Moderator's Report
Rick Osborn - LAP 1
T1 (Curva Grande) - WARNING
After a bad start and very wide slide into the pits area, you then make a rejoin into the pack, but it seems that due to having lost some places you then drive like a "man possessed", into and through Curva Grande in a totally aggressive and reckless manner. You try to pass Neil Charlton on the inside where there was not enough room, although it should have been obvious that it was his corner and was rightfully following the racing line. A combination of warp and contact with his OSF wheel caused him to spin and wreak havoc upon five cars behind who were unable to avoid the accident that had been caused.
Rick Osborn. WARNING
T3 Lesmo1
On the entry into Lesmo1 after leaving your braking until very late you dive inside James Wright where under very heavy braking you momentarily lose control and slide wide across the apex of the corner nearly taking the front off James's car and the rear off Paul Thurston's car. This was just another occasion when some restraint would have been beneficial.
It was *not* a place and time where such moves should even be contemplated.
This move could so easily have caused another serious accident and as such driving like this cannot be tolerated.
Rick Osborn CAUTION
After sitting tight behind Paul Thurston's Lotus through Serraglio and into Ascari you once again try to make an overtaking move, which ends in another accident. You draw up alongside the rear quarter of PT when it becomes obvious to you that you are running out of road and are going to go onto the grass. You should have held your position or dropped back. By attempting to squeeze into an impossibly small section of road (considering the problems of online racing) there is contact with Paul's OSR wheel causing both of you to crash badly thereby prematurely ending Paul Thurston's and your own race.
I have watched this incident many, many times and Paul Thurston does not move over onto you or block you. Unfortunately warp played some part in your coming together.
But the real onus in avoiding this crash was for you not to have tried this pass when there just was not the room available. It must not also be assumed that if drivers make to pass someone, that in a racing environment that they must move out of your way. It's the responsibility of the overtaking driver to pull of the manoeuvre safely.
Rick Osborn PENALTY.
Due to the nature of the incidents as outlined above and a culmination of warnings for similar incidents of the same nature at previous race meetings, I have decided that the relevant PENALTY is therefore a 1-race ban suspended for 3 races starting from Watkins Glen and 20 penalty points.

LAP 1: Alan Hawkins and Chris Darkes. RACING INCIDENT.
Alan and Chris were rounding Curve Grande when Alan had to take avoiding action to miss the spinning Eagle of Neil Charlton. Due to warp Chris Darkes was spun off onto the grass and into the wire fencing. Alan took only the very minimum of action needed to miss the stricken eagle and it's a credit to him that a lot more carnage was not caused due to the accident in T1. I know that both Alan and Chris were fortunately able to carry on and have some good racing.
