Hi Alex - Bill has set up the light division for the faster drivers but I have locked the poll for a short while while the database is set up. It should be sorted after the weekend.

Bill, just a thought....perhaps the F2's would be more suited to Interlagos and Bathurst....and the 69X's would suit Reims much better. Worth considering?

Huh? Not sure whats the logic behind your proposal Geoff, why using winged cars for a track that is essentially two straights and two hairpins? If it were for me, I would actually pic the 69x for Bathurst as well! They are certainly suited for that and Interlagos, twisty tracks with loads of bends of different shape and camber? Anyway, it's Billy call of course, would be nice to know the car we are going to use soon enough though.  Smiley

A. Quality of racing at Bathurst in 69's would be frankly, rubbish....you'd only get a chance to pass at the end of Conrod. F2's would afford much better racing due their smaller size and nimble handling.

B. Trundling around boring Reims in a car thats nearly 30mph slower than the 69's, with a tailwind, doesn't fill me with awe. If you lose the tow of the group in front Hello! boredom.

C. Real racing cars don't have wings....aeroplanes do.

D. Manhandling a 69 around Bathurst is not my idea of a fun day out.....

Well, I have to confess I only know Bathurst through some you tube videos of GPL laps, so cant really judge if the quality of racing there would be affected by the size of the car. However, I have tried the F2 in St Jovite and frankly they dont seem easier to drive than a 69x. It is all relative to the skills and likings of people, but I think both for racing and easyness to handle, nothing beats the 69x mod apart from maybe the 65s. As for the size, boh, never really felt it made much of a difference in racing with GPL, where you need to leave a lot of room anyway to stay safe. If we were talking GTs maybe..

As for point B., if you lose the tow at Reims, it's going to be a sea of boredom anyway, 30mph more or less arent going to make any difference, the track offers nothing in itself, you cant make up any real ground through driving skills as there are 2 corners and a half and people driving in a tow are going to leave you for dead anyway, so wings or no wings you better stay in touch..

Point C must be an aussie joke, but I dont get it, unless it is you trying to sell us that V8s are actually racing cars?  Grin Grin Grin

Anyway, I think Bathurst was already going to be F2, so this is academic. You were talking Interlagos, where the issues about racing shouldnt apply, as the track is wide as a landing strip, perfect for planes, you see?

Nothing personal Geoff, just didnt like your idea really, but theres nothing wrong in discussing proposals, we just need to know what Billy thinks about it.

Geoff / Art,
Original plan was to run 69 at Interlagos & '65 cars are Reims & Bathurst.
The F2 Mod was subsequently released so that gives an option of using them at some point in the season.
One thing we discovered with the new 69X Mod that it had to be set up in SROU (only Giz has access), otherwise you can't import the results. I believe the F2 has similar issues & no idea if that has happened yet. Badblood might know.
Under the circumstances I suggest we run the 69X at Interlagos & make a later decision about Reims & Bathhurst - but I'm not proposing to use 69X for them.
For the record we did a double header Spec race in the Lotus & BRM at Reims a couple of seasons back where the drafting produced some great racing.

Yep, I remember that Billy, I was there and managed to go off 3 times at the same half corner, the one that is not a hairpin..Think the problem there is the same in whichever mod: when you lose the draft you are kind of done. Whilst in the tow though, especially with the 65s, you can keep up with just about anyone. Maybe worth considering for one of the unwinged 69x, if people dont fancy the slow 65 and importing F2 is still a problem? Anyway, the only thing I really didnt like of Geoff idea was dropping the winged cars for Interlagos, as they are good fun to drive around there. I have seen it is going to be BRM in the race announcement, thanks and see you guys on Friday. Cool
