A big thank you to Petr for taking avoiding action and managing not to hit me on lap one when he found himself closing rapidly on the back of my Maserati. You are a gentleman racer. Sadly his action caused all hell to break loose.
Petr and I had a great battle for pole position, which I took by 0.02 seconds. As Evil has pointed out, it's best to be out front on a circuit like this one.
I'm not too keen on tracks where you have to die at the end of each qually lap but since this one has been rather kind to me I guess I shouldn't make too much noise about it.
When I surveyed the situation at the end of lap one it appeared that I just had to keep the engine healthy for the win. It seemed a damn long way waiting for the con rods to appear through the bonnet as had happened to me, in a race, the previous Tuesday in the Maserati. But as they say, the art is to drive as slowly as possible to win the race and I had raised some of the ratios to keep the engine in one piece.
I have been fairly disappointed with my start to the season but my mood does brighten when I look at Evil's efforts!
Congratulations to Jonny and Enrique. At least we had the complete podium crossing the finish line this time.
