I might not be back in time to start this one but Billy is taking the helm as it's his baby.

Huge apologies to those waiting around whilst I ineptly struggled with the technology and failed to get the server going. As you may have gathered computers really aren't my thing. Thanks to Al Hellar for stepping in at the last minute. For those who did stay the distance I believe there was some good racing & the mother of all pile ups in Race 2. Full results to be posted shortly. ... Bill

Well, thanks for racing we did get eventually. I didn't particularly enjoy these due to some rather random driving by a number of people (this is not aimed at the person I have already spoken to). Some need to learn that if they make an error, the whole race does not centre around them getting back in it as soon as possible regardless of who ever else it may affect. To get repeatedly rammed into the wall by someone trying to recover from their own mistake does not make for good, enjoyable racing. Anyway, to the driving. While the Cooper was nice to drive, for me the BRM was clearly faster.

I was out of town yesterday and it was too late to join when I came back home. I forgot to shutdown a GTR2 practice server that was running in the weekend on T7 server, I hope that it didn't cause problems to start the server.
Ciao

The Cooper was a good solid car to drive on the limit. Quite how I squeezed a low 29 out of that I dunno. I had best sectors for a 28-something. The fact it all started so late I couldn't drive the BRM in anger was a pity, however I will hotlap it tonight just for effect!

Ah, the streets of Monaco - my first online racing at the track. Amazing there was only one pileup from two races, which pays tribute to the skills of all involved. I managed to scramble around without losing too much bodywork, though not all the paintwork remained my own! Great fun, and many thanks to Al for getting us onto the track. It looks like T7 may have been preoccupied, which must've made life difficult for the race stewards.

That was good fun that Had a fantastic dice with King Hiro from Casino Square down to the bridge/Tunnel straight, we managed to stay side by side the entire way and probably only lost about a second on the cars ahead! I may have to use my new found technique of passing on the pavements more often Onto race 2 - Hands up for being the cause of the pile up at Mirabeau. I lost the rear end while turning in and ended up diagonally against the outside barrier facing the oncoming cars. Nothing I could do so just sat there and prayed. The first car or 2 saw me intime to slow down, only to be rear ended by the rest of the field who had no way of seeing the obstruction! Somehow in the carnage I was punted around until I was halfway down the next straight with no wheels left but was able to Shift-R and found myself only 4 or 5 places down! Had a big fight on from there but due to the fast dying rear tyres of my BRM I eventually found myself finishing in 4th. Much prefered the Cooper - that was an absolute blast compared to Britains finest

Original posting said "Challenge is to get round Lap 1 unscathed at Monaco" - what I meant was in both races - I should have been more specific. Never mind, these things happen. Roll of honour Race 1 - Evil Clive led start to finish with Dean O & FMG on the podium. Race 2 - won by John Roberts followed by Dean L & Dean O.
BRM was a fair bit quicker (aggregate of over 4 seconds from 10 drivers completing more than half distance in both chassis) although the Cooper just felt a better drive. If oly you could stick a bit more hp in it. Full result as follows: RACE 1 RESULTS

BRM first.Race started with the nice battle with FMG wich he won . After couple of laps I passed a recovering JW who caught me and followed me. I did a small mistake and lost speed around the tunnel area and stayed on side of track to let JW by before I reentered. I didn t think about a fence coming up right in front of me just saw the spectators and thought I could wipe them down without harming my rolling coffin. I flew rolled and ended upside down. did you see it in the mirror jw? after that I kinda lost the spirit and finished halfconcentrated and in a bad mood. second race in cooper was more descent xpt the big crash on first lap but I could never match the fast guys since I wasn t very quick in that chassis.

Haha, I saw you pull off the circuit KH, had no idea you'd decided to barrel-roll into the spectators!!! You have any idea how dangerous those pavements are?!

Just seen the race results...... Interesting the comparison in total race time between John in the BRM and myself in the Cooper..only a few hundredths of a second difference!!!

Presumably the better handling of the Coop levels out the power advantage of the BRM on slower twisty tracks Sorry I had to leave early , although I didnt need much persuading . Monaco is just not one of my favourite tracks, the prospect of sitting at the wheel inside of a fridge (loft) for an extra 2 hours more than planned was something I didnt really need . Roll on summer , when I can complain about suffering from heat stroke
