1965 Mod – 50th Anniversary
The 1965 cars are now 50 years old (I think that makes them officially antiques). As mentioned we thought UKGPL should do something to celebrate this landmark. When season 28 gets underway we will run the 10 original championship races for the ’65 series. As a taster we are going to have a fun series using the non-championship races that were contested in 1965 (leaving out Silverstone which was also a GP & Killarney as the track is only available in Beta format.)
Please note that all races will run at 60 frames per second – which will give everyone a chance to test this out. You are welcome to attend as many or as few races as you wish.
The calendar for the mini-series – the 50th Anniversary Cup will be;
Brands Hatch – Tuesday 6th January
Syracuse – Sunday 11th
Goodwood – Tuesday 13th
Enna Pergusa – Sunday 18th
Kyalami – Tuesday 20th.
Killarney - Sunday 25th
There is a free choice of chassis for all entrants if we use 2 servers.
Whilst this will be a fun series;
• A maximum of 1 x Shift R allowed per race with a compulsory Stop & Go.
• Races will be moderated by reported incidents only, including a check on Stop & Go’s. No red zone applies.
• Mini-series points will be awarded according to the 1965 system, 9 points for the winner, 6 for second, 4 for third, 3 for fourth, 2 for fifth & 1 for sixth.

Ooh, interesting!
Although, with limited points-giving positions, I see ending with a big zero a real possibility/likely!
But good to see this is coming up soon!

Good compromise to have the non-championship races as a pre-season event, to get everyone set up with 60fps and also leave the 10 championship races as the perfect length for a ukgpl championship. Those 5 tracks make a nice mini-series!

Killarney is my first track and is a beta because must be improved in the pit house.Wy can't be used online?
I can't race in the first 2 becouse ,despite the few snow on Alpi,the season of the ski is started for me.Syracuse is in evening after a day on the ski and an early mornig awakening,so i must understand if i have again energies.
The others are possible,but the partecipation is free?

Free to come join the race. New graphics cards are not free, but maybe not a big problem at 60fps. We test with the 65.  |

Fran, If you can confirm that Killarney is suitable for on-line racing & Cookie is willing to run the server then I am happy to include as race number 6 in this series

I just raced it on Monday with JonnyO, for his Springbok Series (GT), the track is fine for racing but because it is still a beta, times cannot yet be uploaded to GPLrank. |

didn't know you were a trackmaker, respect Wink Break-a-leg with skiing, or rather don't! Grin I had an activity in GPL Repository,now i'm firm with the work ,waiting the release of my biggest work:the cars of CanAm66 mod.I have prepared this cars in the 2010,now after 5 years seem that the mod could be ready in few months. Consider you that the decison to join the Repository was to help to speed up some work |

I think we are all very grateful to people like Fran for building new tracks & mods - so it is only fair that we put their work to use. (The new Spa is a masterpiece).
Providing we have a server(s) then Killarney is added to the '65 Anniversary cup for Januray 25th.
I'm guessing Season 28 will start in February.
PS. Any news on the 1955 mod - that woudl be awesome.

Yeah Francesco! Thanks!  A nice fluent track, I just installed it and did some laps in the Honda (1:23:65 so far) Now we have to get it into our SROU database and we can race it! |
