Season 32 Sports Car Trophy – Round 1 - Daytona Road Course
The first round of Season 32 race finds us at Daytona, we will be racing on the Road Course as used in 1967. The 3.81-mile (6.13 km) road course was built in 1959 and first hosted a three-hour sports car race called the Daytona Continental in 1962. The race length became 2,000 km (1,200 mi) in 1964, and in 1966 was extended to a 24-hour endurance race known as the Rolex 24 at Daytona. It was shortened again to six hours in 1972 and cancelled entirely in 1974.

Handicapping and chassis allocation. This season the Sports Car Trophy will be using a token system which allows drivers to purchase any chassis of their choice for a given number of tokens as published on the championship standings page. Drivers classed as Amateurs will be allocated an additional 10 tokens. The token allocation will not be managed in SRou this season so (unlike the 67F1 Works and 67F1 Privateer divisions) the tokens available to each driver will not appear in the championship table (when the mouse pointer is hovered over the driver's total). Rather, the available tokens will be published in the race announcement. See below. Axel, could you post the link to the "brake fix" for the GT's. I did see a message somewhere about it being available but never got around to installing it.
I am sure that there are quite a few other drivers who may not be aware of that fix. The braking issue was one of the things that really spoilt the fun of driving these cars when they were released.

It was in the Road America Fun Race I highly recommend to use the "GPL Tire Pressure Bug Fix Patch" of Lee Bowden for the Sport Cars. It makes the cars tyres way better controllable and reduces the brake bug to a minimum. Put it in the GPLsecrets\GEM+\options folder where the 60fps patches are and activate it in GEM+

Am I right in thinking we only activate it for the GT mod? Or does it just stay active?

I'm not sure how we can check if the patch is used or not. I suspect we cannot. The general principle is that patches or fixes that affect performance are not allowed. The details are spelt out here. However given that this patch is designated a bug fix it would probably be OK to allow it. I need to confer with the mod team and if necessary update the rules pages before Sunday to make the use or ban explicit.

It is a patch you can activate for each mod individually. The patch corrects a bug in the original game! It does not make cars faster! You can see the big differences of the GT tyre temps in one tyre middle to sides. The effect is better the bigger the difference to the 67 original front tyre pressure of 24psi! The temps become more even and the contact to the road is bigger, no more balloon effect! It does not make you faster, au contraire a little slower in top speed (more rolling resistance!), but it corrects the faulty calculation of the tyre temperatures wich makes the car handle better. So for LeMans I would not activate it More info is here: http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=11664

Commitments elsewhere...helping my younger lad get bedded-in as a freshman at Ryerson U in Toronto...will again deny me the opportunity of an entry. Have fun, chaps!

Only 8 tokens for the MKIV ! It is not easy to drive but has a great speed on quick track. On Le Mans, Monza, Spa, Dayton and Sebring, it should be among the best !

The tokens were calculated based on the world record times averaged over a typical season. The typical season being the standard papyrus tracks. The MKIV is only quicker than average on 3 papyrus circuits, Silverstone, Spa and Monza. It is very slow at Monaco . Hence the rather cheap tokens. I agree the MKIV will be popular at Le Mans. We could calculate tokens on a track by track basis which would mean the MKIV would cost more tokens at Le Mans but that would make the token calculation spreadsheet a bit more complicated. By no means impossible (we used to do this when we had Pit Stops, the pit stops were calculated individually for each chassis/track combination for example look here and here). But it would not be possible to integrate such a complex token system into SRou without a lot of work for Gizmo. Personally I don't think it is worth the effort to integrate such a system into SRou but we could manage it in a spreadsheet. I'd be happy to try a track by track token system next season if there is enough interest. Anyway enough talk of tokens, I'm beginning to sound like a GPL anorack. We are here to race and have fun

It was just a question. I don't want and I don't need any change with tokens.

The big block Fords and Porsche should be popular with the Pros this season. I'm finally going to try to learn to drive them well. I've made some nice improvements with the Mark IV over the past two weeks. Of the 5 tracks you mentioned, Lemans is the only one I'd favor the Mark IV or Mark IIB. I'd much rather have the either of the Chaparrals, the T70, or Ferrari on the other 4 tracks.

Dean - if you still have trouble and see this check your firewall isn't blocking your access I haven't used the GT's online on this build of my PC and had to allow access to the net for GPLCGT.exe - I was timing out too as windows was blocking it

Second race in succession. Couldn't join.... My computer seems to have issues joining UKGPL 9 specifically. Every other server is fine. Not in the best of moods right now....

Unable to join (timing out). Firewall wasn't the issue (already allowed). Rebuilt the exe, no go, restarted pc, no go, checked every inch of my network and settings nothing changed, runs fine offline. Stymied and frustrated atm.
