Just a quick note to say thanks for your support with my Sunday Drivers / Spec Race series.
Firstly to Tim (Vosblod) for suggesting that we might do something outside interleague races on Sunday nights (drunken conversation in a pub I believe).
Also to Nicky Ickx (& Mike James) for providing the server.
But mostly to the regulars who have turned up to drive. Appreciate that you have all had to make time to learn the tracks, often in cars that you aren’t familiar with driving.

Personally I’ve enjoyed organising the events, the racing and the pre / post race chat. The non-fun bit is adding all the laps times to see how the chassis compared – but this was the whole point of the “spec challenge” & might be useful for people considering which cars to take.

Plan is to run a full Sunday Drivers calendar for Season 19. Format will be basically the same, perhaps a little bit more organised. Looks as though interleague won’t run next season so we might drag in a few aliens – which will leave me even further down the grid.

I have a provisional track list in mind for Season 19. If anyone has any particular favourites please post here.

Just to save you getting rusty before next season I’ll try and sort out a couple of fun races … Bill.

Thanks to all involved. What a great Series it was.

I managed to make a few of the races and thought the races were good with some good close racing throughout the field which was helped by there only being two chassis available. Having a Shift-R available also didn't affect the racing in a bad way. i.e. it didn't mean people were going for gaps that weren't there knowing they could reset if the move didn't come off.

I also really liked the fact that there was a good variation of tracks with some unusual ones being used as well as some that haven't been used in a while, eg Hockenheim, Zeltweg, Mosport.

I hope next season you maintain this trend by using the classics like Spa, Monza, Silverstone..etc, but also by throwing in some of the other excellent Tracks on the Database (providing they are stable online). I've never really driven more than a couple of laps at these tracks in a 65, but how about any one of these - Porto, Leipzig, Montlhery, Monza 10k version, Grenzlandring.

I guess making it into a Championship could add more interest, or could it lead to more desperate driving? I'd like to see the results added to everyone's profile though just like all Championship races. I guess it could be the only Championship that is purely Driver and Set-Up based if you made everyone use 2 similar matched cars for each meeting, or specified one chassis for race 1, and the other for race 2.

Thanks to all those mentioned above. I think its been a success.  Wink

Thx all, it was really fun when I was able to attend the races.

I really hope it will become a regular event for season 19.

A couple of track suggestions  - I'd rather go beyond the constraints of the same old overworked originals, and give their marshalls a break - anything with good graphics, and elevation change.  Out of a hat, I might choose Lime Rock(Lime), as it's fun and easy to learn. And Laguna Seca, either year, for a bit more of a challenge.  Tongue laugh

Martin.
