Next I click OK to exit but cant do so because the GEM page has frozen

Back to square 1 having to re boot to exit   taz

Bernie
in linux a frozen program can be ended by ctrl+alt+backspace - this just stops all running processes - you just have to login again

I've no idea what you made in this folder where the gem.ini is...

Have you reinstalled the whole gempackage?

Yes but it doesn' t "unfreeze " GEM , as I said , I have to re boot .

Not sure what is the whole package, I just re build GEM with the installer .

Ah, ok - that killed the install - i guess you did not uninstall the whole thing first...

The installer for GEM installs not only GEM! It's GEMPackage_2.5.0.32.exe

Linux is not Windoze! It is not as tolerant vs errors. If something is a little different it will not work.

Now you have to first uninstall and wipe all gplsecrets stuff.
