Oh which car to pick which car to pick. I'm torn between the Mirage and the Lola but might just take the Chaparral 2F for the sheer lunacy of it  Grin. These cars are a great blast but I am experiencing the odd FPS drop driving by myself. Not sure how I'll cope during a full race  Undecided.

Anyone got any ideas on getting D3D working? D3DV2 is great but Pribluda doesn't work. I have looked for an update but no joy.

Hi Paul,

I use D3D v2 & pribluda. There's a prib update to be found at SRMZ. I'll try & dig out the link for you tomorrow if you can't find it.

Al

EDIT: updated Prib link here: http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=5835&hl=pribluda&st=0

I'm probably now going 2F - starting to get used to 3 gears only.

The Porsche is great fun but a little slow, otherwise the GT40 Mk1 is interesting if you can get it slowed down.

So far I've only driven the Mk1 and the 2D at Monza 10000000000000k.
The Chaperal is an animal! So much work to drive, but faster than the Mk1 by a few seconds (I've only had time to do 2 flying laps per car too)
Mk1 on the other hand was nice, better brakes, better handling, more usable gears - just let down by a lack of punch.

For comedy purposes I'm currently undecided between the 2D and Mk4 GT40 for tomorrow if I make it  Grin

I can make any of them slow Cheesy

Pretty pleased though started out at 1:42 and improved to 1:37 by the end. At that rate I'll be faster than Hristo by Christmas. Cheesy

Well the GT mod is finally here... Grin

After a couple of years of promises and development it is a very impressive package.

I only had a short time last night to try it out so I plumped for the Chappy 2F, figuring that if I had less gearchanges it would give me more time to concentrate on the driving lol. Roll Eyes

I did my first ever laps in full public gaze on the server. My initial atempts were more like half laps!!. Personally, I found the default setup almost impossible to get into the corners at Silvy, so I took an axe and a large hammer and delicately lopped some chunks off of various parts and stuck the offcuts back into other places. A couple of visits to the blacksmiths shop behind the pits and some adjustments to driving technique and the 2F behemoth began to respond.

I think my 1st complete flying lap was around 1:35 , and the times dropped quite quickly to the 1:31's. I decided to stick with the setup I had and concentrate on finding out how to stop the beast and control all that grunt. Unfortunately I had lost my original version of prib with all the upgrades etc and I did not get the newer version working until later, so getting info on what was happening around me was difficult. AND THE MIRRORS ARE USELESS!!!! I assume that they are the same in all cars?? and it wasn't that mine had not been cleaned by the pit crew???

Quite enjoyed the short race I had driving the 2F, although with some work on the setup and a bit more practice it should be a couple of secs quicker I feel.
Tonight I am hoping to try out some of the other options and spend some time comparing relative merits etc.

This looks like something totally different for us GPL'ers and a big thanks to the team that developed it. Looking forward to some "different" racing in the future. Grin

Only tried the Ferrari and the Porsche so far, and it's great fun. You can really feel the added weight of the Ferrari.

On the quick race last night I was getting my setup sorted, but forgot to put it on my race car, so I raced with the default setup, which was interesting. Managed to hover around 1:36 most of the time. The Ferrari is the car for me at tonights race, the Porsche is great fun, and can be thrown around but it really lacks grunt.

i`m finding the ferrari too much of a handful... i`m only one second per lap slower in the porker so may take that instead... mind you.. i`m a lot quicker in the lola but somehow dont really like it very much..... i mean, V8`s? urgh!

If anyone want a laugh,do a single player race against the AI.. use the porsche, skip praccy and start from the back...  you can catch `em but can you hell as like pass!

Of course, i wonder when GPLrank will be updated to allow GT times?

Anything that includes a GT40 and the Lola gets my attention, especially when its free  Smiley Hope to join you gents for tonights race.

Had a quick go and I'm a way off the pace in the GT40. Still, only one second a corner to find.

Fun, fun, fun!  The Porsche is my favourite so far.  It was in reality, the forrunner of their dominance, in the years to come.  Didn't take long last night, to realize, it was the Mini Cooper amongst the Jags - almost able to compete with the big cats, despite being an underdog.

The 910 could be the perfect starter kit, for those new to GPL and GT.  But I've not tried half the cars yet.  Ahh . . . so many cars, so little time! Grin

It's very interesting that so many people have mentioned the GT40 and the Lola, as cars they remembered and loved from the 60's. I thought I was one of only a few who remembered those iconic cars and the impact they made on me visually at the time with such affection. I also thought thought that the gold wheels on that Fezza P4 were the best I had ever seen anywhere, before or since.

Plus of course, back in the late 60's I was heavily into slot car racing with the E.C.R.A. organisation and just about the favourite body shells in any GT class were....Lola T70, Ferrai P4 and Ford GT40.
