lol Phil !! Yes you did scare the living daylights out of me when you braked!!
and Yes I do normally take that bend absolutely flat, but that is difficult with a Fezza obscuring the horizon..lol
I think I have only raced this track once before and although I had a fair idea of what comes next it took me all of qualli to hook up a half tidy lap. Multiple trips into fences hedges and ravines prompted several changes to the setup which gradually improved the cars predictability and I was relatively confident of a good race.
My big mistake became apparent just after the start, I had not loaded the modified setup for the race and still had an almost default setup on the car. It became very obvious that this race was not going to be fun when the car refused to brake and turn at the bottom of the hill!!
and I took the chicken route behind the wall and mixed with a few locals to discuss the finer points of pils lager.
By the time I had performd a 3 point turn and climbed the grass bank I was in time to see Paul and co in their Ferraris coming down the hill. I set off after the field and was amazed at how fast I was catching cars despite discovering that 6th gear was about 3 revs different to 5th and I was having to back off on the straights to protect the engine.
I had a couple of minor offs and excursions and one detour around the bridge through the cobbled sections where i was surprised to see someone else follow me??!! Maybe they thought it was a shortcut???
To be quite honest the setup was terrible and I was overdriving even that, plus my mind was not fully focused on driving and the inevitable happend and I watched a wheel or two complete more of the race on their own than they ever would have attached to the car I was driving!!
Grats to all the finishers and a especially for Paul who drove within himself and got a deserved 4th place.....a podium beckons
