One more fun race for this Friday.
This is a trial for a possible substitution of track in the Formula 2 series. Tulln Langenlebarn – try saying that after six pints. Seems to have been neglected by UKGPL over the years.
It is, however, on the F2 Rank – quite a short track but a couple of challenging corners to master.
Free choice of chassis.
Advanced damage model – no Stop & Gos but you are only permitted a maximum of 2 x Resets.

Note – this track is not currently shown on the GPL list – so it’s going to be a bit of a boot-leg race. Hope you can find the time to try this one out!

I'd recommend everyone install the authors track update.  It's more realistic and more fun to drive :  http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=7107&st=0

T7 server is set to 35 laps Long race and listening on Igor in Console session with OpenGL_V2 cause F2 mod doesn't run on OpenGL.

Fulvo - thanks for setting the server.

Martin - the track update certainly enhances the visual effects - but the the main straight is a like riding a pogo stick.

Hi Billy and Joseph,

The Tulln update was made especially for the F2 release, and received official testing and approval.  The bumps are there, because of the nature of the actual track.  It wasn't all plain sailing back in 1967, so drivers adjusted setups to cope.  It's up to our potential Moderator to decide, if the update makes racing too dangerous, but you've left it rather late - I suspect some are already bumping around realistically.wacko  Please make a ruling ASAP.

Joseph - welcome aboard!  I'm not an official here, but suggest you try joining a fun race or 2 on IGOR, if you've not already done so.  And perhaps there'll be a Tulln server up before race time, for you to try.  Chat is possible there, when things aren't busy.  GL.  Smiley

OK I set UKGPL_8 for Tulln with the F2 update for a online test this afternoon Wink

I was wondering if the server can have the old version only and drivers the upgraded track?

WOW

I just did it!

These are 2 totally different tracks!!!

No difference with the server -> old track <-> client -> new track.

But the old one is 1-2 seconds faster!

As you can not know which track a client uses, maybe it is seen on the bumpy straight how the car behaves...

Cookie,
Are you sure the update makes such a difference on lap times? The graphics are better & the main straight is very bumpy with the update.
I installed the original version a couple of weeks ago. I’m guessing my times are quite slow – mainly because I can’t carry any speed through the last hair-pin. PB was 1.09.
After installing the update last night the best I could do was a 1.10, with the same set up. So there might be a 1 second difference. The obvious factor would be the bumps on the main straight – but the split times in Prib indicate this is making very little difference.
My guess is that it would not be a good idea to run a championship race here if drivers can get an advantage by using the original version of the track.
Friday is a fun race. I suggest we all use the update – WITH THE BUMPS.
Comments welcome …

Thanks,

I am still trying to understand how IGOR, VROC, etc. works so once I figure it out, I will enter a race or two.

Joseph,
Wouldn't worry about VROC - all UKGPL races are run through IGOR.

To test iGOR - start it up and look at your racelist.  If some tracks are listed, it's working - if you see any green buttons, during their practice BEFORE a race, that mod is also working.  Click on a green button, and select a car, to go racing with.

Tulln update has some haybales rearranged on at least one corner, to make things more accurate.  Server might be Ok without, or might mangle  and destroy many innocent victims. It's testing time! laugh

I am having a problem after clicking on a race in IGOR.

1. It opens GPL F2 like it should and it makes a good connection to the host BUT
2. After the hour glass goes away, GPL closes and I get  "GPL has encountered a problem and must close" popup error.

Does anyone know how to resolve this??

Thanks
