IMO lots of the disco troubles come from the wide spread locations our drivers come from and some with poor connections.

That probably contributes. Occasionally I worry that I may cause problems with my distance to the servers. Overall, I think my connection is good. I average about .180 latency to Jethro's server and .200 to Axel's. The best I ever see to European servers is .170. Q is usually no lower than .995. I usually have no trouble with a latency lower than .240. At .240 or higher I'm much more careful and leave more room. I have to be more cautious near Dean and Doni but I expect that since both our signals have to traverse the Atlantic. I'd guess Dean has a better connection since I see him warp less than Doni. I'm sure they're seeing the same as regards to me. It was impossible to drive any where close to Doni in the 69xs until Tommie worked on the numbering. I wonder who Doni sees warp more, me or Dean? I rarely see any of the drivers in Europe warping.

Being philosophic about this, I think GPL is far kinder than real life in terms of simulated mechanical failures & internet connections probably balance this out - making the whole sim experience more realistic.

Interesting observation Billy. I'd say you're correct. I get away with things I shouldn't, a little more often than I disco or screen freeze.

I also think some of us are just lucky or unlucky with our hardware combinations. Using 3 different cpus and two different gpus since Spa67 was released, showed me many strange inconsistencies. Summer 2015 I was working on my GTRank and tried to set lap times in all the cars at Lemans. I couldn't complete a single lap in any of the cars using the D3Dv2 rasterizer. OGLv2, I completed 4 laps in each car until I drove the 910 last. I got a screen freeze on my fourth lap in the 910 at Maison Blanche. That was the furthest point I had made on lap1 with any of the cars using D3Dv2.

Lemans in the GTs with the D3Dv2 rasterizer would probably be a good place for me to check if other video card and GPL settings have an effect on screen freezes. The same with you guys. If you can find a place to consistently produce a problem, you may be able to use it fine tune your settings. I start at the back of a full GT field at Spa67 to test my frame rates with different settings.

Now wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same

Registrations are open for Season 30. Some registration threads need to be modified yet with more details, but registrations are open for Season 30! Wink

Cheers Smiley

Thanks Robert! You make it look easy.

Many UKGPL members drive in different leagues, as well faster as slower drivers here. Personally, if I weren't loyal to UKGPL I wouldn't moderate and setup the season in LM2 plus the reg threads.

So, what is your point?

The pros keep going and the gentlemen [drivers] are less and less, why bother. Huh

Most pros here are gentlemen, there will always be slower and faster drivers. So, what is your point?

I noticed this trend when I raced in a Power and Glory league. As far as I know, UKGPL is the only one that has separate races for Amateurs and Privateers. Although we are not all gentlemen.   laugh

Even with UKGPL, the Amateurs are smaller in number than the pros. So I am very appreciative of my fellow competitors.

Thanks Rob.

UKGPL is my favorite league. It helps that it's predominately in the only language I know. It's the only league where I can regularly race most mods in a championship season.

Most of the time, I pick a slower car to be more mid-pack, although for the 1967 Works league I always try to pick the fastest car within my token budget. As said before, I do like the token system as it jumbles up the grid anyway. But if you want to focus on one division, try the F2's. Most cars are very similar and relatively easy to drive, so it's easier to be at the sharp end of the grid during the races if you keep it together.

Besides, who was leading the pack in lap 1 at a Le Mans race in the 69's recently? Hmm, a certain G. Hall...  Grin

Tommie.
