Moderator's Report

An incident packed first lap - no wonder the moderation is so late!

Lots of naughtiness around Stop n Go.

You must take a Stop n Go for EACH reset. If you don't you risk exclusion. Robert John just gets a warning here.

If you can't take a stop because it is the last lap a time penalty will be added. Even if you dip into the pits to pass the line... cheeky, made us laugh though.

Server replay time: 0h01m05s

Cookie loses it at the end of the Red Zone. Clive has made the pass and Cookie should give way. Nearly got through side by side but it was too tight and carnage ensues.

Always worth backing out if the manoeuvre carries as much risk as this

Server replay time: 0h01m06s

Bit further back David slows for the incident ahead but Rog doesn't. This is clearly a blatant rear end and although he gives the place back and David asked for no penalty Rog has tried hard to earn a penalty. I don't want to disappoint...

Server replay time: 0h01m07s

Fran decides to use John as a brake. It's not great.

Server replay time: 0h02m17s

Tris loses it but H is so close a crash is unavoidable.

THIS POST IS FOR THE LIGHT & HEAVY RACES

Round nine of the Formula 2 European Tour, is the first of a double header in Switzerland. Bremgarten was built as a motor cycle track in 1931 to the north of Bern. The circuit itself had no true straight, instead being a collection of high-speed corners. From the outset, it’s tree-lined roads, often poor light conditions and changes in road surface made for what was acknowledged to be a very dangerous circuit, especially in the wet. Bremgarten has not hosted an official motorsports event since 1955, when spectator racing sports were banned in Switzerland.

The basic download has fairly poor graphics qualify but there is very good upgrade in SRMZ.

Bremgarten is probably the most difficult circuit of the F2 season & the driving skill of the championship leaders should mean that the handicap chassis are less of a handicap. The top three runners in each division are restricted as follows.
LIGHTS Hristo – Ferrari or Brabham BT14. Evil Clive & Goran - Ferrari, Brabham BT14 or Cooper.
HEAVY Rainier – Ferrari or Brabham BT14. Phil Thornton & Dave Cutis - Ferrari, Brabham BT14 or Cooper

The series will be run on two separate grids; The Lights (on T7) & the Heavys (on UKGPL 3). Please ensure you join the correct race. The Driver list is shown below & the Championship Table can be found here F2 European Tour

Unlimited resets are allowed but every Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane. If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded.
Incidents should be reported in the usual way.
In line with other divisions the races will be subject to full moderation in the red zone which will be to the apex of the Tenni corner. The Moderator may chose to investigate any other incident, in addition to reported incidents & red zone incidents.

Please note that for Season 23 UKGPL has introduced a system of penalties within each series for drivers accumulating yellow cards – see here
Penalty Points. Drivers incurring these penalties will receive a PM advising when a penalty has been applied & what race it should served.

Shame - I was hopeful of taking the same car/setup to all tracks.  Trusty old Lola - I think my 1st F2 car from back in the mini fun series.
Never mind;  back in the old girl next time for sure!

And in new tub at a 'new' track too;  which makes me now think of Accolade Grand Prix Circuit for some reason... Smiley
oh dear,  at this rate I'll be stopping every other lap to bash the car back into shape.

A general reminder. Bremgarten is a narrow track with very limited run off areas. The first corner is a rather tricky right hander followed by a left hand kink. Please try & avoid overshooting the turn or an accident in T1. Following cars should be prepared for the leading cars to brake early or heavily. It's NOT a rolling start but try not to ruin anyone elses race before we get started.
Tip 2 - ignore the lap records at the top of this thread - very demoralising for us mortals.

Thanks Nicky, now I only need to know how to move it. Out of the box it is way too high I can only see a little of it if I go for a really high FOV and the reason I need the virtual mirror is that I use a FOV of 55 where I can not see the normal mirrors.

I do have GPL Track Editor and I manage to load the 3do but then I am stuck.

I can tell you how to do it but probably easier to explain in Igor as I'd need GPL Track Editor open to remind me Wink  Basically you just need to click on the 4 corners of the mirror & change the number of the x or y coordinate - you see it move up/down/left/right & then once you're happy you can save it.

Wow - seems everyone else was quick here;  particularly the REALLY serious guys.  10 seconds difference from my 'fastest'  eek!

But - what's this?  2x lap records?!  I take it that means the BT14 is not well suited & therefore one has never been seen round here before...  :/
Small victories I guess.

Cheers all.
Dave.

Well that was an eventful race.  I was very lucky not to get caught up in one of the many shunts I saw; I'm amazed there were so many finishers.  The track is so narrow and with so much of it lined with trees whenever someone crashes they usually end up marooned on the track ready to be collected by the next car.  Somehow I survived and picked up another win.  That takes my total to 312 which is the maximum David Rainier can score if he wins the last round.  So given I have more wins then I should take the title (pending moderation) on countback even if I miss the last round.

For round 10 it's my turn for the Ferrari but I can't see me extracting the performance out of it that Hristo did tonight.  Phenomenal fastest lap, if I watch the replay a 100 times I'll still not know how he does it!

Don't know why Dave Curtis took the BT14.  It is dog slow.  Maybe he didn't realize how bad it is until tonight.  I didn't know until I drove it for the Silverstone round, never again LOL.  However it does raise the question about the BT14 and the Ferrari.  Maybe for next season it might be worth modding the rules slightly so that the championship leader only has to take the BT14 if they are 75 points clear in the championship and the Ferrari if they are 50 points clear in the championship.  Otherwise the leader takes the Cooper and 2nd and 3rd take the Lotus 48.  It might make for closer races.  The best race we had this season was Hockenheim when nobody was forced to take the BT14 or Ferrari Smiley.
