Got a new PB and a clean run until a few to go. Was busy admiring Evil's sliding technique and thinking where is the best place to let him lap when my car decided it would be best to give him a 360 to negotiate instead - sorry about that Ye Olde don't take thou mind off the track, will I ever learn... Anyway after that I went to pot. Still - good practice for next season?

More of a no fun race. Found yet another way to bugger up GPL - but would appreciate some guidance for the future. In qualifying I did one of those multiple spins in the essess but without hitting anything solid so I just rejoined. The track looked a bit odd & I figured out I was going in the wrong direction when another car went flying past in the other direction. GPL decided (reasonably enough) to disqualify me. I exited the server & rejoined but it remembered my misdemeanours. Fall back plan was to start the actual race from the back of the grid or the pit lane. Just before the race started I was asked to remove my car from the pit lane - which I did as not sure if it would compromise the start for everyone else. Anyhow, having exited the race began & I was left with nothing to do other than swear at my PC (the PC is quite used to uncouth language & not easily offended). After that a film on the TV seemed the better option. To cut a long story short - what's the procedure if you get a DQ in qualification?

Oh! it was YOU who scared the sh*t out of me in qually There I was minding my own business, all alone and concentrating on getting my Cooper smoothly through the twisty bits and ... ITS a LOTUS coming straight at me!!!!! . We passed like ships in the night and he never even waved . I was so shocked I did not register who it was!! plus i had to find a clean pair of undergarments. Unfortunately Billy, I think there is no escape from the fun marshalls on this transgression. Going the wrong way seems to invoke GPL's equivalent of the Spanish Inquisition, where you are guilty until proved innocent and then they hang you anyway for being awkward about things.

Curses and naughty words! My first online race of 1967 and a non-starter. Billy wasn't the only one to come unstuck.
Just winding up for a shot at the pole (ahem), when I blacked out in the excitement, or else my screen did! And worse, I'd just arrived at the braking point to turn 1, and it sounded embarassing!
Another couple of fainting spells, and I decided to avoid a race melay, and watch from a safe distance. But alas, no luck there either, and it was lights out. My career hopes in 1967 snuffed out, by an optical interlude, or graphics blight.
Much tequilla needed, and a dictionary to spell it proper! "Sob, sniffle!" :'(

Not sure on the DQ . backwards driving (if thats what you did ) is a black flag offence as Clive says , but if you simply missed the start you still get the option to start from the pit lane , you have to wait 10 secs or so untill a green flag shows , click it and go

what's the procedure if you get a DQ in qualification? simple .. wait for the race and then start as normal , you will be starting last on the grid but will be able to race . do not sit in the pit lane while qually is going on as this just makes the wait between end of qually and race longer . john

Sounds like screen saver and power options kicking in. Need to sort that ASAP! Shame I missed this, sounds like fun. No idea what kinda pace I'd have had.

I didn't bother admittedly - I'm not normally too shoddy here but Mexico isn't my idea of a 'fun' race

Hi Jethro,
Thanks for your suggestion. XP does enjoy riding rough shod over resources, but I've had no blank screen incidents, when running 65 lights with a full on-line grid. And I installed the 67s with GPLPS installer, which I'd expect to preclude such naughtiness. I'm not laptopping. Even started using 'EndItAll', to reduce warping. So, what's amiss?
I suspect the culprit to be the full carset I'm running. My system may be graphically challenged, with only 512mb of Ram. The Multi-season Mexico update is quite intensive too.
I'll need 18 volunteers to try out my theory with the on-line 67 carset. Also the 66s . . . 69s . . . Thundercars . . . Tasmans . . . it's a hard life, but someone has to live it!
Martin.
