Season 33 Extra – Round 4 – Zeltweg
Season 33 Extra will be an unofficial championship of 8 races over the next few weeks using the original 1967 mod. Round 4 will be at Zeltweg. F1 returned to the track in 2014 which is now known as the Red Bull Ring. We will use the 1971 layout.
No registration required & the series is open to all comers.
This will be run as mixed grid. There is a free choice of chassis, although Pro drivers should not take the Lotus or the Eagle. Points will be scored according to the traditional method of 9 for 1st, 6 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, 2 for 5th & 1 for 6th.
Have fun, but please observe GPL rules & driving standards.

Note: Lots of SPAM in VROC/iGOR chat at this time If you are the first person in the room, you will have operator status. You can click the S button (secret) on the upper right side of the iGOR chat window and that will make the room secret so the bots won't see the room when they scan the list of rooms. That gets rid of them.

What happened to Evil? I spent the whole race waiting for something to appear sideways in my mirrors but it never happened!

Glad to have scored some points in this series although that was mainly because of retirements or problems. I think I was the only Privateers standard driver but this series has a lot of fast tracks & the Eagle meant I did not get completely stranded at the back.

Sorry to disappoint you Clive. I was half asleep in the armchair and only realised that there was a race with 20 mins of practice left. I knew the track of course, but wanted to try out the Brabham again so the time was spent fiddling with the setup and I only got in the one quali lap that put me 3rd on the grid. But I was still half asleep and not fully concentrating....must've been the large Dinner? it wouldn't have been the two glasses of red wine would it?? It looked like the times were close and the race could be fun. Unfortunately Pelle got things wrong at Bosh Curve and was parked in the middle of the track. I tried to squeeze past on the inside, but it seems that several others had the same idea and I was bumped into the barriers ending up last, and a long way behind. I chased down Pelle and Billy `over the next two laps but just as I caught them Pelle went into the pits. I wanted to pass Billy and get after Andreas who I could see in the distance, with an occasional glimpse of Mr Loynes ahead of him. Billy had other plans!! The Eagle was faster on the straights and even with slipstream I could not attempt a pass. I tired to slip past in the corners but Billy's defence can best be described as "robust" lol and I found myself grass cutting to avoid contact on several occassions lol. My concentration was not 100% and although I did make a pass into the Bosch Curve under braking. Despite my scrappy driving I managed to catch Andreas, but I was braking much later than his Cooper and almost rear ended him a couple of times. Eventually I got it so wrong I had to throw my car off the track and I decided that if I continued it was very likely that I would take someone out.. and the next car up the track was Clive Loynes!! So I opted to retire before I screwed someone's race.

So I opted to retire before I screwed someone's race. Much appreciated. I had a nice quiet race with nobody to bother me at close quarters apart from John dropping back to distract me. However, once he got the hang of staying on the grey bit, he cleared off and I didn't see him again until after his car had given up. Not sure if that was just engine related or if he had given it some encouragement by smacking it on the wall!
