First thanks for some great fun last night guys and to all those who were racing.
Robert John ( not to be confused with John Roberts!..I see that as potential for many misunderstandings in the future lol) also joined us and showed that he is very quick
..welcome Robert, or is it John??
Also a big "welcome back" to Diki Waza and some very respectable results for someone who has been away for so long.
After last nights races I am beginning to get worried.
I think you guys are allowing me to win these races and setting me up for a huge shock when season 23 starts!! and I am stuck in one of the slower cars
When the F2 mod was released I did not have time to try all the cars and really get to grips with how to drive them. I joined a couple of fun races at Breasts and slightly tweaked the Default setup, but without any great commitment or success.
When Axel suggested this short fun series of races and it looked like UKGPL was going to run a full series next season, I thought maybe it would be a good excuse to really try these cars.
Just before the 1st race I spent half an hour playing with setups for the 2 cars that were being used and found what I felt was a reasonably comfortable solution that I could drive, because for me, the default just did not seem right..
How was I to know that it was going to allow me to lap very quickly compared to everyone else???
What was even more scary was that when I copied the same setup to the other cars it worked just as well.!!!
Last night we had the 2 "oddball" cars from the F2's which I expected to bring me down to earth with a bump! I admit I spent an hour on Sunday playing with these 2 setups and gearing until I felt that they were at least easy to drive, but the setups always felt that I was losing time in corners and should have been a second or so faster. So, I entered the server expecting to be mid grid, maybe a little higher.
As usual, I did qually on full race fuel just to be sure that I had a good feel for the car and its limits, but both times found myself on pole!! I was truly not expecting to anywhere near that position.
Well, as I was on pole there really was only one thing to do...just get my head down and go as fast as I could in true Waza style
I think the guys behind must have held themselves up by arguing over 2nd place, because I slowly eased away.
This time I tried very hard NOT to go for lap records etc and just concentrated on getting to the end of the race.
Thanks to all of those I was lucky enough to lap for easing off and making it easy, just sorry it interrupted your race.
