Hi Folks,

In my efforts to persuade my tired old pc to run the PnG sim I have encountered a number of screen freeze and CTD problems that good old GPL never caused.

I have received much help and advice and I think that one bit in particular may be of interest to the GPL community.

The thing is called Gamebooster and can be found here:
http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html

It does largely what EndItAll does but also just a bit more.  For instance, it enables you to defrag just the game folder that you are interested in.  It also releases the RAM that other processes may have made claim to.  The nice bit is that having run the game you can then revert to normal mode without having to reboot.

To be honest, I still run EndItAll first to use the “Kill” function for applications that refuse to be closed down and then I run Gamebooster.

I have also installed the free version of Advanced System Care, which I believe is found by following a link from Gamebooster.

This has a raft of pc maintenance features, including a registry clean function, spyware removal and junk file removal.  Be careful with the privacy bit as wiping your internet history can get you a lot of abuse from your beloved!

Hope you find it useful but, of course, there is always the chance that you lot have been using it for years and I have not been paying attention.  Grin

Err......never touch a running system!!  If it works, leave it alone! You could cause issues that wern't there before!

Thanks for the info Clive Smiley

Quite right!

If mine had worked I wouldn't have touched it.

I think that I have also discovered that, whereas GPL always wanted my sound card to have the hardware acceleration turned down, PnG works better with it at max.
