Moderator's Report

A great track for our Porsches and a great debut from our French Flyers with a debut 1,2 finish.

More Pro than Am they will race in different colours next time out.

Server replay time: 0h27m43s

Andrea runs into the back of Nicky at Woodcote and spins him.
This is the second time the two have come into contact and the second time Nicky has been on the receiving end.

The first incident is not reported as such but I will mention it as I examined it.
Andrea has not overlap at turn in but Nicky seemed to move over earlier than on previous laps when Andrea was visible in the mirrors going for the inside. The pass attempt was late and unlikely to succeed but I will not apply a punishment here.

The second incident which was reported is much more clear cut and is not an overtake attempt, Andrea intends to follow Nicky but simply does not react quickly enough and runs into the back of him.

This was a clumsy collision that should have been avoided.

Moderator's Report

There were some incidents in this race after lap 1 that went unreported so they will not be moderated or punished, but if you get a minute it is worth watching Vosblod punt his team mate Steve off at Abbey.

Server replay time: 0h00m58s

Fabio is still putting out his cigarette as the race starts so he doesn't see how close he gets to Geoff on the run to T1.

As he turns his mobile phone off and puts it in the glove compartment he hits Geoff and ends up in a barrel roll while Geoff continues apparently unaffected apart from the cost of some white paint and turtle wax.

Though unreported this is a lap 1 incident so it comes under moderation, but as Fabio is the only one affected and ends up last I have not punished his stupidity.

His punishment is knowing that everybody will now watch his replay.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h01m55s

Jason follows Geoff into Stowe and hits him.
Jason seemed to make a lazy and failed attempt at a pass but neither committed to it or backed out of it.
The end result was inevitable as the 2 make contact and Geoff is punted off.

There was an element of warp involved and Geoff was warping at times but that cannot be used as an excuse as Jason should have backed out of the move earlier.

I have taken warp into account but this was still an avoidable incident.

Server replay time: 0h17m28s

Pedro follows Ronnie into Stowe but only 1 emerges but can you guess which one?

Yes! The one at the back.

This was a tricky one as Pedro has no overlap at turn in and does not look to be trying a pass, but Ronnie slides off the line mid corner and a gap opens as they start to exit the corner.

Ronnie corrects his slide and moves back towards the inside where Pedro now is and the two make contact.

At first glance this would appear to be Pedro being a little ambitious but I think a valid passing opportunity opens up until Ronnie corrects and the collision occurs on Pedro's side of the track.

Both recover and Pedro slows to wait for Ronnie, though this is not advisable and often causes further trouble rather than being a simple gentlemanly gesture.

Ronnie....... I am very very sorry to run in to you!
I was so re leaved to see you could drive further.
You were going wide and I thought I give it a go............please forgive me.

Great race with Pedro. With Axel riding shotgun for me he held him off valiantly as long as he could. This gave me a chance to get used to my cars race setup for the impending duel with the faster car of Pedro. Sure enough when he had cleared Axel he closed in. We then had a succession of really great laps where he could get close but just not close enough to pass. Unfortunately for us both it all ended when I suddenly found myself rolling over at the end of the hanger straight. I assumed Pedro had made contact. I forgive you but for the sake of team International I have to report it Pedro. Whatever the mods decide is good with me and no hard feelings on my part.

When the car stopped rolling it was the right way up and appeared to be drivable. I set off again expecting the car to give up on me any second but it didn't and I started to speed up after a few laps. Just when I thought okay we might finish this one bang went the engine, again! Sorry Juha and Axel, thank god you both drove so well. Grats also to Hristo and Sam.

Gentlemen,

It would be REALLY helpful if you make sure that you join the correct server with the correct car (Cookie, Du Fossa Sad ).

Paul  euro
sorry for making extra work, but when I tell you what happenend you will laugh:
After some great fun racing this afternoon with Andrea in LeMans with my ChapF I was a little tired  yawn and laid down.....
AWAKING  Shocked ...dark outside!?...21:18GMT on my clock.....uhhhhhhhhhh  cursing ....pc started.... looking which server Juha is....pw.... and go!....still 17minQuali....but car sounds strange deep Shocked .... OMG wrong car!  oops ...leave server ... rejoin

Practice went ok but couldnt make a 2nd stint where I use to make my best times

Race start was good as I managed to keep fast Pedro behind me following Ray. Could keep Rays pace but Pedro was  pushing hard behind, so I decided to be a team player and defend. So Pedro had a very defensive  Cookie to swallow, what he finally did after some laps in an excellent maneuver  thumbup1
Still a little sleepy my pace went down until I saw Pedro and Ray in the green. Could pass them carefully with Jason getting bigger in my mirror.
Tried to get faster but Pedro was coming again from behind. Now I wanted to defend my position but Pedro is better in infight
So I dreamed further when in last laps this Jason came again pretty near promising a hard last lap. But he made a mistake in one of the last corners and made me a lucky 5th thumbup2

Gratz to podium and all finishers
Thx for great racing

Cheers

This gets the silverware for story of the round I reckon!!!.... oops

The results currently show me as subbing for Hiki-Waza 2, and much though I admire their talent, I'm fully paid up, as a reserve for Pastit Porsche. Grin

I just tried a couple of laps with Tom's setup and I must say I'm very impressed with how much better the Porsche was handling! It has stiffer suspension, different bump/rebound, different gearing, stiffer front ARB, a 30/85 diff and the car was suddenly so stable and grippy, even when I was messing up! The corner entry, change of direction, and traction were superb.

Couldn't quite do a 30.1, but came out with a PB of 30.35, half a second better than my PB! Thanks very much for the eye opener on setuping the Porsche, Tom!  Grin

The replays are stored under the 'Replays' item on the UKGPL front page - top left, just above forums.

Thanks for that Paul.

Now that I've seen the replay, I find it funny to compare what you think happened and what actually happened.....I wasn't hit at all...

...I span avoiding the car in front, who seemed to be taking the first corner very cautiously....  And what a good job I did miss him, because it was none other than my team leader for the night, Evil...

phew...  Smiley

There's no way I could've done a low 30, not even a mid 30, at least not with my setup. Tom was kind enough to send me his, so I'll take a look at it and try to figure out if it was the setup or that he's just a much quicker driver than I am.

My race was a lonely one for most of its part, after the initial scrap with Sam and subsequently Juha was brought to an end when both made mistakes and dropped back. Despite making some errors, I could gradually increase the gap back to Juha and keep 1st, even with an off near the end when the wheel lock up bug kicked in.

I must congratulate Sam on his great pace in Qualifying!

Many thanks for your kind words H. I too was surprised at my quali time, though I did get help from Geoff's car with a tow  Smiley. As for the race, Juha passed me early on and I had a grandstand seat watching H and Juha battle it out. Their squabbling allowed me to stay in touch until Juha lost it at Chapel which promoted me in second, behind H.

What became apparent after that was, despite perhaps being able to match H on the odd lap or two. I couldn't sustain that pace consistently. I was past my comfort zone and was making a lots of mistakes in a bid to catch H. Sooner or later, the inevitable happened and a lost the back end into Becketts, allowing Juha back up the second and me down to third where I stayed for the rest of the race.

A error ridden run to the flag commenced but was still pleased to bag third. Congrats to H and Juha for being able to sustain such brilliant pace  Smiley.

not very good this one, pace was ok but i could go faster setup was very stable and easy to control ,thanks Cookie for setup, (little modified setup:Smiley) . Few laps i try to chase Hristo but couldnt overtake him no way, small mistake and i drop 4-5 places, this was like replay of our earlier Silverstone race, but Hristo didnt blew his engine.  laugh

Sam did mistake in some point and i was back to 2nd place , Hristo was one point 6 seconds away but he maybe see on pitboard that i was closing cap slowly, after that he speeded up.

some troubles with backmarkers they didnt gave me clean raceline to overtake and i have to move off raceline most of time, sorry to Paul as i hit you lightly on Copse but you did somehow brake on middle of corner and i was not aware of it.,sorry.

good points to the team  Grin, shame ronnie you didnt finish. Embarrassed

on to the Kyalami

So which one of the racing two (Tom and Tristin) is the amateur circulating in the 1.30's at Silverstone?

It seems to me we accepted a couple of new teams without even ranking their drivers first.  Roll Eyes

Just as our 65 chassis are moderated, so to will our Porsche teams be monitored.

Just a note to say that this has been addressed and we don't need to get into a UKGPL style public debate.

Your concerns are noted and have been actioned.

No doubt an announcement of some kind will follow.

Thanks

Hello,

ok no problem, we'll change our team.
So, we plan to have 2 teams :

LOL'TEAM 1 :   Tom / Tristan   (2pros)

LOL'TEAM 2 : Maxime (novice) and two others amateurs drivers.
Is there two drivers without team who want to race with maxime ? If not, perhaps we coulds find two another french friends.
i'll speak to maxime to know if he's agree .

See you Smiley

I was more than pleased to nail a PB and squeeze myself up to 5th on the grid behind Team LOL who were setting some stunning times.

The plan was to try and hang on in their slipstream and get towed along for as long as I could keep the car on the track. However I screwed that little plan by twitching my fingers on the grid, causing my gearbox to select 1st gear and lurching forward.............JUMP START!!! Huh Shocked Then I fluffed the real start and Tom v O jumped past me to chase the fast boys.

Sure enough, 1st time past the pits and I get the black flag Undecided ,so 2nd lap I pull into pits and wait....and wait.......and wait, as the whole grid sweeps past and I am emerge from the pit lane in last position.....not good cursing cursing

By the time I am up to speed the nearest car is about half a lap in front and out of sight even on Hangar Straight!! I tried to concentrate on hitting every apex and screwing every last rev out of the Porker without busting the engine and slowly reeled in car after car.
Of course, the further I progresses up through the field I had to pass cars that were faster and faster and each one required some thought and planning to make a clean pass. Some were kind enough to launch themselves into the scenery and i was eventually up to 4th...which was where all this started. The podium guys were almost a lap ahead by now and there was no chance of catching them unless they made a big mistake or broke their engines, so I pressed on and maintained my pace. I got my FL on the last lap but it still was not into the 1:30's, so 4th was probably as good as I was going to get even with a good start.

Grats to the podium on some stunning lap times and thanks to all the drivers for clean racing.

Hristo, can you forward me that alien setup for the Porsche?? would love to know how they are carrying so much speed through the corners... Wink
